Recycling Will Save Us!

What was the last recycling rate we saw published? Something like 12% of all households in Chicago? Yet they keep coming up with BS like this:
  • The city's 2007 Christmas Tree Recycling Effort, which began Saturday, is expected to surpass last year's 12,000 tree total, according to a release from the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Mayor Richard M. Daley and other city officials including 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley, Streets & Sanitation Commissioner Mike Picardi, Environment Commissioner Sadhu Johnston, and others met in Lincoln Park Saturday morning to help kick-off the citywide Christmas tree recycling effort.
A number no one will bother to check. And it keeps going up year after year and no one questions it, sort of like the election returns from various wards. Does anyone really care?

Hey, if you need mulch, that Christmas tree stuff really is the best and it's free. Some mulch that came from the area hit by hurricane Katrina might have termites.

Using Blue-Bags and having special recycling garbage carts in the alleys is a lot easier than having to pay and redeem deposits on bottles. Just look at the back or neck label of your favorite bottle of beer. As I sit here at my computer, I am pouring myself a cool smooth Sam Adams. The neck label says around the edge, "IA MA VT ME CT NY DE OR HI 5 Cents DEP. MI 10 Cents DEP. CA CRV OK+ .

I'll throw the empty into a Blue-Bag with his brothers, I don't want them to add IL to that list.

Pensions underfunded, city costs going up, city agencies bloated with overpaid and unnecessary bureaucrats, city contract handouts to the connected while the pols dodge the feds and their investigations, and they're talking about recycling trees? Whatever the definition of BS is in the dictionary, Daley and his minions continue to redefine it and outdo themselves at every opportunity....

The City should be a leader in the recyling movement. STOP WASTING PAPER! And starting recycling used paper. Daily Bulletin, G.O., S.O. etc.. should be available only on the intranet. I wonder what Daley family friend sells white paper to the city?

Isn't recycling in general a big scam, i.e., more damage to environment, energy units used to recycle than are being replaced? That is when one factors in the transport of the material to/from gathering area, to/from recycling plants, process to recycle? There are studies both pro and con but, much like the gun ownership issue, the media favors the one that provides the results they want however rife with specious research and skewed?

Better than recycling is to avoid unnecessary use, like copies of everything and faxing up the wazoo. The problem is that the exempts on the department have to be brought their offerings of packages of paper reports so everyone knows that they are important.

Like the TRRs, they are available on line so who needs to look at one only has to log on and they are all right there. Why make all those copies.

RECYCLING WORKS!!!

We here at city hall have been recycling each other's relatives into cushy jobs for years.

Further, we regularly recycle all the best contracts among ourselves!

We now even recycle our aldermanic positions among our own familiwes!

Recycling does work!

Especiallly for us!

Paid for by your local democrat party.

Real Xmas trees are a serious fire hazard. The nitwit City Council should make them illegal within city limits.

I don't want to pay the deposit, store them all up, put them in my car, lug them out, stand in line and wait for Mamuud to count out a few sheckels.

It is much easier to Blue-Bag them. Besides it allows me to have an extra garbage can in the kitchen so I don't have to shlep out the alley so often.

If they start making pay deposits I'm going to look into home delivery of kegs.

tell daley to get several dump trunks full of Christmas trees and have them taken out to the inside of the break wall in Lake Michigan. Spread them out and sink them in a specific area. GREAT for attracting fish. Natrual Cover = Mo Fish !!!
