Pattern of Corruption

A few stories:
  • From the Tribune: A 13-year Chicago city employee has been charged with official misconduct and theft of government funds for allegedly pocketing $450 through a scam involving city vehicle stickers, Inspector General David Hoffman announced Thursday.

On 10 occasions in June 2006, Kukuruza allegedly accepted payments from motorists for their annual $75 regular city stickers but instead issued them discounted senior-citizen stickers that cost $30. He then pocketed the $45 difference.

Four hundred and fifty bucks. It's the little stuff that adds up.
  • When he applied for a part-time job as a truck driver for the city of Chicago, Jerome Felske admitted he had a criminal past.

He acknowledged having six criminal convictions -- one burglary and five thefts.

    He got the job anyway.

  • City lawyers don't plan to appeal the decision reached by the three members of the Daley-appointed board -- attorney Enrico Mirabelli, the Rev. Lucius Hall and Don Turner, a former Chicago Federation of Labor president.

"Every case is decided on the merits and the facts,'' says Mirabelli. "There is no special treatment.''

He actually had 22 convictions. Did clout get the requirements waived? And did clout get him his job back from a three member board appointed by the mayor? Gee, you think? We've had rumors posted here on numerous occasions outlining how a DUI conviction is no bar to being hired as CPD, only to see that one blow up into a videotaped bar beating.

And the ghost payrolling?
  • A prominent Chicago developer was one of former Ald. Arenda Troutman's alleged extortion targets, one of her co-defendants says in a new court filing.
  • [Vincent]

Gilbert -- facing prosecution with Troutman -- insists in his court filing that he was qualified for the $5,000 contract he signed with ANSCO in 2005 to do public relations and other work on the project. The indictment accused Troutman of forcing the developer to hire Gilbert even though he had "little, if any, real estate experience."

Later, Troutman allegedly tried to get the developer to make her brother a partner in the unidentified project, telling him: "And then, I'm paid through him, see?"

Yup, we see all right.

We pay as taxpayers huge salries and rent for that pos place! If the new clerk ahd any balls he would simply close it down! But laski estabished it and no one would dare close it!

WHAT'S THE BIG SURPRISE? WHEN YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE RUNNING CITY GOVERNMENT WOULDN'T IT STAND TO REASON THEY WOULD HAVE CRIMINALS IN THEIR EMPLOY?
THIS INSIDUOUS ORDER OF BUSINESS IS THE REASON YOU HAVE A CORRUPT, IMMORAL ORGANIZATION & THE TAXPAYERS HAVE TO SUFFER FOR THEIR MALFEASANCE

Daley thought Hoffman would never get decent investigators working for him for the smaill slaries the budget passed - well think again. Most of the good ones are former FEDs, and out of towners who just don't care about who's who in the Corrupted, Clouted Cit of Chicago. I doubted him, but now I think he's really the real deal. Too bad he won't be around for another term.

When OBama endorsed Stroger he said he would be watching what happens and would would be vocal critic if things didn't get cleaned up. Another hypocrate.

As long as the serfs keep returning these assholes to office this will continue. And thoroughly cowed serfs they are.

True story. About seven years ago, I worked for a company looking to do some minor real estate development in the city. We needed about an acre of ground. Found a likely site and knocked on the doors of the three homeowners we needed to speak with about selling us their property. Everything open and above-board. Don't want to sell? No problem, we'll keep looking. Within 24 hours of those meetings, I get a call from the Alderman's office. Seems the thoroughly programmed burgher's first call after our meeting was to the Alderman to ask, "...if it was OK for them to be talking to us about selling their houses..." Now when you've got that kind of control over your constituents you can pretty well do any damned thing you please. Witness that barrel of lard disguised as a budget that was rubber-stamped earlier this week.

I went there to buy city stickers and parking permits for the wife's and my vehicle this past summer. Along with that, I was going to pick up some daily parking passes. These passes are the paper type you throw in the windshield for when friends come over or whatnot, good for one day. The city allows you to buy two books at a time of the daily parking passes. The form to get them comes in the envelope the city sends you to buy your city sticker. The line is a mile long outside the city sticker place on Cicero Ave. My turn comes, I have the misfortune of being taken care of by this Kukuruza. I tell him I want four books of daily parking permits since I can get two for me and two for the wife since I was buying stickers and yearly parking permits for both cars. Kukurocha told me I couldnt get four books, I could only get two cause my wife wasn't there. I asked him, "You allowed me to buy the city sticker and yearly permit for my wife's vehicle and she isn't here, why can't I purchase daily passes for my wife too?" In a smarmy tone he tells me, "thats the way it is." I wanted to reach across the table and wring his neck. Karma is a bitch.

Did anyone really expect for city corruption to stop after all the investigations that have been going on. Daley, the biggest crook, won't allow it to stop, or else he can't get always re-elected. The only heads that will leave in the next 5 years are Hoffman and Rosenzweig (SP). Probably the only two legit people in the Daley tent. Just like Hoover, Daley has something on everyone which explains him being the Teflon mayor.
