Another Dead Altar Boy
How long until the pictures start appearing of the dead teen in his cap and gown or the altar boy get up? We say by tonight's 10 o'clock news coverage of the Pizza Delivery robberies here at Channel 2, Channel 7, Tribune and the Sun Times.
- An undercover Chicago police officer posing as a pizza delivery driver shot and killed a 15-year-old boy late Saturday night after the teenager allegedly tried to rob him.
Police said three suspects tried to rob the officer, who was part of an investigation into a string of robberies of food delivery drivers on the South Side. An alert had been issued about robberies in the area between 75th and 83rd Streets and Kedzie and Homan Avenues.
"String of robberies." "An alert had been issued." Remember those phrases when the baby's momma-drama starts up in time for the next news cycle. Let's see which news outlet starts the BS first - our money is on Channel 7. Good shooting people. Excellent job.

Seems like these pizza robbery patterns occur ever couple of years. Historically CPD does a great job a posing as delivery drivers and ending these patterns. Great job to those involved from your fellow Det. from the northside.

When a det gets in a shooting another area handles it for integrity sake, no conflict etc.
Area 4 handled it because Area 1 was involved. Plain and simple.
Why does Chicago become like other cities and have public safety officers? We all would work 8hr. shifts. Changing between fire and police every period. This would work. Both trained in both jobs.
What would happen if Seiser and Purpleshades ran into each other? Would the world end as we know it? Side note TRU steals time from city on a daily basis.....

Whenever a Detective is involved in a shooting, the investigation is done by detectives from another area, not by the detectives from the area that the detective worked in. Nothing unusual about it.

If a Det. is involved in a shooting, another Area has to conduct the investigation.
Since it involved an Area 1 personnel an Area 1 detective cannot investigate (be it on-duty or off-duty). It is normal procedure.
If nobody is going to eat the pizza, I'll be glad to take it home with me after work :-)

when a detective is involved in a shooting the Area he/she works in can't handle the shooting/roundtable. That's why Area 4 handled it.

A4 handled the case because the officers involved in the shooting were assigned to A1. The detectives assigned were all top notch guys--some of the best on this job--and I would want them to handle my shooting anyday. Good job all around by everybody. The kid in the car turned out not to be involved, just a little comedy thrown into the mix; the third offender was caught by beat guys after someone called in a suspicous person call after most everyone else had left. FYI.
watched channel 5's account of this incident. truly disgusting the way ms. jacobson continues to prostitute herself to present these one sided anti-police stories. any coppers who think these people are objective to any degree is delusional. not a word about the previous victims of these robberies or what a scourge this element is to our community. we can all thank corless when he was commander of 008 for letting the park go.

That night had to be one of the weirdest nights in 008. Sgt. S. is one hell of a copper and i'd go to hell and back for him in a heartbeat. I'd do this because I know he'd do the same for me. It's sad to see a great copper with all that experience and knowledge go. Kid was a shithead and had an active warrant.

Well, this was fun.
The wife and I went looking at open houses today. We really want to be north, but for a brief moment considered moving to Garfield Ridge.
I checked the crime stats for the west end of G.R. I was appalled by the criminal histories of some of the current residents. Forget that. We will suffer and pay more for living safely up north.
Today we looked in Big Oaks and Norwood Park (not The Triangle, mind you). I am well aware that the farther north you go the farther north the prices go, but I was unaware that the sellers were permitted to leave their houses in such horrible conditions. If the houses were updated and well cared for MAYBE they could fetch the prices they were asking, but not the houses we looked at today.
The first house was allegedly owned by a retired CPD. I almost puked when we walked in. The hard wood was creaky and actually worn out in spots. The wood was pulling away from the base boards, which were loose themselves. NOTHING in the house was updated since the 1970's. The garage looked like it was in a fire or had bad water damage. I'd say there would have to be $50,-75,000 worth of upgrades needed.
We looked at two that were 2 bedrooms. I have learned that there is no such thing as a starter home anymore. If the first three in the Zip code are 606 it's $400,000+. As a young couple why would I spend $400,000 on a 2 bed house? To upgrade to a $500,000 3 bed later? I don't make enough to get the $400,000 one first!
The forth house was nice. It was a short range. The dining table was in the basement! Ok.
The houses north of I-90 were jokes. Two has similar make ups. One was an estate sale and the other the old granny was moved out so the kids can try to sell the house. Both had not been updated since the 1950's! I'm all for nostagia, but these two were just sick. I thought I was back in the burbs walking into my grandparent's house! I was looking for the framed picture of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
At final open house, a bungalow 2 doors off of Touhy ave, the realtor had to jiggle the stuck screen door several times before he could get it to open. Before we even stepped in, we asked the agent how much they were asking. Without batting any eye, he told us $465,000. We chuckled, turned around and left.
Guess we will continue to rent.

