Connections

From the comments:
  • The Organized Crime Division during recent times.

Ray Risley was the Chief of Organized Crime and a good friend of Miedzanowski.

Bill Callahan was the Commander of the Intelligence Section and is now in business in Orlando with the daughter-in-law of Daddano.

Wayne Johnson and John Murray were investigators in the Intelligence Section under Callahan. Both of these individuals had connections with the Chicago Crime Commission.

Wayne Johnson becomes the Chief Investigator at the Chicago Crime Commission and strongly critized Mayor Stevens of having organized crime connections.

Wayne Johnson becomes the Chief of Police in Cicero and John Murray becomes the Inspector General in Cicero when Betty Lou Maltese was the Mayor and Edward R. Vrdolyak was the town's legal advisor.

Johnson retracts his claims about Mayor Stevens. When he departs he accepts a buyout and signs a non-disclosure agreement. Murray is forced out.

Cline was a lieutenant in the Gang Crimes Section under Risley and supervised Miedzanowski. He had a close friend who had outfit connections that was murdered. He also was close with Hanhardt. When he becomes Superintendent the FBI and US Attorney's Office are not comfortable briefing him on OC matters.

    Damning facts!!
Anyone ever hear of the game "Six Degrees of Separation"? The theory is that anyone can be connected to any other person on the planet by no more than six intermediaries. The mathematics of the whole theory is kind of sketchy at best, but it can be demonstrated often enough to make an amusing pastime.

Does anyone else find it amusing that no matter who the boss is, they are never more than 2 or 3 degrees of separation from Capone's old hangout of Cicero. And we're not talking about connections via meetings or award ceremonies. We mean dinners, assignments, who worked for whom and so on.

The connections aren't threads as much as great big hawsers the US Navy uses to tie aircraft carriers to seawalls during a typhoon.

Wayne Johnson was brought in by the town president who succeeded Betty,(Ramiro Gonzalez). He was originally installed by the town board, but he did go on to win the next election.

Correction

Wayne Johnson and John Murray were not hired by Cicero when Betty Lou Maltese was the mayor.
They were hired by the Mexican Mayor who replaced her.
Vrdolyak was still the legal advisor.
Johnson accepted a buyout from the current mayor and Murray was fired by him.

Prior to Miedzianowski getting arrested, Cline was one of a very few bosses on this job that actually tried to fix the problem. However, Risley and others would counter any move Cline made against Joe.

Cline was one of the most corrupt Supers we ever had (look at his promotions and their connections and the guys who bought their promotions with gifts and favors to Cline and guys who were legends in their own mind as POs and were made Dept. Chief, etc., etc. The other supt.s merely turned a blind eye. Throughout his career, Cline was in it up to his eyeballs, but Daley made him anyway (why would being corrupt bother Daley?). As a result, we end up with an FBI guy who has never, ever been the police a day in his life and our reputation as a professional police department is down the drain. Disgraceful, but Daley gets a pass on this as well.

Don't forget that loser Lt. Nick Nickeas who retired from Intelligence along with Detective Bobby Brown and then both got a nice lucrative job as security consultants at the "Mobbed Up" strip joint on Kingsbury.
I mean what did they do, put in an application stating they were Chicago Police Officers for thirty some odd years (who worked Intelligence, specifically intelligence on organized crime) and the "owners" at the strip club said, "Geez look at deese guys resumes. Let's hire them they seem like nice fellas"

connections, clout, politics (the politics of race, gender, ethnicity, family connections, friendships and alliances, Democratic political clout).....those influences have infected and corrupted CPD exempt ranks, along with the so-called "merit" promotions, for years and years. If we started now, it would take decades to undo it all and straighten it out (and that's without a politically corrupt city, county, and state government). Given the existing political situation, the chances of making CPD administration, operations, promotions, and assignments legitimate are between slim and none (and "slim" just left town)...

Perhaps all of us could have a "lapse of judgement" when we complete our next MANDATORY ETHICS STATEMENT. Except I won't immediately sign up in the military to avoid an investigation. This totally reeks fraud....hello Mr. Fitz?

Cline might not be the most corrupt Supt. but he would be a close 2nd behind Rodgiguez. When someone speaks of Zonnis one has to remember that Rodriguez brought Zonnis back on the job and put him under the protection of Michael Hoke, head of IAD. From one who stood these assholes for years has always had a wish to see them and their boyfriends go to jail, do not pass go and do not collect $200 since they pocketed that years ago.

just fyi 100% of your payroll contributions go directly to the fund, which help a lot of officers. i know first hand because they gave my old partners family money to help tide them over till they could figure out what to do next at after they lost thier loved one.
cline and the two other paid members are paid directly from private corporation donations. not that without those high priced salaries more money could go to the officers in need.
all this info can be verified easily enough through the internet, so bash cline and anyone else you feel you need to, but don't call for no deductions to the fund because it is very helpful to those that need it, god bless and happy holidays.

I hate to break it to you, but Daryl Gates and William Bratton and Charles Whitman don't want anything to do with Chicago and promoting from within just reorganizes the same bullshit into new piles. You ain't gonna get a Super worth having from your current exempts.

The rest went to pay salaries for Cline& the Credit Union Guy.

Zonis has always blamed ADS Michael Hoke and no one else for the investigation.
