Off Duty Trouble
- Parents and community members voiced their concerns Thursday over a dispute that turned violent on Tuesday at an elementary school in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. Several students were injured and parents say school security guards are to blame.
- A source tells ABC7 that the Office of Professional Standards with the Chicago Police Department will likely be investigating the claims of brutality. That is because the day this incident happened, the security officers who were working for Chicago Public School were Chicago cops.
One wonders what kind of knee jerk reaction this little episode is going to bring out of the Department brass. Anyone else have the pleasure of the seeing if this "School Safe Passage" overtime initiative is actually making schools better places to be?

All Chicago public schools should be closed immediately, since they are ineffective and are incapable of educating anyone. The teachers' union won't allow ineffective teachers (and there are a LOT of them!) to be fired. Give the students' parents vouchers for real schools.
Did anyone else see the mutt-ette with the cast on her arm on the Channel 7 News regarding this incident, when she said, "The guards started pushing us all because they wanted us to move back, so we all pushed them back." She deserved to have her arm broken, even though no injuries were claimed on the day that this occurred.
Oh, and on the same newscast, 009th District Commander Roy appeared at a community meeting where the "citizens" (and I use that term very loosely) were "angered" and DEMANDED more police service in the area, due to the two (2) sexual assaults in the area of 48th & Winchester. This, despite the fact that none of those "angered" apparently spoke one word of English! Can you say "illegal immigrants"? "Demand", my ass!
From what I read in the newspapers the kid set off the metal detector (in a grammar school mind you)and then wouldnt stop for a search.
Then the other kids piled on the coppers ( of course) and then the parental outrage.
Heres the police tryint to make the schools safe and the kids theyre trying to protect dont want to follow the rules for protection

Why is it that when school children of Englewood, Austin, Filmo fight in the schools it is always someone else's fault? God help us when a parent shows up because they start fighting too. Have you noticed a demographic commonality at schools where the police have to be there every frickin day. Call it what it is, and stop with the political correctness and pandering to the minority vote in exchange for turning a blind eye to violent and savage behavior. As soon as I retire I'm getting the hell out of this state, it gone to the dogs and its only getting worse.
There are still some part time off duty jobs I wouldn't take, and that's one of them. Today's inner city youth, for the most part, are out of control, have no respect for authority, and the parents are nowhere around when these ruthless little bastards are showing out.
I'm sure those kids KNEW they were dealing with Police, and it didn't stop them from fighting them.

The saddest thing about this situations is that a "dispute" at a school had to turn violent. Weren't these parent(s) simply picking up report cards? HEY PUNK.Cinderheads work a cushass schedule w/ every 5th day off. Which more than affords them the opportunity to work a trade. We work 6 days and are alot of time in court our days off.
Nobody wakes up in the morning with the intent to kill a firemen. There's wall @ 35th street that will continue to grow because of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I suggest you go down there& get educated before you draw comparisons...

The International Olympic Committe should visit our fine schools, either way at least one problem gets fixed......no olympics or a better school system (for about a year). I agree with one of the previous posters, I wouldn't touch a school detail with 1,000 foot pole. I didn't have coppers and metal detectors when I went to grammar and high school (80's), but then I guess that was a different time when parents raised/disciplined thier kids.....now we seem to have too many genetic F!@#-ups that mom should've swallowed wandering around.

Just read an article in the paper seems the firehouse over at 56 and narragnsett is getting a brand new kitchen, for 80K so the tan one can cook and show his little muscles and pics of him in his g-string to the other girls there! We get paid to workout, play cards, watch movies. DID I MENTION SLEEP YET! We do NOOOO paperwork unlike you idiots, we dont drive around and get fat. We dont have to listen to peoples problems. We have a me too clause so every raise you guys get we get as well....but every raise we get you dont get....lol Man i could go on for days righting the pros of our job and the cons of yours but i will not rub it in anymore.....have a good day at roll call oh and enjoy the gps systems.....they will be in every car within the next 2 years.....lol

I am a Police Officer and let me tell you and your buddies what I enjoy. I enjoy writing fireman and their family’s tickets; movers and parkers. I enjoy looking for fireman union stickers and plates on cars and making sure that they are in compliance with the IVC (Illinois Vehicle Code) TO THE LETTER. I enjoy calling the Inspector Generals office on fireman. And I especially enjoy when I pull a fireman or their family over and they whine, cry, and beg not to get a ticket, but I write them anyway. I won’t even begin to tell you and your buddies how much you make my day when you and your families tell me that I can’t write them because they themselves or their daddy, brother, mother, sister, boyfriend, or husband is a fireman!!! So sit their and enjoy your nice soft job and know it is because of the Police that you and your families sleep soundly at night.
Oh, and the next time those blue lights go on behind you start praying that I am not the Officer pulling you over!

Far south side school last week; four mothers physically fighting in the office, all arrested...see anything in the paper? No! It's routine. The grammer schools are as bad if not worse than the high schools, and the girls are worse than the boys.
As a "young" officer on the job I visit this blog to stay informed. Often the information found here is correct and informative. However, some of the comments made are just racist with no value. If so many officers are burned out and tired of working in the "ghetto" submit a par form and transfer!
When asked for proof that racism still exist (many Caucasians don't think that it does) I forward my friends of all races to this web site. The site where "Chicago's Finest" get to say what's really on their mind!

When I went to school,and it realy wasn't very long ago, there were no police officers there, but we did have teachers that would and did provide discipline and I mean HANDS ON, as in hit you if you needed it. What is so wrong about that? I have been in both Chicago public schools and in private Catholic schools and they are as different as night and day, I literally learned nothing from the public schools other than that I realy didn't have to do much to pass, however when I went to a Catholic high school, I realized that I was ill prepared but I attended summer school, learned how to study and caught up to the other kids and did very well,but had it not been for the dicipline I recieved, I might have failed. I say we should pull the police out of the schools, take the cuffs off of the teachers and tell parents who complain to get bent. They haven't taught their own kids how to behave so they will learn it in school. Police officers are not teachers and do not belong in schools.
why can't the CPD get a boss who has the balls to get on the liberal evening news and tell these ghetto people of chicago to teach their children at a young age that fighting the police is wrong? These parents should tell their kids, "if you fight the police you are going to get your ass kicked and you will only make your arrest worse."
