Pretty straightforward report - foot chase, guy swallows drugs (lots of drugs evidently), chokes and passes out, ambulance summoned, guy dies from stupidity.

"Allegedly?" What are the readers to imply from this headline? That the police rode around with some of those guns and dope they plant on everyone, picked a random person on the street, held him down and stuffed enough dope down his throat to kill him?

There's that word again - "allegedly." And then the Channel 7 article, which is about three times the size of any of the other reporting, heads into la-la-land:
- "They hit him with the car, they grabbed him and slammed him into the fence and a wall," said a witness who identified herself as Dee Dee.
- Witnesses claim the police were rough with the young man, and they say officers were in no hurry to get him help.
- "They waited 15 to 20 minutes to get the boy some help, and once they did, the boy was dead," said another witness who wished to remain anonymous.
- "This is abuse, this is negligence, this is just inconsideration for human life," said West Side resident Charles Banks.
Wow. That's some great reporting by Channel 7's Ben Bradley. Someone named Dee Dee, someone else named "anonymous," and Charles Banks.
We'd like to do some reporting, too. We went around Ben Bradley's place the other day, talked to some random strangers on the street, a few of the surrounding restaurants and such. Some waitress named Alice said Ben's a horrible tipper, 8% tops. John doesn't know Ben, but thinks that people on the block don't pick up after their dogs enough and if Ben owns a dog, he's probably one of the biggest offenders of all. Anonymous says that Ben is a dud in the sack.
See? Completely unbiased reporting by SCC and fully sourced, just like Channel 7 does.

I don't get it...where's the story? That's a daily occurance in 011. This poor soul just happened to package his dope a little too big for easy swallowability.
This could be a valuable public service announcement for the rest of the little ones out there that intend to pursue a life of dealing dope. Kids, package your rocks/blows/dubs/sacks of weed in smaller, easier to swaloow packs for better concealment, easier on the throat when time is a factor and an all around better marketability.
Remember kids, when it comes to safety think smaller is better. They can't lock you up for what they can't find. Eat that dope safely and with the full knowledge that your packaging is safe and bite size. Don't take unnecessary risks, pack that shit as though your life depends on it.

Did anyone catch the article in the newspaper today regarding the city teachers contract? 5 year contract with 4% raises each year and for the first 3 years there is no raise in health premiums. Wow pretty good contract for them. Does anyone see a problem with this? They get a 5 year contract, 4% raises each year, no increase in health care and they don’t have a residency rule. There salaries come from the same place as every other city employee…TAXES we all pay them but we all have to live in the city except teachers. There’s a problem here what’s good for one department should be good for all. Most city workers have their children in private school and have to pay extra each month for it because the city schools are crap. The city needs to be uniform with this policy…..anyone who gets a paycheck from the city either ALL have to live in the city or lift the residency rule for all departments. I really don’t want to hear if we want good teachers we have to allow them to live where they want…..that’s BS and we all know it. Someone needs to do something with our contract in a positive way either let us move out of city or make all city school teachers move into the city end of question.

Well, it's just about school time in 017.
And you know what that means;
The chain of evidence is about to be broken once more.
You see, in 017, we are the only district in the city, where the school cars make the arrest, yet they call for a beat car to pick up the honor roll student and process them while the school car stays at the school.
Can we do that?
Can we on view something, write the case, and then call a car to process that has no knowledge of the crime?!
Yes, 017 leads the city in school arrests in the city because they don't have to process the prisoners.

Assume all cars have GPS. I even assume my car has voice recording going on. I may be paranoid, but that way they won't get you for anything silly. If they ram it to me, they are going to have to work to get it in dammit! There's too much technology and they want to nail us so bad (especially with a contract coming up) they'll do whatever. The sad thing is, they are going to end up getting the workers, when they could at least use the gps to get rid of the dogs. Some posts were made a few weeks ago about the desk crews being young, well, in our district the desk crew is mostly still on probation and are there because there aren't enough p.o.'s to ride with. Forget a regular partner, What is that?

I didn't see where anyone mentioned color. Is he on the medical for 90 plus days? What for? Is he ambulatory? Losing a family member is not a reason to be on the medical. Most of us have done that.
If he has no medical condition and is on the medical, he is exactly why we are going to lose our medical time.

Did anyone catch the article in the newspaper today regarding the city teachers contract? 5 year contract with 4% raises each year and for the first 3 years there is no raise in health premiums. Wow pretty good contract for them. Does anyone see a problem with this? They get a 5 year contract, 4% raises each year, no increase in health care and they don’t have a residency rule
BULLSHIT! Get your facts straight. teachers must live in Chicago. Some were grandfathered in many years ago. They have an effective union but must live in Chicago. Teachers are no different than other city workers. Fighting for a chance to live outside the city.
Yes, 017 leads the city in school arrests in the city because they don't have to process the prisoners.

If that was the case and I worked in a school, I'd arrest everyone in sight.

Could it have something to do with that blonde captain on 2nd watch? Capt JD has carte blanche does what ever she wants without control. Super micro manager. Commander afraid to challenge her. She reminds me of the other female WC in 5th district on 2nd watch. Jd rules with a iron fist but nothing on top but a vacuum. What will happen when commander retires?

What needs to happen is; The media has to stop reporting that the dead gangbanger was an honor student,choir boy,and saint. Start being dead honest about the morons, were not dealing with nice people who happen to sell drugs on the side.We are dealing with people who have no concience at all and would blink at the thought of killing you media types if they thought they might get away with it.Seriously, do you think we are out to hurt anyone,as in ,on purpose.Not at all ,but we want to go home everynight too.Maybe it's not fair to say that to the media because it's not their job to catch criminals,it's our job but I don't want them telling me how to do my job just like I don't tell them how to report the news.The problem is that what I see on t.v. isn't reporting, it's sensationalism.You can't tell me that when an incident happens and someone dies because of direct or indirect police action that it's actual reporting when they stick a rockhead on camera who claims the police murdered the goof.I hate to say it because it's not my nature to be lazy but I see it as the only option these days, it's better to be retired on the job than to get involved in an incident esp. if you ain't got clout.Even Al Capone could claim he did good things for the people and would have plenty of supporters to say what a great guy he was, the truth is that he was a murderer.I feel for the coppers involved in this, it could have been me, I play on that block often because hunting is good.I think that the media purposely wants to make us look bad.
