Keep Voting Democratic

  • Senate President Emil Jones used a loophole Friday to gut legislation that would have cut electric rates for millions of ComEd customers, a move that also may cripple efforts to roll back prices in southern Illinois.

The maneuver stunned the sponsor of the rollback legislation, a member of Jones' Democratic majority.

''This is not fair, ladies and gentlemen. I want to tell you right now, it's not fair,'' said Sen. Gary Forby, D-Benton.

But Jones, D-Chicago, reiterated his position that a rollback wouldn't provide consumers immediate relief. ''We must quit giving people false hope,'' he said.

The maneuver came moments after Forby had scored a major victory in his efforts to cut electric prices that surged in January after a 10-year rate freeze ended.

This is what happens when government intrudes into what should be a free market economic decision. Complete and utter chaos. Com-Ed isn't about to go bankrupt and we aren't all going to be living in the Dark Ages even if they did. But trust the Illinois Democratic Party to be leading the charge into the worst of all possible scenarios.

Channel 7 also covers.

PAYCHECKS FUC%ED UP AGAIN!!!!!

YES, ONCE AGAIN either Finance or the Comptrollers Office has screwed up the checks. Close to 1000 Special Employment checks have been shorted drastically. Is this shit getting old or what????

The FOP and PBPA can not do anything about it as of this time. I suggest that in the next contract it should be agreed upon if you do not receive a paycheck (or it’s short) the Finance Division has 7 days to fix it. If not, compounded interest should start piling up.

The SOLUTION NOW - - NO PAY = NO WORK !!!!

Many have stated that if they do not receive the thousands of dollars that some are owed in the next few days; they will be going either I.O.D. or on the medical.

Do some think this is wrong??
You’re not a ‘team player’ if you do this??
You took this job not because of the money??
BULLSHIT!!! The Non-Softballs took this job to put food on the table!!

I can see if the city drops the ball once, twice, even 3 times because of this new “C.H.I.P.S.” payroll system. However this is about the 10th time it has happened. It is NO LONGER A NEW PAYROLL SYSTEM. The media has exposed this already.

HELLO SARGE?? PUT ME ON THE MEDICAL.

My special employment deposit advice is correct, the problem is that IT ISN'T IN MY ACCOUNT.

Wasn't there yesterday, last night or this morning.

A survey of POs on my watch going to their bank websites show it isn't in their accounts either.

They'll come up with some bullshit excuse and it will be there Monday, I'm sure glad it isn't a financial emergency at my house, but I am sure there are some POs who are hurting right now for it.

Of course, you can't get ahold of anyone at the FOP today. I am of the opinion that there should be a "duty officer" at the FOP that can field calls and inquiries on the weekend.

Com Ed gave Jones $240,000 in boodle and bribes- oops, campaign funds. What do you expect. the real harm here, besides Jones, is CUB. They have held the rates down so low that now there is only one way to increase them- a whole lot. I say ban the Citizen's Utility Board. Then make everyone pay their bill. No Com Ed entitlements for the supposed poor. If they want electricity, heat, or water they could get a job and pay for them like the rest of us hard working people who keep getting screwed by the Democratic Party.

You dumb fuck! In any industry if a product is popular, competing companies, providing the same product, lower the price in the interest of competition. But, oh yea, there's only one electrical supplier, so they can set the prices. Jones pulled that shit because adding Com-ed to the bill pissed off his "contributor". They pulled Com-ed off of the bill, it passed, and Amrean customers (downstate) got their price freeze. Motion to fix.

Hey 7:03, remember a couple of years ago when Com Ed wanted a rate hike? Remember the reason? Thats right, people were cutting back on their energy use which meant lower revenues for Com Ed which translated into a request for a rate hike. So you can turn your TV and A/C off as much as you want, it won't make a difference. They will still want a windfall profit.

Ohhh...I remember those horrible Carter years.....terrorism on our soil....thousands dying.....getting involved in unwinable wars so the rats corporate buddys could profit..

Actually, it was years of appease and retreat, appease and retreat. If carter had confronted Iran over the hostage taking when it occurred, the current head of Iran might not be pursuing nuclear weapons as he led the embassy takeover.

...wetbacks pouring in by the millions and the idiot Carter wanting to give them amnesty..

Illegals have been pouring in before and after Carter. It isn't a new problem. Bush is the one taking steps to remedy it and being hamstrung by a democratic congress. look it up.

..hey remember when that traitor Carter fought tooth and nail to give port security over to the Abba-Dabbas while we were bombing the shit out of their kin ?

