From the Comments

First up:
  • Some day SCC, I hope to be as all knowing as you, the Great OZ of the CPD, so I can jump to conclusions as to what someone may or may not have said or done.
Well, keep working at it. It takes a lot of work to jump to our own conclusions - you have to be educated, have a healthy distrust of the powers that be, be willing to think for yourself and not swallow every press release by the City, the Department and political suckhole that comes down the pike.
  • Instead of bashing him, why don't you give the guy credit for working on a Saturday? Most Alderman don't work any day of the week and this guy is putting in time on a Saturday.
Working a Saturday? We work Saturdays all the time - five out of every seven. We're pretty sure Tunney wasn't working as an aldercreature on a Saturday.
  • No doubt you would have been more pleased if the Alderman had been shot so you could turn the incident into another pro gun rant. Not that I believe in the gun ban, you just become tiresome at times...but it's your blog now, isn't it?
Had to take the low road, didn't you? We don't recall ever saying we wished aldercreature Tunney dead, shot, maimed or harmed. We wouldn't have lost any sleep over it one way or the other, but wishing particular harm on anyone isn't a habit of ours. We certainly would have joined in the celebrations if one of the offenders had been shot, but that didn't happen. And thanks for noticing it's our blog.

The second comment from our newest troll, fillmoreranger:
  • appears the situation worked out just fine WITHOUT him discharging a firearm! No one injured, no proceeds taken, bad guys behind bars... whats wrong with that? You gun nuts never cease to amaze me... you take a situation that worked out just fine and ask "well where was his gun?" WHO CARES! Imagine if he had gotten off a round, it misses the intended target (which Im sure it would being I cant see the rainbow coalition doing much target practice) goes through the window at Clarkes restaurant and hits an innocent person... now what? This is a perfect situation that shows how guns and the gun nuts are out of control! Guns are not the answer!
No one injured because the offenders (who outnumbered the aldercreature 5 to 1) chose not to injure anyone; property lost and recovered was one empty wallet, and we haven't seen if these kids went to the Audy home or were released to their parents, but we doubt they spent much time behind bars.

People who refuse to be victims can prevent more crime than those who acquiesce to predators. If the offenders had any question that someone was armed, this wouldn't even have happened. As it is, the punks know the odds are in their favor, especially in the boystown area - the place is crawling with victims.

Every single state that has concealed carry or will issue permits has experienced a drop off in crime. Every one. And every place that restricts guns see a massive upsurge in attacks. This isn't a US phenomenon - it's international. In Australia, assaults and property crime skyrocketed following a gun ban. England? Same thing and they are currently trying to outlaw knives because of the tremendous up-tick of stabbings.

You claim guns are not the answer? You're not asking the right questions.

I'm laughing right now because there's not a chance in hell that fillmoreranger is really a cop. It must be a cops liberal suburban grandchild or something. Aldermonsters work on salary. If a cop saw anyone in a monsters office after hours, they'd investigate a burglary. Whddya think? He's there trying to make streets safer, school lunches more nutricious, traffic flow smoother? Right.

On the gun note: I saw a comic today that was of two guys sitting on a park bench reading the paper outside a mall. The one says, Why is it that all these massshootings happen in gun free zones." The other replies, "For the same reason they don't happen at firing ranges." You can take whatever side you like on the gun issue but I for one have never heard of a shooting at a gun range. For that matter (I'm sure there are hundreds but...) I have never heard of a licensed person who was lawfully carrying shooting someone because of road rage. It has had to have happened at some point, cops do it every so often, but I can't remember ever hearing about it....

Okay, so you don't wish Ald. Tunney harm, but admit that, "We wouldn't have lost any sleep over it one way or the other,"

Anyone who can say that they wouldn't lose any sleep over the death of another human being is a coldhearted SOB and needs help. Please seek it for your own good and that of those who love you.

I like the comment from the letter to SCC: So many victims in Boystown? My opinion....It's called the changing face of the landscape of the city. Those yuppies in Humboldt Park area or the newer condos on Madison Street catch just as much crap in their area.....except they have alarms on EVERYTHING. Boystown has its own internal predators and those from the changing area. Get in the hood and see for yourself.

"Guns are bad nobody should have guns" evil people are bad there shouldn't be any evil people. but there are. It's not the guns little tommy, it's the people. Everyone attacks SCC as a gun nut, how about our constitution and our right to protect our homes and our lives. As police, we recognize this because we protect your life and property every day. There is a big difference between a gun nut and a constitution nut. right now we have constitution nuts in iraq and afghanistan fighting to protect it. Do you think there gun nuts too?

So no one should have guns at all? What about the cops? Don't you think that if there were no guns criminals would find something else? Maybe like a bat or pipe.
Then who would be there to help you if no one was armed? Are you trying to take us back 300 years where we can fight and defend ourselved with swords and clubs? When someone tries to rob you or invade your house I hope you can defend yourself because odds are a cop isn't going to be there. Asshat.

Is there any truth to the rumor about an off-duty TRU officer who was robbed of his wallet and star in the urban pioneer neighborhood around Madison & Western last week?

Then I guess I am a cold hearted SOB because I could care less if most on SSI burned along with their undeserving link card.

They posess zero desire to contribute to society. Most are nothing but a drain on society and the economy.

So kiss my who who's ya liberal puke.

Hey 12.17.07 @ 12:51am,

I'm not making a comparison between the alderman and
that guy Couhy in Florida who buried young Jessica Lundsford alive after raping her for days but let me tell you, I'm not going to lose any sleep when Florida ends that animals life. I'm going to throw a party in memory of Jessica Lundsford.

You probably feel the death penalty should be abolished because even animals like Couhy are "humans" in your warped, navel- gazing, meally-mouthed, liberal, asshat logic.

You're the one who needs " help" for the sake of the majority of citizens and law enforcement alike who know when you allow predators to cherry pick and scream, " I have Rights!" after disingaging from being in the act of pissing on the rights of others you're creating a world of victims.

Nobody wins a battle with this "equal" force response bullshit liberal lawyers have clusterfucked our legal system with. Your predatory "humans" know this quite well and they game it for all they can. Have you ever been a victim of an assault?

That guy in Texas, Mr Horn who shot two men who broke in to his neighbors home, he did the right thing. Yes he did, even shooting them in the back. You know why? Because the moment they broke into that home they gave up any rights they had.

Those that respect the rights of another get them in return.

That's probably the safest neighborhood in Texas now.

(not a cop)

poster at 1:11 please note that guns are inanimate objects---like scalpels---not "bad', it all depends on who's hand the object is and what they do with it

Crook county commissioner Beavers is trying to spread "Chicago style" gun control to the whole of crook county. :(

Basically bans every pistol that doesn't have a internal lock, and loaded chamber indicator that any non gun person could recognize as loaded.

This needs to be stopped.

"Date Introduced: 12/4/2007
Date Passed:
Beavers Co-Sponsors:

Ordinance to require registration of certain firearms.

Referred to Committee on Legislation, Intergovernmental and Veterans Relations.

Full Text of Legislation:

BE IT ORDAINED, by the Cook County Board of Commissioners that Chapter 58 Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions, Article III Offenses Involving Public Safety, Division III, Section 58-130 through Section 58-145 of the Cook County Code are hereby enacted as follows:

Sec. 58-130. Short Title.

This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the “Safe Streets/Weapons Registration Ordinance.”"
