Rot in Hell Ryan!

  • Former Gov. George Ryan will remain free while he pursues a second appeal of his sweeping fraud and corruption convictions, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled late this afternoon.

In a crushing legal blow to the former governor earlier today, a three-judge panel from the appeals court denied Ryan's initial appeal 2-1. The judges found that Ryan received a fair trial last year despite a series of juror controversies.

Though Ryan had been allowed to remain free pending that appeal, the court had warned that Ryan and co-defendant Lawrence Warner would have to report to prison within 72 hours if they lost it. Ryan faces a 6 1/2 -year prison sentence.
According to a couple of legal opinions we've heard, Ryan's chances on appeal are slim, so he's still looking at Christmas with his family before reporting to prison. We only wish it were sooner.

PREDICTION:

In an en banc ruling, a majority of the entire Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals will overturn the conviction of former Governor and convicted felon George Ryan.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court will deny certiorari on the government's appeal. Ryan will die without serving a day in prison.

George will be on his knees in front of his cell mate, Aaron Patterson, begging for help.

Jim Thompson and Dick Webb should join George in the cell block for their misdeeds.

Can you imagine what Ryan knows about all these judges, how they got there, and their own political pocket stuffing? Remember, who his lawyer was and what law firm defended him.

He's not going anywhere.

Ryan made a mockery of our criminal justice system. Now thousands of convicts are asking for executive clemency. Cop killers are being released thanks to Ryan. The Dems get the state and put liberals on the Prisoner Review Board who lean towards the criminal.
Rot in hell Ryan. Prison isn't going to be tuff enough.

I would hope that he receives a new trial because he will be found guilty a second time as the 7th Circuit did say the evidence was overwhelming.

A new trial would cost Thompson and Webb another 20 million in lost billings.

Ryan belongs in a cell next to Jim Thompson and rat face Dan Webb.
I believe he has personal knowledge of inpropriety on both of them which explains why their law firm is defending Ryan pro bono to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.
Is Thompson still 'skimming' those law papers?
Mr US Attorney please put ALL those crooks in jail.

Dumb ass!! You disgust me!!

to quote an entry from John Kass' column in the Tribune, Wednesday, August 22, 2007: "and those six Willis children burned to death in a crash involving an unqualified bribe-paying-truck driver? The children were killed in 1994, and Ryan, then secretary of state, quashed the investigation, according to the jury that convicted him and the two judges who confirmed that conviction Tuesday.... Ben was 13. Joe was 11. Sam was 9. Hank was 7. Elizabeth was 3. Peter was 6 weeks old. They weren't politicians. THEY HAD NO CLOUT (my emphasis). They didn't belong to the combine. What kind of deal did they get?".....in looking at cases involving political and/or organizational (city, state, CPD, you name it) corruption, I think this: either the feds prosecute, convict, and the person goes to jail, or the person responsible is diagnosed with terminal cancer....fill in the blanks as you choose..
