- Barry Bonds, baseball's home run king, was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice Thursday and could face prison instead of the Hall of Fame for telling a federal grand jury he did not knowingly use performance-enhancing drugs.
- One of Barry Bonds' lawyers is accusing federal prosecutors of not playing fair when it comes to the slugger's indictment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges.Defense attorney Mike Rains said he spoke briefly with Bonds but did not describe his reaction. At Thursday night news conference, he read a statement accusing federal prosecutors of "unethical misconduct" and declined to take questions."Every American should worry about a Justice Department that doesn't know if waterboarding is torture and can't tell the difference between prosecution on the one hand and persecution on the other," Rains said.
Nothing like comparing lying under oath to waterboarding suspected terrorists. For the record, the US Congress has the authority to pass a law deeming waterboarding "torture," not the Justice Department. To date, Congress hasn't done that, because (surprise!) waterboarding works and has been instrumental in getting information out of certain captured terrorists at Gitmo. But a sports lawyer is going to bring out the non sequitur as fast as possible.
Hopefully, the Hall of Fame takes down their monument to the atrocity that was Bonds' "achievement." We'd rather see Shoeless Joe in there before the door even opened a crack to the 'roid monsters of the 1990's.

In the seventies and early eighties, I played semi-pro baseball. I used to watch it on TV. Too much "enhancement" out there and it ruined baseball. The worst thing pro baseball did was allow Bonds to stay in baseball and break the record. What a bunch of bullshit.
See, sports were always rigged. Its all like wrestling! But hey, whats wrong with "roids" its a competition. All is fair in the game!

The indictment of Barry Bonds is ridiculous. I guess the feds have cleaned up all public corruption,terrorist investigations,and everything else that threatens this nation. If the feds want to clean up sports start with Donaghy and the mobsters he was indebted to. Steroids were not illegal in baseball remember. The sports industry in this nation is so hypocritical its asinine. Example, performance enhancing drugs: player gets cortisone shot so that he can play in today's game. I think that's a performance enhancing drug. After all without the shot he would not have been able to play. But, that's o k. If the feds got that much time on their hands how about going after the celebrities who have multiple "prescriptions" and the "doctors" that prescribed them.Finally, lets see how some of you feel when the names contained in the Mitchell report is released.
I'd bet BB's godfather, the great Willie Mays, is very proud of him now.

The feds caught Bonds in a classic perjury trap, the feds' favorite way of getting someone they don't like. Can't get em on a crime? Interview him, or haul him before a grand jury,and maybe he'll lie.
Bonds sure looks like a slimeball to me, but this indictment stinks.
Martha Stewart and Scooter Libby got caught in fed perjury traps. Just to show I'm bi-partisan, I think those cases sucked too.
Bush pardoned Libby. If you agree with that (and I do) then you can't be happy about this.

Don't pat yourself on the back yet. When aaalll of them admit to using steroids and HGH, then I will be impressed. Let's not forget, that A L MVP Giambi "won" came at the expense of Mike Greenwell who is white. That cost him incentives in his contract. So, ask him if it makes him feel any better that a white baseball player admitted using steroids or HGH. Wake-up!!!!!!!!!
