Someone noted in the comments section that they had received a "Keep Chicago Moving Forward" flyer touting the re-election campaign of the current mayor. We checked the mail today and so did we. It also comes with a handy pre-paid address card that can be mailed back so as to volunteer your services in the campaign. The reader proposed labeling the whole thing "Return to Sender" and dumping it back into the mail. Trouble is, your mailing address is on the flyer. We'd propose the following instead:

- Tear out the pre-paid address card and fill it out with some nonsense - Jack Mehoff; Amanda Hugnkiss; SCC; whatever you like - use HQ as the address so they know it's from officers.
- Check the "other" box and write in something funny like "dismantling Machine politics," or "turning State's evidence for Fitzgerald."
- Mail the postcard in to deprive the re-election campaign of some small amount of funding, no matter how little it might be. Your own little protest in a mere minute!
Contract time is coming up and you know the City is going to drag it out for a couple years if possible. Might as well register your dissent somehow.

FUCKING a RIGHT! I always send empty return envelopes back to bustout outfits like Citizens Utility Board, United Way, etc., My small form of protest.

The best thing to do with pre-paid postage return items is as follows:
Find some heavy, old bowling balls, old barbell weights or anything else that is not of a dangerous nature and place it in a box. Affix the pre-paid postage card on the box with tape and drop it off at the post office.
The return payee ends up paying like $20 something bucks for each item sent.
I once sent four old bolwing balls (Please don't use any that have your name or initials on it) and placed it in one box. I used a little over sized box so the balls move a little when you try to lift it, making it hard to keep the box steady for the receiver.
I am sure that box costed them about $70.00 in postage to the US Post Office.

Off The Subject: How can the D.C. in 4th Dist. just sit their and do nothing about all the 99 cars and downed cars on afternoons, midnights is even worse. the 2nd biggest district in the city 7500 south - 13800 south / 4100 east - 1232 east.
no time off, no time on the end, furlough extensions - you receive pressure not to, no backup, lunches denied, backlogs, you get pressure when and if you make an arrest because their are jobs waiting (what bullshit). there are "no" police where I live on 33's beat. I try going South to put the neighborhood in check and stop some cars or idiots on the corners but I get sent North to answer 14 more jobs North of 95th Street.
This fucking manpower issue is getting way way out of control and we (the police) have to all come to together on this one. I was chasing a guy the other day and it took 13 minutes for the FIRST car to show up. daley and fop "Kiss My Ass".
I wonder why not one of the newspaper or news channels want to do a story on manpower issues. they should call it "PUTTING THE CITIZENS AND OFFICERS AT RISK"
Why doesn't our fine fop lodge 7 stand up and do something. everybody bitches about crime. well, hire the 3000 plus coppers we're short and put a dent into that crime your bitchn about. SACRAMENTO — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will propose that all Californian children, including those in the state illegally, be guaranteed medical insurance as part of the health-care overhaul he intends to unveil next week, according to officials familiar with the plan.

Although the administration has not revealed details of how it would pay for such a program, officials estimate that extending insurance to all children could cost the state as much as $400 million a year.
