A Sneed Source Revealed?
Sneed is one of those reporters who seems to have tentacles in every pot out there. She's been carrying all sorts of anti-Starks stuff for some of Cline's old buddies, she's a regular sounding board for all sorts of City Hall leaks that eventually seem to become policy or law.
A sharp eyed reader pointed out that on 15 November, she offered condolences as follows:

We can't recall Sneed ever offering condolences to any patrol officer for the loss of a parent. When you read the Daily Bulletin, there are anywhere from 2 to 4 funerals a day for parents and siblings of officers, but they never get mentioned in Sneed.

Lets be fair to say that it's possible that she knows him or his father. Big Deal! And if I recall, he's pretty damn good friends with Dana S. who he worked for in 011. Anyway, truth is, there are some policeman who are related to people in the media etc and thos who have probably dated someone along those lines. Whatever!
One thing's for sure, if it's the Shawn I know, he's the only one person who was part of FOP who stuck his neck out and called them out on a bunch of crooked shit, then got thrown out on his ass and sued for doing so.
Did it ever occurr to anyone that maybe its a piddley little policeman or woman, or an exempt member who may or may not have ties to cline? Really, cause there is a lot of people who can't stand Dana, and have no confidence in his abilities to make a decision let alone run any one unit.

I was told a long time ago that Sneed (married name) has a family member on this job. The source was golden in my book. God rest his soul!

Aside from the highly-sought former NYPD bosses, Bill Bratton (LAPD) and John Timoney (Miami), what does Sneed have to say about Baltimore and Philly's fight to land CPD alumni Charles Ramsey?
Why didn't Ramsey even apply for Chicago's top cop "booby prize"? No sane, self-respecting police "executive", insider or outsider, would even consider attempting to manage Daley's clusterfuck of clout.
Count on it. Whoever Daley ultimately chooses from a narrow field of ne'er-do-wells will be a real doosie. Watch for the predictable and meaningless media hype ("a graduate of the FBI Academy", "integrity", "merit", yada, yada, yada)

Sean and his buddy Harje made wild accusations based on faulty accounting. When they were in there quest for power and went to roll calls, I personally asked them what they were going to do to reform the union. All I got was gibberish about themoney.
I asked again. More gibberish. I asked a third time. They said that they were only concerned about the money andthey would do nothing to reform the FOP and turn it into a real union.
As to Sneed, so she may know him or his dad. Big deal. She has posted on patrol people before and probably will again. She has attended retirement parties and benefits for people in trouble or fund raisers for cops with sick family members, so she has met many of us.

Shawn is a good PO who works in 14. Whenever I had a question about the FOP, contract or disciplinary wording in our contract, he knew more than the guys at FOP. It's a shame that we didn't here he had lost his father from anyone in the district. The negative postings on here are probably from FLOP. Sorry to hear about your lost Shawn. 2nd Watch 014th.

Just read the entire lawsuit. FOP did the right thing kicking them out. I wonder if these are the two guys who now come on this blog and try to anonymously blame the FOP for everything. Is there any limit to the self-serving back stabbing from these two "brothers"? I find it MOST interesting that this guy thought it appropriate to run to the media to complain about internal matters. This is an example of how our department has been destroyed.

I agree that Shawn is dirty and smelly. He looks neat and proper from a distance...but up close...what a slob. His one redeeming quality is that he can drink booze like very few humans can. All joking aside, his father died and we should not be busting on him until he's had time to mourn.
Sneed used to be good, now she's lost it. Bragging about the success in Detroit of a female chief was a joke and didn't the papers report that Detroit is the MOST dangerous city for crime in the country.

Ah, Halinan and Wayne Harej on the same lawsuit. I remember Wayne was absolutley against Detectives getting D2A pay ... "because detectives rarely get shot at..." or something to that effect. Only Sgt. that I can think of is the one that got caught up in The greylord Investigation, he was a court Sgt. at Western/Belmont. He was always more then a nice guy to the P.O.'s that came into his court.
I used to work for NBC. Almost everyday, coppers were calling the station trying to get someone in trouble. We didn't care about the trivial stuff but they kept calling.
It wasn't just the police, it was the fire dept. and other city agencies too.

I can shed a little light on the suicide of the Sgt. It happened approx 10yrs ago. I'm not going to mention him by name because he has a brother on the job and I see no reason to add further pain to a family tragedy. He was a P.O. in 010 then 018 before making SGT where I believe he went to 012 before going to school patrol. He was a good working P.O. who made good arrests and backed up everyone on their jobs. I can't tell you what kind of SGT he was because I only knew him as a P.O.
I recall reading a Sneed column about a SGT getting a dui in Indiana but I didn't know it was him until after he killed himself. I don't remember if he was mentioned by name(pretty sure she didn't) but I thought it was pretty pimpy. I have no idea if that was the tipping point that made made him take his life.What causes a person to take their life is never just 1 thing but a culmination of many things that sometimes happen over an entire lifetime. But why Sneed choose to mention an obscure dui in another state in which no one was killed or injured and the driver is no celebrity is beyond me. I'm not defending the dui, but he's not the first SGT that this has happened to. Maybe it was just a slow newsday.

I have not looked at the blog. in almost two weeks since my father's passing. I would like to thank you from my family of those of you who expressed your sympathies about my father's passing. Also, a special thank you to the numerous CPD personnel who appeared at my father's wake and funeral. Thanks for your class.

Have you not figured it out yet? There are many who know, but thankfully have enough respect for the deceased and his family not to post it. I knew him from 018 and ran into him after he made Sergeant and he was always O.K. with me. As far as wanting to help his family on the job, don't know him personally, but know who he is and I would venture to say he doesn't need your help. As far as Sneed goes, I always have believed and seen it proven to be true many times, "What goes around, comes around."
