CTA Cuts
It must be nice to be the anointed one for this Administration. If you hold your nose long enough, you can do all sorts of dirty work for various Departments:
- Channel 5 - CTA President Ron Huberman said drastic cuts will be necessary to comply with a directive from the RTA as a contingency plan to balance its 2007 budget. He said in a release that he will recommend a plan calling for further administrative cuts, fare hikes, a 13 percent reduction in bus and rail service, and the transfer of nearly $57 million in capital funds intended for renovating buses and rail cars.
- Huberman said he is recommending this approach because of all the scenarios evaluated, it lessened the immediate impact on customers. 58 percent of the necessary funds would come from a transfer of capital and only 15 percent from service reductions and 21 percent from fare increases. Every scenario included 6 percent from administrative reductions.
6% Adminstrative reductions? Bwahahaha. You could cut out an entire layer of redundant bureaucratic middle managers at the CTA, not to mention the CPS and god only knows how many spots at our own 35th Street and probably save the taxpayers hundreds of millions. We haven't read how he's going to gut pension contributions yet, but it's coming.

- Channel 2 - "We would have to develop plans to inform customers of the proposed changes. Basically, the timing of this announcement was driven by a number of factors. I point that out because some of you may jump to the conclusion that we are making this announcement in order to put pressure on the state legislature. Let me be very clear that this is not the case," Huberman said.
Ron, stop lying. This is exactly you putting pressure on Springfield - or rather, Daley acting through you. Even though we haven't sat down with an actual CTA Bus and Rail map yet, we notice a large number of the cuts appear to be in certain communities that tend to vote straight democratic. The puppetmaster continues to pull all the strings.

I cannot imagine living like him. There is no way he can look at himself in the mirror and like what he sees. He must not have a soul. I have a conscience and cannot understand how one can live without one. May GOD have mercy on your soul RH.
What a joke. Boy wonder was a joke at oec and he will be a joke at cta. Bet he's running around asking all the bus drivers what their opinions are of the dept and how they would see fit to fix the problems. He's very good at solicting feedback, then using it like it was an original thought. But here's the kicker he has no original thought,even the press conference he said nothing. Cut back and increase price. That should help things. I don't take a bus now because of lack of service and price. I'm sure this will really overflow the coin box.
At oec he created a chain of panic amongst all of the upper management, which naturally trickled down to the working stiff on the operations floor and inevitably outwards to the field units. He approved excessive punishments (suspension days) and put in place bosses who not only were incompetent but would give Hilter a run for his money.
I'm sure he will do the same thing to all of the poor saps working at cta. Good luck cta, dot your I's and cross your t's, if moral was down before it's about to plummet another ten stories.

It's a beautiful (and I'm sure expensive) building. If you want to laugh and cry at the same time, go see what comes in and out of that building wearing CTA credentials. Only six percent cuts there????? Shame on you Ronnie lad!

Who cares I dont ride the CTA, neither does my wife. Jack those fares up Ronny Boy it only hurts the people using that crap transit system.
If RH wants the po-po to pay to ride then don't ride. Not that a lot of us do, but once the bad guys know that po-po will only be there in uniform the fun

Don't worry, once he destroys the CTA, we WILL NEVER get the olympics here. So things might not be that bad after all. Furthermore, if he makes PO's pay for the bus/ train, I for one will never write another mover again because I refuse to pay to go to traffic court. Pay the fare to go to court to make the city money in court. This guy is a royal douche bag.

It's just amazing how a guy in that job for only a few weeks can have the forsight to run it and make major decisions so quickly!

That's why they keep moving you around Ron. You just don't get the big picture. As soon as you get into critical areas (that might F-ck up the administration), they more you to another important job within the city.

Some of the greatness of Seiser rubbed off on Huberman. Seiser doesn't need a phone call to Huberman or Daley. He can make it his own way.
