- Medical records and letters obtained from Savio's relatives outline a pattern of alleged abuse and frustration with a lack of action by Bolingbrook police.
Bolingbrook police officials issued a statement this week in which they confirmed 18 domestic calls to the home, but said they always investigated fully. They also noted that they turned the Savio investigation over to the state police, as they have the Stacy Peterson disappearance.
Eighteen domestic calls at a police officers home? A police officer who's third wife died under mysterious circumstances? A death which the coroner is now re-opening?
It'll be interesting to see if heads roll in the suburbs as they'd be expected to roll here.

Long time lurker first time poster. I just might happen to work at the PD in question.... OK, if anyone should know how ruthless media can be, it should be CPD, so no, NOT all is as it appears on the News. BTW, out of the 18 'reports', 9 were for Visitation issues. You know the garbage of "he brought the kids home 15 mins late" kinda stuff. Also, the old Chief sent a memo that if any BPD Officer in town had any kind of incident off-duty, no matter how minor, paper would be cut. So these "domestic" calls was usually paper getting cut to document a verbal argument, when if we went to anyone else's house, we would simply dispo it as "peace restored", no paper and go back in service. But, so in brief, DP is NOT a representation of this Dept. anymore than the handful of media Bad Apples are for you guys. The PD does not want this black eye, nor do the men. As you guys know, the stress brought on by the media can weigh heavy. And like some days how you guys go to work and you know people are giving you the "look" because of the blue stripe on the side of your car, we know the same thing is going to happen to us. Just know the right thing will be done here, us good "brothers" have to stick together against the bad one's of us. Be safe all.

Please correct me if I am wrong. The man met the fourth wife when she was sixteen almost seventeen working as a motel clerk. he was still married to wife number 3,
and it was common knowledge of domestic abuse allegations. WTF kind of Morons work for that department? He could have been charged with criminal sexual abuse or delinquency of a minor. There claiming he was dating her and it was common knowledge to the rest of the PD. She was a ward of the state, thank you DCFS.
I mean Ive seen some f/uped things on this job but I never saw anything ever tolerated with a minor/child. I know there was a Lt who did something over state lines still on the job as a Captain, but this Drew Peterson is like fictional LAPD character out of a Joe Wambaugh book and no insult to Wambaughs characters who are ussually divorced twice or three times and alcoholic but never run with children.
Welcome to our world son. Now just imagine if you were forced to live in the same town that is giving you the "look" as you say.

You think that Lil' Ritchie is a crook - you should see the stuff the Bolingbrook mayor, Ol' Roger has done, and continues to due. If you think Dick Daley steals and only gives to his own, look into Roger. A first rate, heavy connected (Jim Edgar) thief.
He will get rid of Drew Peterson make no mistake about that, because Drew P. brought all this attention and negative press to Bolingbrook.
What this really does is cut down on Roger's chances to do more theivery - not good to do, when the heat is on. So the shady deals, the money under the table, the kick backs and the pay uts are all put on hold.
Just like all of the greedy (think George Ryan)crooks before him, who can not live on all that money they stole, Roger wants even more. His greed will catch up to him but not before Drew goes down.

As usual though the media has ALL OF US guilty before proven innocent.I have a friend that keeps wanting me to go out drinking like we used to 10-15 years ago and she doesnt understand that if i get into anything, im screwed, and she ALWAYS wants to go to biker bars. Im cool with the biker bars,hell it would be where i would want to go half the time anyway,but somebodys gonna get stupid and start something, and its usualy the wanna bes. Peterson has a checkered past; that includes, being fired by the force when fellow officers fingered him, for passing info to drug dealers in return for drugs. As the states attorney could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, he was reinstated.
Bolingbrook should be annexed to Chicago. It could be our 51st ward. Drew Peterson could be elected alderman (he certainly has the background).
Their police department could be our 26th district. I don't know what we would do with all the modern equipment, though. None of us would know how to use it.

I would like to say thank you to the visiting officer. I think anybody who jumps on the Bolingbrook PD are scum bandwagon should be ashamed of themselves. Bolingbrook isn't Oak Brook. They have plenty of shitheads in their town. How often do those of us who work on the Westside stop a car that comes back to Bolingbrook? I stop at least 1 car a week.
Those of us who are the Police on this Blog should know better. If this was CPD being investigated we would know that certain facts are being left out. Think of the CR# fiasco going on right now. If we jump on the get the Bolingbrook PD, then we should jump on ourselves. Police officers need to stick together. In the near future it may come to the point where somebody will have to be arrested or ticketed on any domestic call. Jumping to conclusions without all the facts is what will lead to it.
I'm pretty sure this Sgt is a scumbag but lets not paintbrush the whole dept because of 1 guy. I wish all the Bolingbrook PD GL!!! I think your going to need it. The microscope sucks!!!

