I guess the mayor and his cronies are so used to getting their way they'll spin any story around in order to accomplish their goals.

It's obvious that there's lots and lots of money to be made from legalized gambling. I'm neither an advocate nor opponent of casino-based gambling but it's so obvious what's going on. On the very same day the state legislature passes a bill which would permit expansion of already existing riverboat casinos as well as a new land-based casino in Chicago, the mayor uses race as an excuse to force the Chicago Childrens Museum away from Navy Pier to Grant Park. North Shore liberals, the reverends, minorities and even Friends of the Parks are frozen in their tracks to oppose the relocation lest they be considered "racist."

This is just another way for the mayor to manipulate the press to allow access to potential gambling revenues. Once again, they're floating the idea of allowing land-based casino gambling in the city, this time not just to pay for education and the health care system, but to solve the supposed public transportation "crisis." Emil Jones, Daley and Blagojavich are all in lockstep, pushing for land-based casinos. But, where to put them?

When Daley kidnapped Meigs field, the plan at that time was to bring in a gambling boat and whet the appetites of the gambling public and see if all the "outfit" types could share the wealth and not have the collateral crimes spill into the neighborhoods. Navy Pier has always been a hands-off zone that will remain family oriented and a big kids attraction. So, under the cover of darkness, he illegally seized Meigs Field/Northerly Island (against FAA wishes) and turned it into an expensive vacant lot. They thought a floating casino would be perfect here. Once everyone was on board the "gambling might be good for the City" bandwagon, the push was be to move the casinos (yes, that's plural) and, I believe, onto Ogden Ave.

From Stroger Hospital to the city limits, there's remarkably NOTHING on Ogden. Accessible from the South, North and West sides of the City and a short cab ride from downtown and serviced by 3 major expressways, Ogden Ave could be the Chicago equivalent of the Vegas Strip or New York's Times Square with neon lights ablaze and wide enough (10 lanes wide in some stretches) for a quaint trolley car or monorail-type people mover. Overnight, all the West Side slums and blight would be washed away, not by segregation but by making property taxes out of reach to most but the affluent few. The tough part would be in keeping all the corrupt fingers out of the pie. Maybe they should just let the Outfit run it as Vegas never fails to make a profit every year and Vegas coppers HAVE TO be offered the 1st crack at working the part-time gigs. Only after the P.O.'s all turn the OT down can the casinos hire from the outside. This might be the financial shot in the arm the city needs and OF COURSE they'd have to increase both the size of the CPD as well as the SALARIES of the police.

Ever notice how there are fewer and fewer vacant lots in the west side? Makes you wonder if this isn't part of some grand plan. Oh, by the way, Bobbie Steel and some other of the oh-so-connected live right off Ogden. Hrumph, go figure.

Gotta read past the headlines sometimes.

Cook County taxpayers spend millions of dollars each year providing prescription drugs to thousands of people living outside the county, sometimes even paying extra to deliver the drugs to their out-of-county doorstep.
But under a plan approved Tuesday by the County Board, that support could end Dec. 1 unless a patient's home county enters into an agreement with Cook County to reimburse it for the costs.

The issue has been festering since early this year, when hospital chief Dr. Robert Simon stopped providing health services to residents from outside the county because they cost the cash-strapped health system millions.

Board President Todd Stroger lifted that ban, promising to revisit it, but to date little progress has been made.

-----------------------------------

So let me get this straight....

First off, taxpayers have been paying for drugs for NON-Cook County residents to the tune of millions of dollars a year.

Secondly, Toddler vetoes the HOSPITAL CHIEF's decision to save millions of dollars in order to keep minority votes.

No wonder Cook County Hospital is about to lose it's accreditation!

It's okay, they are about to raise Cook County sales tax by 3%.

Typical tax and spend democrats.

This county fucking disgusts me.

Apparently Obama isn't black enough for Jesse! He is "acting like he's white."

What's wrong old man, someone stealing your thunder??

Won't you just die already?

-----------------------------------

The Rev. Jesse Jackson called Tuesday on Democrats seeking the 2008 nomination for president to give S.C. voters “something to vote for” when they go to the polls in January.

On a statewide tour to register new voters, Jackson said South Carolina will determine “who has momentum” in the primary when it votes Jan. 29.

Jackson sharply criticized presidential hopeful and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for “acting like he’s white” in what Jackson said has been a tepid response to six black juveniles’ arrest on attempted-murder charges in Jena, La. Jackson, who also lives in Illinois, endorsed Obama in March, according to The Associated Press.

“If I were a candidate, I’d be all over Jena,” Jackson said after an hour-long speech at Columbia’s historically black Benedict College.

