Free Hockey Finally?
Bill Wirtz, the man who did more to destroy NHL Hockey in Chicago than any other human being, died this morning after a battle with cancer. Wirtz was a popular target of fans and media for his frequently expressed desires to win another Stanley Cup, then spending no money to attract actual talent to do so, often allowing All-Star caliber players to leave.
We always figured Wirtz was making so much money at his hotels and liquor distributorships, that it mattered little to him whether the Blackhawks ever won a game. He even stuck with the media blackout for home games, long after other teams were attempting to cultivate a following through free local television contracts. The final result? A team in the shitter and a fan base than can't even generate 12,000 warm bodies per game.
Hopefully, Peter and Rocky Wirtz can pull this Original Six franchise out of the sewer into which it descended, spend a little money, generate a bit of buzz, look into broadcasting games locally, (even an NFL style "no sell out - no broadcast" wouldn't work until they start winning again) and restore a bit of pride in what used to be the best game in town.

An time someone dies, it is a sad ting for the family and friends, but in this case, it might be a good thing, not just for Haks fans, but for all the people, venders, security, andy fran who work there. He ran the team into the ground. The Hawks used to be huge in this town. There are probably alot of people who depended on working at the UC at Hawks games who needed the money who couldn't work because the Hawks weren't drawing. Of course Wirtz didn't care being one of the richest men in Illinois. My prayers are with the family, but I'm happy for the fans.

Guys be careful out there a convicted high ranking GD was stopped for traffic violations and had a police scanner and video and stated he was filming for Ald.Smith trying to catch police doing wrong, why doesnt Smith have them filming the dope spots. Strange how certain empty blocks that hve dope tips are cleaned bfore any other streets and kept clean during heavy snows in Ald. Smiths ward.

PENSION FUND UPDATE: 26 September 2007
Recently, the Chicago Sun-Times has run a series of articles concerning pension funds that cover City of Chicago employees. The City of Chicago Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund is one of the pension funds identified as awarding 15 million dollars to DV Urban Realty Partners.
At the April 25, 2006 Investment Committee Meeting of the City of Chicago Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund, the first order of business on the agenda was to consider committing 15 million dollars to DV Urban Realty Partners. After a presentation to the Board and discussion concerning this investment a motion was made and seconded to commit 15 million dollars of the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Funds monies to DV Urban Realty Partners. The Motion passed 7 to 1.
The one dissenting vote was cast by Board Trustee, Sgt. Michael Lazzaro. Trustee Lazzaro is the elected representative for sergeants on the Executive Board of the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund. Trustee Michael Lazzaro is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association. Trustee Michael Lazzaro based his decision in part to vote against this investment citing the fact that DV Urban Realty Partners did not have an established track record and history for this type of investment. Further, Sgt. Michael Lazzaro did not believe this type of real estate investment with DV Urban Realty Partners warranted the risk verses the projected return.

Off topic so please forgive me. I've heard a couple of stories recently and I was wondering if they were true and if somebody can verify. When I first heard them I dismissed them as B/S but then I began wondering if perhaps they are true. Anyway here they are.
1. A female Officer assigned to the Traffic Division is pulled off to the side of the road and appears to be distressed. The street deputy who just happens to be driving by,see's her and thinking that he can help her, pulls along side next to her, rolls down his window and says "Officer, are you OK?" She replies "I will be just as soon as you get off that damn cell phone". The street deputy thinking that perhaps she is under so much stress that she doesn't realize who he is, shows her the gold star and once again asks if she's Ok. She replies "Pull over and let me see your drivers license and insurance. Now keep in mind that he's in the company car. He replies "have a nice day" and drives off. She now pursues him and he,after realizing that she's behind him and wants HIM to pull over, does so. Once again she states to him that she wants to see his insurance and drivers license. Once again he asks if she's OK and shows her his star. She makes a few comments at which time the street deputy then drives off once again. She, now realizing that she might be dealing with a Police Officer, call's her husband at home. The husband who is a Lt. tells her to get a CR number on this Officer (street deputy) if he won't produce his d/l and insurance after she TVB's him. So she tries to pull him over again. Now, the street deputy is pissed and from what I hear, get's a CR number on her, for what I don't know. Maybe for being stupid, I would guess. She also gets a number on him, for what I don't know.
2. A certain district on the westside is guarding a prisoner at the hospital who had killed his father earlier in the day. Because the investigation was on going and the offender was in the hospital and under guard, an arrest report was not done. The w/c however a few hours later gets on the air and asks the car that is guarding him what he's doing to which the Officer replies "I'm sitting on the homicide offender". The w/c then says "probable cause has not been approved. You are released from your detail. Resume your normal duties". The officer asks the w/c to repeat what he just said and he did. So the Officer and his partner left. Now the hospital nurses realizing that they had a homicide offender on their floor understandably became upset and called 911 asking to see a supervisor. 016 responded and took care of the situation. Shortly therafter, the district in question re-instated the guard detail.
Can anybody verify any of this?

It appears he is now really fucked. He was arrested by the Feds and appeared in court today. This time for arranging a "murder-for-hire" scheme to have several officers who he thought were cooperating and were going to testify against him "rubbed out."
This was recorded by the G on the 21st and 23rd of September via "a wire.
He is to appear Monday before a U.S. Magistrate Judge again on Monday.

The Original Six National Hockey Teams are the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, Montreal Canadiens, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hockey was the most exciting game on the planet when there only the six teams. Montreal was awesome no matter who they played, and watching Hull, Mikita, goalie Glen Hall. etc......wow. Wirtz wasn't the only one who ruined the game....expansion did too.