I don't think my entire block has had 9 domestic calls in the past ten years.
Having said that, that is not proof that he disposed of his wife.
Let the fact finding process determine if he is involved.
As most of us have observed, there seems to be a lack of emotion and concern of many family related murders.
I for one would have a dfficult time speaking to the public (media) after a devastating event such as a loss of a child/spouse or missing child/spouse.
We can see true emotion in victims families, such as Ron Goldmans father (OJ) and lack of emotion, such as Scott Peterson (Lacey).
I do have my opnion, like everyone else. That doesn't matter in the justice system. Good detective work will payoff.
It may take some time - remember Diane Masters? But hopefully justice will be served.
Every PD, just like many journalists, has it's skeletons. It should not be a reflection on the entire police force. The same should be said for the media. There are plenty of scumbag journalists who distort the facts to confuse the general public into thinking a certain way.
Filter the info. Much of what is portrayed in the media is not exactly true.

I do agree with this poster to a point. Suburban police dept's document almost EVERYTHING. Their so called Incident numbers are sometimes loosely called a report. It does not mean there was paper done on them though. On another note, I do feel that sometimes women are not taken seriously on some of these domestic calls especially in the suburbs where there are few female officers per department.

Speaking of we've "cut deals", I remember when you got caught living outside of the city and decided to run to IAD and make up lies about our Tact and Gang guys to keep from being fired. If fact I have read copies of the statements you made to IAD. Heard you went to the Bolingbrook P.D. Can't believe you haven't been indicted for "cut deals" you did while working CPD. That is fine BPD Officer, I agree with your point 100%. The only problem I have is how did they rule the death of his third wife a drowning? Are they trying to keep the crime stats down from homicides to suicides or just covering up for a clout connected boss in the dept.?
Long time lurker....you sound like a very level-headed officer and your post is spot on. I happen to personally know many Bolingbrook officers - young department with a solid reputation from what I understand.
Now is the time for ALL the boys in blue to stick together. As a police wife I understand all too well about the bullshit in the media being nowhere near reality. The last thing we need is for any of us in the larger "police family" turning on each other and pointing fingers!
I pray Stacy is found very soon. I cringe every time I hear her name mentioned.....I can only imagine how hard this is for the Bolingbrook PD and the GOOD citizens of the town.

Ole boy did what? None of us except for one person knows what occurred.
Let's say she did take off, found out about all of the attention she generated and is "scared" to come back because "I might be in trouble". (Similar to "why did you run, I was scared because I did not have a license")
As for being an outsider, you don't know what type of marriage they had and might have deserved it.

Well guys, thank you for the support so far. I lived the majority of my life in Chicago, had family on CPD etc. I came onto SCC awhile ago to learn the truth when I knew the media wasn't portraying stories right. I've dealt with CPD alot both in my old PD and a few times in BPD. Helped one of your Tac Units that came out here abit ago looking for a murder suspect, I even steered them to a "safe" place to eat after. The thing that is unique about BPD is we have ALOT of coppers that came from other PD's like myself. We also have a couple of former CPD. And out of 122 Officers, about 70 of them have less then 10 years at BPD, BUT because most guys were coppers elsewhere for years it's not like we aren't experienced. Also, that means most guys don't even know DP from "back in the day" and keep their distance from him anyway. Most pull the pin at 20 and out cause we have a grat pension, that's the reason for the high turn over. So, to clarify a few things that some might have missed in the media storm and a few tidbits:
Wife #3, her Death Investigation was taken over by ISP in under 2 hours at the direction of BPD. So nothing can be alleged on our end. After #3 went bye bye, what few friends DP had became even more scarce. No one trusted him, no one buddied with him, etc. This was not an "ole boys club" kinda thing with him, he was made a loaner. When he was booted 20 years ago, it was the COURTS that reinstated him, not our PD.
Our Mayor HATES us to begin with. The PD has to fight for everything budget related. Hey, sounds like Richie.... Overall it is a great PD. We are a "little" Chicago of 75,000. We keep getting the huge relocated Chicago projects population influx. Trust me, we are not a "hands off" PD. NO, we are NOT as fast as most Chicago Districts, but I am sure we are "faster" than some. We get decent dope, gun, Banger activity. We are good for a shooting of some sort every week or so.
So to close this out. Thanks ago Brothers for support. I have always had your guy's backs, both with you guys on and off duty. If you guys need a favor in the SW 'Burbs trust me, we will help you in anyway we can. The GOOD Blue Line is VERY strong out here, you are golden. So like you guys know, it sucks when you have to work with a guy you know might not be trustworthy but nothin' the lowly Patrolman can do but keep their distance and not get sucked into anything, and I'm sure you guy's have to work under Commanders or higher that you feel this about. So let's just look at DP as a MAN not as BPD. Much like some of the scum you guys had to work with that brought shame, we all want our "5 minutes" alone" with him if you know what I mean....Be Safe.

