CTA President Frank Kruesi, who has become a lightning rod for criticism among CTA riders and legislative leaders, resigned today and handed the reins to Mayor Daley's corruption-fighting chief-of-staff Ron Huberman.
Although Huberman's only transportation experience is the three years he spent driving a school bus while working his way through college, Daley said he has demonstrated the toughness and management expertise he needs to make the cost-cutting decisions lawmakers will demand in exchange for more funding.
Gee, his "transportation experience just about matches his street experience as a copper. So we guess technically, he could still be eligible for the top spot.
And a more serious note, do we have a list of potential nominees? The Police Board thing is all smoke and mirrors as demonstrated on numerous occasions. Who are the real frontrunner's?

Huberman is being set up to take a very well deserved fall. The CTA is soooooooooo screwed up, no one but an absolute expert can straighten out the problem. His demands regarding his positions have finally caught up with him. They are just waiting for an opening on 2411.

The cta needs to hire more people that are managers! huberman is a "miracle kid", and daley trusts him all the way! what will he change? really probably not to much! the cta is multi-millions short, and the el tracks in some places are over 100 years old and are falling apart! huberman will most likely expand the orange line all the way to ford city as originally planned, and then get the circle line on the board. maybe he will even make sure the bus and train are clean.

Since the inception of the CTA, a consolidation of several private traction lines, the CTA has never, ever made a profit. All the years and generations and not one profitable year. What will Huberman do? The same as the rest, try to stop the bleeding until a new artery bursts. Then he will be replaced.
Now if Huberman is taking over CTA, that means, and let me be the first to say, the great BILL MOSS has an even better chance at Supe! It's a working copper's dream come true!
If Huberman is in fact out, watch for Daley to appoint former federal prosecutor and current inspector general David Hoffman as Supt. with Sgt. Keating as 1st. deputy.
Word has it from sources on the 5th floor; Daley is bringing in an outsider for Chicago's top cop posistion. Daley found out that several of Chicago's finest were covertly electioneering for a non "machine" candidate in a certain North side ward. He was so pissed that his incumbent lost, thanks to the cold hearted tactics employed by these officers. He was quoted "those silly, silly, really silly fuckers" and proceeded to put the now unemployed North side alderman into the highest office of the CPD. Thanks for a job well done!

I thinks that Huberwoman can handle both positions, head of the CTA, AND CPD Police Superintendant; at the same time, as he is such a mastermind. He could have cops drive the busses to calls, and after handling the jobs, pick up and drop off the CTA passengers along their beat. The CTA busses could make traffic stops along the route, and cameras on the busses could record it all. And, Hube could have his own custom bus, painted with the rainbow flag paint job,plus it could be the terrorist response vehicle, and when not in use as such, Hube could cruise around and sell Kool-Aid and cookies. I also think Hube could be Deputy mayor too. We are so lucky to have him, he's almost like having a real-life UNDERDOG protecting our city....WOO-WOO-WOO !!!

This was just reported on CNBC, as to the olympics. China, who holds the 2008 Olympics has spent an astounding 50 Billion dollars on the 2008 games. This is no bull shit. Insofar as Huberman he is an Israeli citizen with duel citizenship in the united states. in other words he is a Jew and served in the Israeli army I have never understood how Homeland security did not question why he was in charge of the 9-11 system, I for one though putting him in charge was a serious breach????
