What a shame this Trooper was taken from us so soon. He graduated from the ISP Academy back in February of this year and was class president. I'm sure he was released from the FTO program only a few months ago. He apparently was enroute to assist a local officer at a bar fight. My prayers go out to him and his family. Rest in peace Trooper.
And thank you CPD, for your show of support and kind words.
Retired ISP Sgt.

When will people put thier fucking cell phones down and pay attention when driving? You can see the lights from more than a mile away.. SLOW THE FUCK DOWN AND CHANGE LANES!!!

Even if you are drunk you'd crash into the wall and let the Trooper and other crash victims live.

God Bless Him and His Family.

Look at the newspapers:

Mother and two children ran over and killed.
Car going wrong way on Expressway kills 4 in firey crash.
Teens killed in suburban crash.

All heads lines in the last two days of newspapers.

My point, more police are killed or injured in car crashes than police work.

Wear the seat belt, keep your eyes open, lay off the PDT and CelL Phone while driving and be safe!

May everyone's footsteps be graced with health, happiness and love! That is my nightly prayer.

Thanks SCC and all of CPD for posting on this tragic loss to the ISP family.

I have been working in District Chicago, and the old District 4 for the past 17+ years, and can not express how it feels to know that whenever we need help, CPD is always first there to respond without hesitation, and in great numbers. I have been saved from some pretty rough situation from my brothers in the CPD.

Be safe and thanks for being there for us.

ISP Trooper, D-Chicago

The Policeman’s Poem

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.

“Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other check?
To my church have you been true?”

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,
Because most of us who carry badges
Can’t always be a saint.”

“I’ve had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was rough,
And sometimes I’ve been violent
Because the streets are mighty tough.”

“But I never took a penny
That wasn’t mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.”

“And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears.”

“I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.”

“If you have a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”

There was silence around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the policeman waited quietly
For the judgment of his God.

“Step forward now, policeman.
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven’s streets -
You’ve done your time in hell.”

I know we are all stretched to the limit while working the street but let's all make an effort to stop one shitty driver a day and blast their ass with a stack of tickets and maybe just for fun take away the ride. This is the only way we can put a stop to the terrible and dangerous drivers we have out there all over the city. The loss of young innocent children and their mother should be enough incentive for most of us to make some traffic stops.

It never fails for me that I drive around all night and do not see anyone driving bad enough to stop. Then on the way home see at least a dozen traffic stops with some real clowns behind the wheel. I say we stop all the bull shit seatbelt enforcements and start doing some real traffic saftey stops out there.