Look around at all the crap happening in the Chicago Police Department. Home invasions, theft, kidnapping, death threats, etc., committed by officers, some that at one time were outstanding coppers. And the book is not closed on their supervisors and gold stars. Those who have done wrong will eventually receive their just punishment. There are dozens of lawsuits that have been filed and many more to come. My problem is the fact that many innocent hard working officers are being tarnished due to the lack of ACCOUNTABILITY within the ranks. As a CPD detective who specialty is domestics, I see an above average amount of police related incidents. Unfortunately, po’s also get locked up for beating their other half. You would think they would know better… it’s not like it was years ago when it would be swept under the rug! Many officers ridicule supervisors because they obtain CR #’s even if an arrest is not made. What is the CPD code-word??? ACCOUNTABILITY… I’m certainly not going to lose my job because some officer was not smart enough (and too drunk) to walk away. ACCOUNTABILITY… Maybe there should have been more of it in Bollingbrook (and SOS)!

Let's try not to bash Stacy on here....ok? Not her fault her family dynamic was fucked up, not her fault that as a young and impressionable 17 yr old she fell into the sights of this POS....I did some really stupid shit when I was a teenager and my family was pretty messed up too.....I thank God that I never ran across someone as predatory as DP. Very shady past and yes, for most women hopefully they would see through the bullshit....but she was a young girl and from all accounts the PD followed the proper protocol by contacting Will County to see if the relationship was legal. As we all know, can't fire a copper just cuz he is a fucking cheating asshole...As an impressionable young girl, my heart breaks for her that she met this guy. Regardless of whether or not he killed ANYONE....he sounds like a real DOUCHE. And yes, I am sure it is possible that she was blinded by the uniform.....

Concerning police domestics…
Look around at all the crap happening in the Chicago Police Department. Home invasions, theft, kidnapping, death threats, etc., committed by officers, some that at one time were outstanding coppers. And the book is not closed on their supervisors and gold stars. Those who have done wrong will eventually receive their just punishment. There are dozens of lawsuits that have been filed and many more to come. My problem is the fact that many innocent hard working officers are being tarnished due to the lack of ACCOUNTABILITY within the ranks. As a CPD detective who specialty is domestics, I see an above average amount of police related incidents. Unfortunately, po’s also get locked up for beating their other half. You would think they would know better… it’s not like it was years ago when it would be swept under the rug! Many officers ridicule supervisors because they obtain CR #’s even if an arrest is not made. What is the CPD code-word??? ACCOUNTABILITY… I’m certainly not going to lose my job because some officer was not smart enough (and too drunk) to walk away. ACCOUNTABILITY… Maybe there should have been more of it in Bollingbrook (and SOS)

Word is this is now a Homicide Investigation and no longer a missing person case. DP has officially been named as a suspect.
Also, they are digging up wife #3.
I also heard today that there are hospital visits documented when DP tuned up #3 during the time of the 18 reports. Not to good.

It sucks, but no laterals, but here is the pay scale, from the latest contract (figures rounded). I'll do the salary and project it as if you started this year and show the "steps" to 2012, we top out after 5 years.
Year 1: $52,400, you get a fast bump in year 2.
Year 2: $66,500 for 05/2008
Years 3 and 4 is basically a 4% raise each year from year 2 salary.
Year 5 is your next big bump.
Year 5: $87,000 (projected for 05/2012) The current top out for 2007 is $75,000, this May it will be $78,000.
Then there is specialization pay, etc. So the average 5 year patrolman with court, holidays, etc. is making $85+ year. Yes, there is some decent OT, PLUS NO residency.
Come on over, minus the names already mentioned, it's a great place to work.

Long time lurker....you sound like a very level-headed officer and your post is spot on. I happen to personally know many Bolingbrook officers - young department with a solid reputation from what I understand.
Now is the time for ALL the boys in blue to stick together. As a police wife I understand all too well about the bullshit in the media being nowhere near reality. The last thing we need is for any of us in the larger "police family" turning on each other and pointing fingers!
I pray Stacy is found very soon. I cringe every time I hear her name mentioned.....I can only imagine how hard this is for the Bolingbrook PD and the GOOD citizens of the town.
