- A Mexican migrant-rights advocate deported from the U.S. said she began a hunger strike Friday to push her government to demand its citizens receive better treatment north of the border
- Elvira Arellano, a former illegal migrant who took sanctuary at Chicago's Adalberto United Methodist Church for about a year in defiance of a deportation order, said she would starve herself "because I want our government to listen, to act, to defend our migrant families."
- "Is Mexico prepared to receive all of these deported people and their families?" Arellano said on the opening day of the "First Parliament of Mexican Migrant Leaders Who Live in the U.S."
We certainly hope Mexico is prepared to receive more of its citizens back. Then they can get to work on improving their inadequate social net instead of printing up directions on how to take advantage of ours. Republican candidates are getting a ton of traction on this issue and the Democrats are taking a beating.

Hmmm.....ship them all back to whereever they came from based on Mexico's immigration policies and all freebies need to cease along with automatic citizenship by birth when the parents are not citizens and held to the jurisidiction of the US government, hence the Mexican president(s)/activists, etc. constant refrains about "helping our citizens."

Ahhh yes, the starvation trick of old. Let me share an Afghan soldier's idea of a typical hunger strike. I remember there was an Afghan soldier who wanted to extend his Ramadan fast. He basically chose to do a hunger strike in defiance to his superior officer. In reality, he was just lazy. While his comrades worked tirelessly in the sun building a weapons compound, he sat watching them, scowling at his Captain and doing nothing. His superior officer realizing he was jeopardizing the mission at hand by doing so, immediately ordered him to go back to work. He received ONE order.
The soldier disobeyed the direct order and was immediately snatched up by four Afghan soldiers. They each began pulling his arms and legs in unison, while another came up and began striking him violently along his spine with a wooden shovel. His bloodcurdling screams resonnated throughout the camp. If that wasn't enough, another soldier came up and beheaded him with a jagged stone as another tried force feeding him yellow rice. As he bled profusely to death they laughed and scorned him for refusing to eat. They manually moved his jaw up and down to simulate him still being able to eat. After the beheading, the officers retreated to their tent and happily drank chai. The enlisted men kicked the head around as though they were playing soccer.
She is lucky she lives in a country where she can demonstrate freely. The above is life in Afghanistan. Where there is no quality of life. Hardly any respect for other human beings. Whoever said Afghans are a peaceful people never dealt with them during war.

I think the hunger strike is a good move on her part. She was really starting to plump up just before her deportation. Maybe she can lose a few and find herself a nice suitor with U.S. citizenship.

I think she was on a Jenny Graig diet Or was it a Jennio Garcia diet? She should of tried the LA weight loss diet.
There was a short article in one of yesterday's papers about how Mexico requires at the very minimum a visa to aquire a driver's license. Funny how they can't follow the rules here. it's just like their immigration policy towards other Central and South American citizens.
Sounds like she is pissed that she is no longer the center of attention.

I too served in Afghanistan. I know they are capable of doing awful things to their fellow mankind. They are diabolical human beings! That story wasn't even close to the horrific things they do!