Get over yourself. It's better that the Sarg went home instead of "The little angel." The kid got everything he deserved. When I left work tonight, the ASA approve charged against 2 offenders for the 1st degree homicide of their homey and a string of other chagres.
Unfortunately, they're both 14, so they can't be charged as adults. Attempts to do that will be done in juvenile court.
And, A/1 is looking to clear up dozens of other robberies.

Aside from your occasional idiot, most are not cheering that a black teenager was killed, but that a criminal who pointed a gun at an officer and thereby placing his life in danger lost, and the good guys went home safe. I would say that most of the remarks are a reaction to what is portrayed by the media. They are the ones making sure that everyone knows it involved a black teenager. They are the ones who interview the family (who are the ones to blame for him turning out to be a criminal in the first place) and then plaster the anti-police b.s. on the evening news. And it almost seems like the more uneducated they are, the more likely they will make the news. So when something like this happens most coppers react by coming to the defense of the coppers involved and make fun of EXACTLY what the media shows.
You should be asking yourself this: If it was a white teenager, would the news treat it the same? the answer is probably not.
Sgt. S: The real police. PERIOD. The 2nd Deputy will always be respected by those who know you. You will be missed Dave!!! How about a couple more years????

Back in my PO days, I have had to arrest a few coppers kids who had been involved in stealing cars, breaking into homes, even committing sexual assaults. Not once did any of these kids' Police parents ever say to me that they knew their kid was committing these criminal acts. Never.

My days as a PATROLMAN have been over for quite a while now. But I have never stopped being the POLICE. Being civil to a fellow officer and not embarrassing our profession by posting some of the blatantly ignorant posts here doesn't make me any less of a man.

When you speak to people like you post here in public, and find that your watch commander has no option but to place you in the Behavior Intervention Program, don't come back here to blast them for "messing you over." To "the views" comment...i work in 008 and am familier with the kid that got killed and have dealt with his mother. his mother is one of the biggest racist dogs that hates the police and could care less what her kid does. She could care less what her kid was up too and knew that he was out hustlin on the street. when we went looking for him cause he had a warrant for armed robbery. she answered the door and she said, and i quote, "I aint seen him for a day or two, hes probley out hustlin cause he aint been up in here for a minute." She is completly careless and im sure all she has now is dollar signs in her eyes. i know from my experience with her she could care less and is just actin for the cameras...

Yup. That'll do it EVERY time.
My old Partner was Lonnie Seagroves(RIP) and I heard a million DS stories. All of them proving he is THE POLICE. So "The View" (and what an appropriate name that is) the reason the Sgt took this assignment is he is a leader. I know at least 10 guys volunteered for this assignment but their leader took the lead on this case and did not let his guys take any heat for this incident. By the way Police Dept Management this is the kinda guy Police officers go through the gates of hell for because this is what a leader/boss should be.
As for the comment "What if it was my kid?" It wouldn't be my kid. I've already raised a kid and busted my ass (sidejobs, OT, Court, special, Coaching, Parent Teacher conferences, Helping with homework, playing catch, and just making time to hang out with my kids). It was hard work but I'm proud of my kids and what they have become. Do you think babysmamma put in an eighth of the time I put in. Except in incidents of mental illness the apple does not fall far from the tree.
