As CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports, Obama hopes the Senate will vote on his "Iraq War De-Escalation Act."
Iraq War De-Escalation Act? Is that anything like Clinton's "Turn the Other Cheek" policy that resulted in so many instances of "Cut and Run" the minute things started to go south? Or enabled the unchecked rise of radical islamic fundamentalism that culminated in 9/11?

- The repercussions of an airline's decision to remove a group of Muslim imams from a commercial flight in Minneapolis could be heard in Congress this year, with civil rights groups pushing Democratic lawmakers to ban racial profiling.
The incident happened in November and reinvigorated an old proposal that got little attention from the GOP.
With Democrats now in control, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) made it clear the issue will be a priority for him.
''Many law-abiding African Americans, Arab Americans, Latino Americans and others live with the fear of being racially profiled as they go about their everyday lives,'' Feingold said.
Sure, and the fact that these imams were not following the instructions of the flight crew, made a number of suspicious remarks in both English and arabic, sat in the exact same pattern as member of the cells that hijacked 4 jets on 9/11 means nothing? And how about the fact that just about every study done on racial profiling ends up showing that cops DO NOT profile based soley on race, but rather behaviors?

World public opinion is against the US presence in Iraq (and has been from the start), as is Iraqi public opinion by an overwhelming margin. The GOVERNMENT of Iraq (such as it is) opposes our continued presence as well. Bush's approval ratings now approach those of Nixon at the height of Watergate.
In spite of all of this "we" should continue on. Interesting.

Let me be clear. The Demochumps have by no means effectively addressed the danger that the Decider and his beastiary of madmen pose to the republic--a true party of opposition would have introduced articles of impeachment by now--but the tentative steps they are now taking are at least in the right direction though hardly adequate.

Bush’s clearly impeachable offenses be common knowledge amongst the general population, he would already be out of office and likely facing criminal charges.
In an ACTUAL democracy the public is able to make informed decisions largely due to the efforts of an independent, active media accustomed to subjecting the official statements of policy makers to scrutiny and critical analysis. Contrast this ideal with the American corporate media’s wretched performance as the Team Bush pom-pom squad during the lead up to the US assault on Iraq in early 2003. Its uncritical, highly credulous reporting of the Team Bush distortions of the Iraqi “threat” to this nation was instrumental in drumming up popular support for the war—-all based on a pack of lies.
The case for impeachment can be outlined as follows:
(1) The base deceptions and lies to Congress and the American public in justifying the launching of a war of aggression upon sovereign Iraq;
(2) Deliberate and repeated violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to monitor, without warrant, the communications of American citizens;
(3) Facilitating the mistreatment of US detainees in flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions and the War Crimes Act of 1996.
Note further that the Supreme Court has ruled that the Geneva Conventions DO apply to the treatment of detainees, and a federal judge has ruled that Team Bush cannot ignore and thus bypass FISA (witness Attorney General Gonzales’s recent about-face in announcing that henceforth the wiretapping program would now—-retroactively-—operate under FISA guidelines).
Compare and contrast these crimes of Team Bush with Bill Clinton’s blow job. This should be a simple matter, and would be in a functioning democracy—-the concept of which still escapes Doubter.
