Good Shooting - Bad Article
- A few days ago, Lester Childs told his 15-year-old son Dijohn he was running with the wrong crowd. And as he sat in front of the TV that night, Childs started to weep, convinced something bad was going to happen to one of his six adopted sons.
- Dijohn, a freshman at Fenger Academy High School, was shot to death in the home of an off-duty Chicago police officer at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the officer came home from work and found Dijohn in an upstairs bedroom during what appeared to be a burglary.
The entire article seems to be some sort of effort to generate sympathy for a burglar. Screw this jagoff. He picked the wrong house this time - game over. He lost. Too damn bad. And who the hell names their kid after mustard?
How about a couple of paragraphs about how this officer has probably lost his sense of security he might have had in his own home? Or maybe if this cop has family who were out when he came home, how devastating it must be that his wife and kids have lost a bit of their sense of safety? Or how police can be victims of crime just like other citizens? Or the money the officer is going to have to spend replastering and decontaminating his house from the bloodstains? Or the fact that everyone in the neighborhood is going to have to pay higher insurance premiums based on some dumbass who wasn't taught that stealing was wrong?
Hope the copper is doing well.

Off topic: All new police promotions have to sign the City of Chicago HR Employee Certification in regards to the Shakeman Degree. Did all 155 merit Sgts off the current list have to sign this document? There are 3 conditions on this form which pretty much state and I paraphrase, that you cannot be hired or any any existing city employee got his/her job because of any politcal reason or factor and then the last paragraph of this document states in verbatim the following. Political considerations MAY NOT enter in any manner whatsever into personnel decisions for the position that you are being hired to fill. You have to sign and certify that this document is accurate under the penalty of perjury and that if found not to be accurate disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Since we all know numerous merits made it with political help is anyone investigating this? Remember never lie to the FEDS if they come calling.......

God job by the officer, same will happen if anyone comes in my house after my dog chews the hell out of their throst! Violating someones home is unacceptable! Every good hard working citizen deserves to be safe and secure in their home. If his dad felt something bad was going to happen then he knew he had a bad kid! He may have no control over what his kid did, but he knew the kid had problems and should have done everything in his power to help him. Sorry for the loss of life but obviously the kid wasn't going to amount to much anyway.

I saw Channel 5's account of this at 5PM and they were so horribly slanted against the officer it was pathetic!!!! The reporter ended the clip with something like..."the officer remains on the job at this time." WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?
At least they interviewed several neighbors who said the copper is a respected member of the neighborhood and the kid got what he deserved...but they did end the interviews with one woman who said it was just wrong for the officer to shoot the poor young man.

This is now common place. If a Cop kills an offender involved in the criminal act of home invasion or even pulls a gun. The aftermath places the media on the same side of the criminal.
The teen offender is dead. Preventing, I'd say at least hundreds of crimes over a lifetime. Already, at 15 he is breaking into homes. The future was bright.
Did the cop half to shoot? Depends, but unless you are at the scene at the time, and its you and Dijohn. Only then one can play what if. But in the end the kid brought a knife to a gun fight and lost.
Yeah the parents are sad. The nieghborhood already hates cops, and when you stick a camera in their face they love saying how cops are evil. The media loves the sound bites.
What if these criminals where around reporter homes-and get the a reporters reaction to how they enjoy coming home to an armed offender(s) in their condo.

That officer and his "shoot first, reason with an intruder in the sanctity(sp?) of your own home" attitude should be looked at closely. What right does any man have to feel safe in his own home. To feel that his family is safe in their home. And since when is it morally correct to kill someone for being a trespasser... I mean, we all know NO ONE has ever broken into someones house with the intent of doing them ANY harm... this is Chicago.. it just doesn't happen!!!! I just know in my heart of hearts that poor poor Dijohn (poo poo as we call him) was in that officers house to LEAVE something, not take it. Probably to leave a token of thanks for the work that officer has done. Maybe a birthday card, maybe a quart of his own blood... oh wait, he did leave that. these teenagers have been killing 022and006 with daytime burglaries. there is a whole crew of them from 88/carpenter to 90/may and morgan, the people in the area know it and have been complaining. several other juvies have been caught from this group over the past few months. take a guess what happened to them in juv court. Well hopefully this teaches a few of them a lesson.
If the press wants to play dirty and show the officers address, or say it over the radio, or print it in the paper or Internet, perhaps turnabout is fair play. Maybe some reporters and their editors need their home addresses publicized. Perhaps special attention given to those organizations when they commit traffic violations. This message has been sent out before, and I think it is time to send it again.

Just so you know...there is a group of teenagers (GD's) from 80th/Ashland area that have been breaking into homes for at least a year. It is well known they carry weapons!! Mace/OC spray and guns!! Check out the Sun Times today. Two articles with curious symmetry. Page 6 has a story about the outrage in the Black community over white college students having "gansta" parties. The black community finds it offensive these students choose to have a little fun at the expense of these real life gangsters. Now the other side of the story. Page 12 catalogs how DNA has definitely tied M/B Clarence Trotter to the rape and murder of F/W Marilyn Dods in 1981. She was found in her bathtub facedown, naked with a sock in her mouth, a TV on top of her to hold her down causing her to drown. Gee, I can sure see how the Black community is outraged by both of these stories. However, the way I see it both stories depict the community in correct comparisons of "gangsters and murderers."

Stop blaming people and look to yourself for the reason a 15 was shot for felony breaking and entering.
The sun-times only enforces the sterotypes towards Afican-Americans. However, the times might speak ill of police officers and thier actions but "liberal views" the attack on police officers only masks the major lack of parenting, education, and peer behavoir on the south side.
The sad part is the overall trend of younger and younger offenders doing more serious crimes. The system isnt failing them (their parents are doing that), its failing us. Most juvenile crimes end up with a trip to the area and turned over to some relative who wolfs it up and acts like they are outraged by the childs behaviour and that is where it ends. So the end result is there is nothing to really punish them with. A trip to the audy home is a vacation from some of the roach infested holes they live in. But hey, keep trying to give them a hug and blame society for their problems. Parents with no accountability = child with no accountability.
That being said....... I guess now we know who killed Col. Mustard in the Foyer with the Gun...
