- Retiring Police Supt. Phil Cline on Monday urged Mayor Daley to choose an insider as Chicago's next top cop.
Cline said he has nobody specific in mind, at least not a name that he plans to share with the public. But he strongly disagreed with those who believe the bench is thin at the Chicago Police Department after a wave of retirements of top brass.
Cline announced his retirement April 2, but he has agreed to stay on until his successor is chosen later this summer.

Cline is merely parroting Daley's endless pursuit of mediocrity.
Captain Crunch will most assuredly suggest a close personal friend in his clout club. it will be another dissapointment. Expect no improvement.

Cline urging an insider be picked is sort of like Saddam Hussein urging his successor be picked from within the Baath Party.
I urge we get a superintendant from another country! Someone from some country far away from this mess here who might do things right.
If they promote from within again (and they probably will) they might as well let Cline stay in there so he can keel over after a few more cheeseburgers and that way his family can get line of duty death benefits like the former first deputy who dropped dead on his floor at home while on furlough. That was a grand theft on our pension fund and an insult to every officer on that wall who actually did lose their life in the line of duty.
After Cline has the big one maybe they can get some new classifications of duty related maladies: the cheeseburger award for those who cannot stop stuffing fat garbage food in their gullets; the marlboro award for those who get the big one after a lifetime of puffing on cigarettes and taking shit care of their health; the big fat tub of shit award for those who still insult our eyes when they waddle their lard asses around in uniform, this award will be a uni-sex non-discrimininational award, all sexes and races will be equally represented; the never did anything never will do anything no good for nothing award for the maxed out dog asses who masquerade as police officers.

Heard this rumor 2-day: Williams wants to be Supt. BUT supposedly he is in some hot water over the Area 4 Gun Team Video Tape Incident. Supposedly he was also in on keeping it low key and NOT taking any disciplinary action and concurring wtih Cline on letting them stay on the street. Hence Cline has gotta go, but will Willimas stay?

Yesterday IAD came in and pulled all of the A&A's and OT slips for the A/4 gun team and all of their search warrants for the last year. Do you think there might be some guys booking one way tickets out of the Country? One of them already ran back to 023 at the first sign of trouble...I don't think that'll be far enough though...

The second one about Cline and Daley in a shouting match I think might have happened. Cline was very unhappy and pissed off the day he announced his retirement.

Phil Cline does'nt have the balls to tell Daley to "go fuck yourself" If he did work up the balls and it did happen, do you think he would still be in position, I doubt it, he would have been gone that day. The little guys ego would not allow him to accept a "go fuck yourself" from Phil. Cline has never in his career had any balls and he has been especially balless around Daley.
cline is too much of a coward to yell at the struttering bioootch. He did all of his yelling back at 35th st.
