Sometime Friday, between 1500 and 1600 hours, we hosted page view number 5 MILLION!
Two years four months and over 1.5 million visitors to reach 5 million page views. Certainly, we wish it wasn't scandals and coppers trying to kill other coppers that was driving the numbers over the past few days, but it is what it is.
In any case, thank you.
As a side note, we took down the "mirror site" over at SecondCityCop.typepad.com. It was only pulling in 100 visits a day, we never opened the comments section because we didn't want to be doing double the moderating, and we just didn't have the time or inclination to move all the links, archives and stuff over that direction.
This is what we have for now and it isn't doing bad.

It will be quite a surprise to all those new chicago readers to see how detested mayor Daley is to his own police force. Hopefully it will open their eyes to just how truly evil this guy is.

Before they hit the streets on any given day, officers must attend a mandatory meeting known as roll call. It's more than just taking attendance. Sergeants hand out assignments for the shift and check officers' uniforms and equipment. The supervisors brief officers about what's going on in the area.
The meetings generally last 12 minutes. Everyone there is paid overtime for coming in before his or her shift actually starts.
Nationwide, several cities besides Milwaukee have contract clauses that require overtime pay for roll call. It means that hundreds of department employees get an hour of overtime pay each week - or more than six days off a year in compensatory time - for a routine meeting.

Coppers are too funny. Here we have an open forum to pass on news, rumors, and gossip, and some asshole copper has to slam it. Then, we all sit around and wonder why the citizenry hates us. It's because of people like the above copper. He hates his bosses, his fellow PO's, the citizenry at large, and never has a nice word to say about anyone or anything. If you don't like this website, then don't read it. If you don't like your job, do us all a favor and get another one.

It's refreshing to see the other side of whats going on in the cpd. I was brought up in an era where the man in blue was respected and trusted! As much as I hate that rat of a mayor, how about giving him due respect when he sticks up for the police. You should at least mention the FRONT PAGE article where the mayor backs the rest of SOS. SCC - congrats, it seems as if this site is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully, you will not be a victim of your own success. I disagree with many of your views but I must visit the site at least 4-5 times a day just looking for info or a new prospective. I think the fact that you are moderating comments has been instrumental in your success because otherwise the goofs, police and civilian, that contributed to the downfall of the last Second City Coppers website would have overrun this one. Even though there is still the occasional name calling and uncivil behavior, for the most part there is some interesting discourse. Hope you are able to keep it up because it has become important work.

Officer Talbot was shot and killed while participating an anti-gang operation. He was shot once in the head by a suspect in the parking lot of Revere High School.
He was transported to a local hospital following the shooting, where he remained in grave condition all day until succumbing to the wound.
Officer Talbot had served with the Revere Police Department for 5 years and was assigned to the Gang Unit. He is survived by his fiancee.

Any possibility you can lighten up on the kids. I have two that hang there. Several of their friends that are with them are also copper kids. In addition, there are a couple of Fire Dept. kids hanging around.
The kids have complained to me that “the cops” come around and start asking where is the pot, in addition to demeaning and rude language. Now I do understand how we all work. If there is a problem with gangs, drugs or graffiti, then we have to get on top of it and do our jobs. As we all know, there is plenty of scum making their way into and around 016.
Im just passing along to you that those kids, some who went to Canty & Dever are all good kids.
They are just hanging around, keeping out of trouble. They hang out there because they feel it’s a safe place to be left alone and it’s close to home. Even though all of them are home by curfew, I know they sometimes hang at the school after the school park closes. If that’s the case, then they should be politely asked to leave.

Hey any of you guys know about the Hell's Angel wannabe club called the Roadrunners? Well they just moved into 16. They are located at Berwyn and Harlem. Just behind the bridal shop on the Northside of the street. The front door says " Members only". Some of you might want to watch out for these guys. They are a Hell's Angel farm club and they are not what you want in your neighborhood. They are a polish club and known for the martial arts skills and if you look at their website you'll see they ride frequently with the HA. Many people have been seeing the HA in the neighborhood. Maybe some of you guys should let them know they are not wanted in the 16th district.

FYI anonymous, the cmdr of 003 reads everything. I've received a number of HMs since he got assigned here last October. If he kicked yours back, maybe it was a weak pinch, or something where you received a radio call and the bad guy was waiting to turn himself over to whoever got there first. Maybe that's how your sgt. wrote it up.
