Some of the comments have been saying that the Department made the front page of the Sunday Sun Times again. Unfortunately, we don't have access to an early paper and we can't seem to find it online yet. Something about police shooting people? What are we getting slimed for this time?
And speaking of sliming, batten down the hatches - rumors are starting up again here and at work about SOS indictments coming around the holidays. Typical fed pressure tactic. Seems to bear fruit quite a bit.
And other rumors of additional aldercreature indictments are making the rounds. We can only hope.

I saw the paper at Walgreens & it made me upset. Think it was about a person named antoine thomas (?) and showed a picture of his body @ the bottom of stairs. the times has stopped reporting news and has become a cop hater paper. needless to say, i will no longer buy it, and instead bought the trib to read.

As I have slapped a boycott on the SCUM-TIMES and will not purchase it. I did see the front page at a suburban gas station. It asked the question how much does it cost for the police to shoot somebody. $27 million.
Being that the we only shoot people who are the nothing short of the finest of citizens destined to be lawyers, doctors and alderman.
Why does it cost so much? cause the city settles with everyone who brings suit against it. What about standing up and fighting the case.

The article quotes Thomas Smith; a retired FBI agent, former Chief Investigator for OPS and close friend of Hillard.
Smith claims that the Detective Division and the ADS' did not always follow his directions after shootings and this led to cover-ups.
He does not explain the shooting that he was involved in when he was a range instructor for the FBI at Great Lakes. He shot another agent with a firearm that he claimed was loaded with dummy rounds.
He no more should of been investigating us than the man-in-the-moon!
The FBI prevents local law enforcement from interviewing their employees for 24 hours when they are involved in a shooting incident. Is this so they can get their stories straight?
See what a great guy the former FBI former CHief OPS investigator is. Hillard and he worked on some BS FBI task force. The guy is a former FBI firearms instructor and expert according to the Scumtimes, who happened to shoot himself in the hand.

I am honestly getting tired of nonsense like this crap written above. A wise man once broke it down for us 20% of this department is made up of hard charging, hard working, non stop police officers .
60% of this department is made up of working police officers who do what they're supposed to do, answer calls, write the tickets, make the arrests, and so on and all with a smile. First, what is he talking about 29 cases, a little less than 1 million on average, the city settles these cases because of legal fees, and the expense of going to trial, it has NOTHING to do with the merits of the case on either side. Also, WHY SHOUD THE COP PAY FOR THE CITY'S DECISION?

On March 7, 1969, 5th Dist. Off. Terry KNOX was shot outside Hirsch High School, 7746 S. Drexel Ave. his wounds leaving him paralyzed.
The shooter was one Joseph PANNELL, a member of the Black Panther Party. He fled to Canada shortly thereafter.
In 2004, PANNELL was located living quietly in Canada as a librarian under an assumed name. He was arrested in Mississauga, a Toronto suburb, by the RCMP.
Now, after more than 38 years on the lam, the Ontario Court of Appeals has ordered PANNELL's extradition to the United States. PANNELL, now age 58, faces charges for the attempted murder of Terry KNOX.
Hopefully, this will bring closure for Terry who has endured paralysis all these years because of this filthy muthafucker.

I was at a family party today and a young guy (20-21yrs...nice kid,taking law eforcment classes) Asked me if i was still a policeman (i have 13 yrs on) his question took me by surprize & i said "of course i am" next thing he said was "that's all i ever wanted to be, but no more!" Good people NOT wanting to be the police...how sad!!!! Lot's of others joined in the conversation and sick with the scum times & their B.S. Stay Safe!!!

I'm also kind of tired of every time someone expresses their disappointment for the results of this job they're labeled a "dog". Yes, the city does settle most lawsuits and I agree a lot of those settlements are to make the plaintiff go away. But those are usually the settlements under $50,000... most of these shootings involved settlements on average of $1 million plus.
Good question about the kid not suing the driver -- probably because the driver does not have deep pockets like the city.
I can't put myself in the shoes of the officers. Don't think I would ever know what it's like to be out there. That said, in the Bell shooting, don't really understand firing at a car that is 180 feet past you with a bunch of people hanging on. Adrenaline? Rage? What might have been a defensible shooting turned into a bad one — at least from the city's perspective, which paid out a total of $4.1 million in that one.

It is all about the money. Plus, they now use something called fault- who was more or less at fault to cause the death. In one of the suits that went to jury, they found that the city was partially at fault and the more was partially at fault. We still paid.
The Deptartment of Law will not keep other lawyers from making a living. They love giving big bones to their legal bretheren.
We need legal reform and protection. Time to write your state reps and state sens. Get a bill passed to protect cities and departments from these suits.