We were bombing Dubai? Could you point out any sort of historical documentation of this "fact"? Oh, wait a minute - from your "wetback" comment, you must mean that all Arabs are exactly the same. Got it. Silly us, we forgot we were talking to a left wing turd so racism is ok.

Remember when Carter tried to turn Social Security over to Wall Street.....Christ,did that fuck-up do anything right???

We remember when Carter raised taxes through the roof in an effort to increase social program payouts to generations of do-nothings and then blamed Americans for living in a "malaise" and not working harder to provide for the less fortunate - as if it was our responsibility to fund his social programs and keep nothing for ourselves. Reagan came in, slashed tax rates, let us keep more of our money and the economy took of for the largest peacetime expansion in history.

Social Security in it's present form is doomed. And if you're CPD, you ain't getting any anyway. You think there's a "locked box" with everything people pay into SS tucked away somewhere in Washington? Wrong. All that money is spent - spent by successive idiot administrations of all stripes, granted. Turning the money over to investment funds is going to be the only way to save it - the taxes that will have to be raised otherwise will bankrupt the global economy.

Go read some history kid. Then come debate. We feel lilke we're beating up on a one armed midget here.

First up, the average price of gas under Carter was never less than 39 cents per gallon. And the average wage for CPD was somewhere in the neighborhood of $15,000, probably a bit less. So if you are going to make comparisons, you better translate everything into relative earning power. Otherwise, you have no standing here. Per gallon, in 1976 dollars translated into today's prices were still HIGHER in 1976. Look it up.

Interest rates were skyhigh, so whee mortgage rates. It'd be nice to have had CDs at the inflated rate, but the mortgage interest? You can't afford a house now, think about a 30 year mortgage at 12 or 15 or 18%.

And we have no idea who's ass you're pulling the hostages as an October surprise engineered by the Bush family. The hostages were taken on 04 November 1979, a full year from the following Presidential election, and held for 444 days. Bush wasn't even chosen as Reagan's running mate until well after the event.

Lay off the kool aid - you're obviously suffering brain trauma.

Most Americans allowed Al Frankin to tell them that Bush's SS plan would force them to put their money in the nasty old stock market. When in fact it was entirely voluntary. The SS fund right now, as it has since the Kennedy administration, has no money in it. If you had some of your money in a stock or bond fund (under the plan you could also put that money in CDs) it would be there. Democrats relied on the stupidity of their followers. They new that their Kool Aid drinkers would never actually get the facts on their own. If your child could start investing in the stock market when he gets his first job at 16, he will not have to ever worry about his retirement, he will be wealthy. But that won't happen now because of your ignorance. Basically you screwed your kids.

Appease and retreat? How did Jimmy Carter appease the Iranians? He reinstated that all male citizens upon reaching 18 years of age sign up for the draft. He ordered the failed rescue attempt. And finally he assisted in the release of all the hostages. As far as appease and retreat, there were over 200 Marines killed in Beirut in 1983. Reagan ordered that deployment out of Lebanan shortly after the bombing.

I'm afraid not my friend. What we are paying for now is price of American Empire. We (more accurately the Truman Administration) opened this can of worms with the overthrow of Iran's democratically elected Mossedega in '53.

You see, Mohammad Mossedega made the mistake of believing that the Iranian people should have sovereignty over their nation’s natural resources—oil in this particular case—so he introduced legislation which the Iranian parliament ratified nationalizing the oil industry. The British government, however, didn’t quite see it that way. At the time Iran’s oil industry was controlled by the oil giant that would later become British Petroleum. In exchange for a sizable portion of the lucrative oil concessions at stake, the Truman administration was induced by the British to help snatch this valuable prize from the Iranian people. Well the CIA went to work and out went Mossedega—and democracy—and in came the Shah and 25 years of terror and ruthless oppression.

In 1979 the people of Iran did something about it. This, however, was something the Masters of The Universe could not abide. For this act of defiance Iran, a nation that has attacked no one and occupies no other nation’s territory (something that cannot be said about the US, Israel or the UK) has become in the eyes of the neo-con fanatics, an “existential threat to humanity”. Go figure.

Stay safe

That may be but the economy is rolling along, they are estimating that we will have budget surplusses, this in a time of war! the stock market is hitting all-time highs, this in a time of war! New housing sales up 12% this in a time of war! I don't know about you but the Bush tax cuts put more money in my pocket, which I invested immediately!

If you go back and re-read your history, you will see that Clinton 's economy was the benefactor of Reagans tax cuts and economic plans, Clinton rode that wave for all it was worth, that wave actually continued until 9/11, then the economy tanked for about a year and then recovered to what it is now- it's in fine shape!
Clinton was the most embarrassing Presidency i've seen in my 37 yrs. on this planet, Carter and Nixon close behind.
