You have to love when the guy in charge gets to set all the rules and make all the hiring decisions. We thought the mayor didn't handle the day-to-day stuff like this?
- Mayor Daley today turned down a request from his corruption-fighting inspector general for 10 more investigators to police hiring abuses in the wake of the city hiring scandal.
- Two weeks ago, Hoffman brought his New York City counterpart to Chicago to address the mayor’s cabinet in an effort to bolster his case for 10 more investigators.
- Today, the inspector general got his answer, but it was not the one he was looking for. The answer was no.
Imagine that. Why have any additional bodies poking around in the hiring process when Daley claims its all clean now? Would the mayor lie?

my sense of it: da mare has his a$$ up (his ego and arrogance has taken a hit) about the whole Shakman thing, and having a federal court and the federal monitor watching and checking every hiring and promotion; THE remedy, in my view, is to empower a federal grand jury, to take testimony from every department head and manager who particpates in hiring and promotional decisions. As far as the CPD is concerned, let's start marching current and former exempt members, capt's, and lt's, into the grand jury room to answer questions with regard to promotions and assignments; let the grand jury also subpeona all dept. documents realtive to hiring and promotion in, say, the last five years or so....
An even better question is why does Daley have the decision here?
"Can you have more people that will be used to put me in prison?"

OFF TOPIC: 15 year-old raped in Merrimac Park (Irving/Naragansett) locker room today by two knife wielding assailants. Springtime in 016-Come outside and meet our new neighbors who moved in over the winter.
Daley is only interested in only covering his ass and he will sacriface anyone suitable to fool the feds(ie,his own cousin).Of course the Feds will fall for it cuz they are a bunch of farmers and hayseeds from Iowa and Nebraska.

In order to find the funding to increase the staffing at the Office of the Inspector General the Mayor only has to remove the bodyguards from Alderman Burke, Mayor Sawyer and other political heavyweights. He also could remove the guard service from Obama's residence.
Won't happen though because our politicians are happy with being driven around, receiving valet service and who would go get their lunch and coffee when they desire same.

True! Why did the new city clerk tell cline "The police belong on the street not as drivers?". Why does the city treasurer have only 1 driver at a time while burke the king always have 2 in the front seat? all making sergeants D-3 pay? This is all politcal bullshit if the supt had balls he would at least take some of burkes drivers away after all 6 is way to many!! at that rate of pay with overtime burke is costing the city over $700,000 per year plus the cars!
why are the guys on these special details working at D-3 rate with overtime then working special (taking from the D-1 coppers), they can work many days more than us they work 12 hour shifts 14 days a period plus O.T.? How much is enough?
