Metal Detectors "Fail" Again
Is this a nationwide phenomenon? Or are these things unplugged and unmanned far more than the public is permitted to know about?
- The freshman girl told police she was "tired of getting picked on," so she took a mace to school.
Not Mace, the pepper spray.
Mace, as in a medieval weapon.
A long wooden stick attached to a metal chain with a spiked ball on the end.
- Charmella Greer of the Gary Community School Corp. said disciplinary action will be taken. As for how the student got the weapon past metal detectors, Greer said, "I have no idea. ..."
We have an idea. And we also heard the metal detectors at CVS were unmanned because the single security guard running the machines had to take someone to the Dean's office and left the devices unattended, leaving a critical window in which to smuggle a gun in. What else has been smuggled in that no one knows about yet?

Didn't catch that Ophra show, very rarely do, but what books was he given out.
I recall a talk show guest years ago saying that he could go to any library anywhere in the world and find, "The Communist Manifesto", or books on Che Guevara or Mao Tse Tung in the local language. What he could not find was "Common Sence" by Thomas Payne or books on Abraham Lincoln or Martin Luther King.

That's the same BULLSHIT that was put out by the gungrabbers in the early 1980's when the Glocks were first introduced.
If you put a minimum wage, ignorant S.O.B. manning the metal detector you could get a Sherman tank through it. A properly used metal detector will pick up not only the smallest Glock but also a razor blade or my titanium artificial knee.
You get what you pay for in this case.
With the quality of the work force, it wouldn't have surprised me if she also had a horse and suit of armor through the detector.

The best you can hope for if you're a victim of a crime is that the responding paper car can do a decent report and the offender is caught and linked to your crime. If you happen to be the victim of a violent crime, that will be of little comfort. The police are not legally responsible for the protection of an individual, just society as a whole. The responsibility for you and your families safety rest entirely on you. If you wish to pass that responsibility off to a copper who is coming from 2 miles away,you get what you deserve.

Technically, I think that weapon is a flail, not a mace.
think about this next time you lock up your gun at city impoundment court. how well do you think those low paid, unarmed security people do their job at screening the angry people who lost their prized ride. that place is a disaster waiting to happen. why does the city dissarm the police at this facility? why are there not police working security there? someone is going to have a big payout lawsuit !

Even the TSA gets caught when tests are done and "weapons" are slipped through. If one determined person wants to do something bad enough, they will and nothing will stop them. PEOPLE HAVE TO BE TRAINED FOR SAERCHES AND METAL DETECTORS. HELL IVE SEEN OFFICER BRING GUYS TO THE AREA WITH SHOT GUNS IN THEIR PANTS.

How about hiring more animal control officers to restrain these savages!
The metal detectors in CPS are useless. Back when I was a sub I passed through one for about a week straight with a solid metal multitool on my belt. The security staff were completely baffled when I brought this to their attention and let them use the tool to test and calibrate their machines. I was left with the suspicion they didn't know how to calibrate a bowel movement, let alone a metal detector.
Glock pistols going thru metal detrectors? There should be a gun ban? When we didn't take weapons to school, we didn't need metal detectors, we didn't have police officers stationed in the school and we got suspended, not arrested if we messed up at school.

If you're talking about the gun incident that happened in 024, they didn't steal them. After the husband got locked up, the wife turned them over to the police (hell hath no fury like a woman scorned).
They were properly inventoried and put in the "gun safe", which at the time was a cabinet behind the desk, secured by a screwdriver. Even though it was not properly secured, there was no way you could go in there without being seen.
The guns disappeared between the time they were placed in the gun safe and when the owner went down to ERPS with the release form to get them back.
A CR number was obtained. The desk crew and arresting officers were exonerated. I don't know what happened regarding the rest of the people who allegedly came in contact with the guns.