ABC7-
One Cook County commissioner wants to increase the county's portion of the sales tax, and if approved, the sales tax in Cook County would go up to 11 percent. That tax increase would also apply to restaurant and hotel bills.

Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy said the additional tax revenue would be used to avoid another crisis when it is time to come up with next year's budget.

-----------------------------------

And this is the reason I go out of Crook County to buy everything I can.

Keep raising taxes on everything from cigarettes to booze to food to gas, you'll keep driving revenue to the suburbs.

Jackasses.

Arrr Matey! One of our own is in trouble and needs our help. Flood the Animinal Care & Control with phone calls telling them how you feel about Louis Pelliegrini's 5 year old dog being put on "DEATH ROW" for a recent biting incident. The system in Chicago is broken and is in dire need of repair.

For starters, animal control is so understaffed it's not even funny. Their is literally 1-2 vans on the street for the entire city at any given time. Some but not all of the animal control officers are lazy, ignorant people that show little or no compassion for animals.

They take "forever" to respond to a complaint, thats if they ever show up at all. Even when we (the police) call something in while working, they are never able to give us an eta. The CPD has taken away all the animal cages at the districts stopping us (the police) from lending a hand and doing our part in rescueing stray, lost and/or injured animals.

You don't see animal control out there ever self initiating and enforcing dog license, rabies tag or leash laws. Only if they are called to a scene by the police or a citizen regarding a dog bite incident. Take a drive through the west side and south side and you will see hundreds and hundreds of violations that aren't enforced.

The good citizens out there buy their dog licenses and rabies vaccinations, use a dog leash, pick up the dogs droppings and don't use our pets/family members in dog fights. But we (the good citizens) get punished for doing the right thing. One isolated incident from a good dog and they threaten to kill him. This dog Cozmo isnt a mean attack dog, he's a family dog that loves people and children. He doesnt have a long history of attacks or bites. A 3 year old propably pulled too hard on an ear or stepped on a foot and the dog reacted. For this you want to kill him. That's bullshit. It's going to cost the Pellegrini's thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache to save beloved Cozmo.

The story is on Fox 32. It aired yesterday and again today.

Arrr Matey! Make Mayor Daley walk the plank cause he sucks..

Employees in a union environment can be terminated during their "probationary period" (before they join the union). That's standard practice, although the time period differs from employer to employer. By the way I appreciate the peek at inside the Police Department that your blog offers. You sound very angry. I can agree with most of your thoughts, but you seem to be a posterchild for what appears to citizens to be exactly what's wrong with the police. Anger instead of professionalism, more guns instead of less. You sound childish, because you didn't get promoted? People want to respect the Police, but cops like you make it hard. For every person you break your constitutional oath to defend, even if guilty, there are a hundred who will hate you for that crime. The laws were laid out by better men and greater minds than you, have some respect for that. Keep writing, I agree that you have that first amendment right. Remember that I have fifth amendment rights, and can demand a lawyer anytime, even during a ticket stop, so don't get upset. Happy to respond if you have the guts. "somethingswampthing@yahoo.com"

"What do you mean?" the pirate replies, "I'm fine."
The bartender says, "But what about that wooden leg? You didn't have that before."
"Well," says the pirate, "We were in a battle at sea and a cannon ball hit my leg but the surgeon fixed me up, and I'm fine, really."
"Yeah," says the bartender, "But what about that hook? Last time I saw you, you had both hands."
"Well," says the pirate, "We were in another battle and we boarded the enemy ship. I was in a sword fight and my hand was cut off but the surgeon fixed me up with this hook, and I feel great, really."
"Oh," says the bartender, "What about that eye patch? Last time you were in here you had both eyes."
"Well," says the pirate, "One day when we were at sea, some birds were flying over the ship. I looked up, and one of them shat in my eye."
"So?" replied the bartender, "what happened? You couldn't have lost an eye just from some bird shit!"
"Well," says the pirate, "I really wasn't used to the hook yet."

I might not be the brightess bulb on the planet but I do detect a trend!

Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Durbin, et al desire to eliminate the Bush tax cuts in order to help the common man?

Blagojevich and Jones are backing the biggest tax increase in the history of the State of Illinois in order to help the common man?

Madigan fails to extend the real estate cap because it would hurt large businesses downtown. How does this help the common man?

Stroger desires claims he can cut no more fat in Cook County government so he needs to raise taxes to help the common man?

Daley approves of raising the real estate taxes for schools and is considering raising taxes next year. How does this help the common man?

The two common items listed above are higher taxes and Democrats in office!

