The worst part about this job, besides the politics and upper echelon corruption, is the loss of so many brothers and sisters both that I've known and those I haven't. That includes the suicides too. Way too many. The media and even many of the people on this Dept. like Monique Bond, just don't get the bond that builds between those who have been out there and seen and done the things we have done. Dead babies, grandmas beaten near to death by their hype grandsons, stairwells filled with piss and crap, not being able to stand still in an apt. because of the roaches, being called every name in the book while trying to help...

I couldn't walk into the station quick enough, because he walked towards the train. The look on his face said it all and there was nothing I could ... do.

Jose played basketball with a bunch of police and fire men. Sometimes guys there get a little fired up but Jose was always a friendly, coolheaded, pleasant guy. Nobody playing could ever say anything bad about him. It was my honor to have known and shared those special times with him. My heart breaks knowing such a special person was taken from us. All of Area 4 and some of 3 are working the case and Area 5 is covering them. As F---ed up as things get sometimes in this department keep the faith we will get em!

A correction to this post SCC - this officer was killed in the 12th district. Western in the border. My guess is that is was a mutt from St Stevens complex.
2500 block of Harrison is in 011. Beat 1135. Unless you're talking about a different homicide, Officer Vazquez was killed in 011

Not only were you a co-worker but also a friend in the truest meaning.It is hard for me to accept the fact that you are now gone.For all the times we put ourselves in harms way and yet survived only to laugh about it later makes it that much harder to believe that you were taken away from us the way you were.Perhaps God has bigger plans for you in Heaven than here on earth.I will forever cherish the memories I have of you and will continue with a stronger vengence to do battle against the enemy as we once did in SOS.

Body: If anyone has seen the news lately an officer was killed on Monday morning. this officer was on my mothers team and is also a man that I have met on unmoors occasions. So if any of you that are reading this are the type to pray, will you please mention him, his family, friends and his team in your prayers. Jose and my mother were part of a elite team or should I say family that patrolled the shity streets of Chicago so we all can sleep a little safer at night when on his way home from a 2nd job his life was taken by a no good for nothing piece of sh%*.
Thank you all for the incredible support and kind words. I just wanted to say Jose IS an exceptional Chicago Police Officer and the BEST partner a guy can ever have. He's been my partner for seven great years. Not one single disagreement, not one argument. He cannot be replaced. He was always ready to get the bad guy. Thats what it was all about. He always had my back. Didnt matter what shitty hood we were in, I always felt safe knowing he was my right hand man. He wasnt just my partner, hes was my guy, my best buddy..I miss him alot. I feel lost w/o him. Dont forget about em. Keep the heat on the animals. Dont let off. GOD BLESS YOU BRO...UR WITH ME FOREVER. O.J.
First of all I would like to say thank you to all the men and women of the finest police department in the world that are out there working hard to catch this killer. Secondly I want to thank say thank you to all those that took the time out of their busy schedules to leave a positive post here in memory of Jose. It has not gone unnoticed and in fact has brought me to tears. Lastly, I want to share with everyone what type of person Jose was. We all have a good friend that we care about and feel extra special about. We all have that one good friend that we know we can count on to be there when we need him and tell our secrets to. We all have a good friend that we brag about and like to share with others. Well for us Jose was that good friend and he was that good friend to many people. And now we have shared him with you. My sympathy to the Vazquez family, to his partner, to his Sgt and to his team in SOS.
I worked alongside Jose in SOS and he "is" a wonderful person. We yet again lose another good one. May he sleep with the angels for eternity.

thank you for all the book suggestions. and just to reassure you all, i'm not "thinking about doing anything stupid", I'm just really upset over the loss of such a good man & police officer in such a senseless manner.