I'm willing to give fellow CPD officers an even better deal. If interested contact my realtors at Century 21 773-343-7119 and ask about the retired coppers house on Oriole Avenue. Watch Out for her. She is probably among one of the world's worst persons and sustains that reputation wherever she works. She was fairly open about the fact that in 015, where she was assigned before she bailed to work under the one exempt who puts up with her shit, the capable Cmndr. Wysinger berated her, terming her "the worst supervisor he had seen." She is a human neon sign that flashes caustically messages revealing every flaw in this department; clout over professionalism, ethnic and religious politics over merit, and the repeated use of sexual victimization allegations in the pursuit of job advancement. Beware and be warned officers and sergeants in 024 she pulverizes the morale of every watch cursed with her presence. As an added bonus, heard she doesn't even have a B.A. Rumor has it that her singular recognizable contribution to this job has been her allegedly robust oral skills, which she has employed since adolescence. Shalom!

Second casino will be probably be on land that was given to the city formerly the site of the old south works(?) City spent tons(hired trucks) cleaning it up using dredgeings from the Illinois River(remember seeing that on Chicago Works Propaganda show) That will probably get its own Police Force ala UIC Police.

Thats gonna be a payback for the south-side politicians who see all of the coaches filled heading out of town to gamble thier money away.

Officer Nick Erfle was shot after he and his partner approached three people for jaywalking and obstructing traffic on 24th Street, one block north of Thomas Road.

----------------------------------
Sure you can request a lawyer, then you automatically get that ticket smartass. Guess what law guy, you have no idea how many laws you break every hour. Too bad you think you know it all:)!! And bring you big bad lawyer too, I'm sure they'll fuck up too. Keep your bullshit in the suburbs where you belong bitch!!

What is with the 3rd watch lieutenant in 24. She comes to roll call after her days off and berates the watch for poor response to a man-with-a-gun call insinuating the tact team was left alone to handle the job. In reality, the watch found the offender’s discarded clothing, the gun and placed him in custody. Everyone knows she was not much of a patrolman and an inferior sergeant. If Seiser truly runs it, can he please teach her how to be a lieutenant?

You got to be kidding....The dog got loose from its own house and went and attacked a 3 year old on the sidewalk a coppers kid! The dog bit him and he need to have 20-some stiches in his head! And you feel sorry for the dog...they should of shot it on the spot! ANY dog that bites a 3 year old should be put down. The owners could save some money I sure the range has an extra 9mm round you could put in the back of the dogs head.

Say what you want about her, but Lt. A.S. was never a merit promotion...ever. Made Sgt. and Lt. on her test scores. When she was a PO in 018, she worked. She had a good partner, and as I recall, made some quality arrests.
She did not have it easy as a new Lt., and was messed over by "the boyz" in 019 until she left. Lots of crass statements over the air, etc, that the bosses never really dealt with very well. But she's not a bad person; give her your best, and she'll give you her best.
Don't know much about 024, never worked north, but if the guys and gals out that way are doing what they should be, there shouldn't be too much static from the Lt. My best guess is, like in most districts, more than a few need a bit of a fire lit under them.

. . . Say what you want about her, but Lt. A.S. was never a merit promotion...ever. Made Sgt. and Lt. on her test scores. . .

*******************

WRONG. She DID make lieutenant NOT meritorious but as part of a lawsuit settlement against the department. As a sergeant in 019 some goof made some stupid comments/sexual harassing remarks about her over the radio. A CR # was initiated to attempt to find out who the offending officer was. Since the department /IAD did not do a thorough job, she sued the 019 Watch Commander and the department. The settlement was the LTs position. (this was off the 1997 Lts exam BEFORE they had the 30% “Merit program”)

As for her ending up in 024; she put in a CR# against a 2nd watch lieutenant in 015. She was then given a choice to come to 024 to work for her “good friend” as she says, the Commander. (By the way, he really can’t stand her)

As for that, NO ONE CAN REALLY STAND HER. She has no people skills whatsoever. She comes across VERY arrogant and egotistical. (see article below) To say the least if she is around goofy coppers or fellow supervisors who say or do stupid things like the LT in 015 did.. SHE WILL SUE or the VERY LEAST get a CR# in an attempt to climb the ladder even further. In today’s ‘attorney power driven society’, she knows exactly how to play the system.

BE CAREFUL of her !!!!!!!!!

She doesn't think chivalry is dead and loves to hang out although not necessarily need to be wined and dined. She loves walks in the rain and she thinks it's romantic for a man to open the door for her. She's also looking for a date on match dot com.
