Inspector General Making Enemies
Good job David:
Inspector General David Hoffman’s decision to investigate mayoral son Patrick Daley’s hidden interest in a sewer inspection company that did business with the city is almost certain to widen the rift between Mayor Daley and his corruption-fighting inspector general.
But if the mayor is miffed about it, he wasn't saying so today. In fact, Daley wasn't saying anything at all about the controversy.
Just about a month ago, Hoffman had a shot fired across his bow by Daley's review board when they re-hired a piece of trash named Joseph Annunzio even though the review board found that he had actually done the things he was accused of doing. At the time, we wrote that Hoffman just had himself publicly emasculated.
Seems Hoffman has a learning disability AND can manage to grow his balls back following Daley's impromptu surgery. That's a good thing to see and we support his efforts fully. Good luck Mr. Hoffman.

I had a great dream last night.
Hoffman, Fitzgerald and Jody Weis took Daley out of City Hall in cuffs and leg irons.
After being processed at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, he was stripped, dressed in a pink Ferguson safety smock to thwart any suicide attempt while in a windowless segregation cell for 23 hours a day.
He was then convicted of multiple RICO counts and sentenced to the SuperMaz in Colorado.
Then I woke up.
Heard the Mayor hit the ceiling when he asked the Mayor why he didn't have an Ethics statement on file? The Mayor produced one about an hour later!
The mayors under the gun again! The Feds want to know why so much money is sitting in TIFFS and the city is raising taxes! He's Teflon no More!

Daley directed the investigation be opened against his son, who is currently overseas and uninterviewable.
Daley wants it to look like this investigation is not wanted and how even the MAYOR'S SON can be looked at when wrong doing is mentioned.
I can tell you this right now. There will be an investigation. The Mayor and his Son will be cleared of wrong doing and the Mayor will be able to preach that even he and his family can be investigated without prejudice.

David Hoffman is the real deal. Never lost his balls, not growing them back now. If you look at what he's done since he got in, he is amazingly consistent from day to day.
It's Hoffman's job to investigate the Mayor's son, and he will do it, no matter if the Mayor thinks he can make hay of it or not.
And on, and on, and on it goes...
Doesn't ANYBODY enforce the law impartially anymore? If I did one thing wrong I'd be in the pen, while these politicians are immune from all laws apparently.

Worked with Hoffman when he was the supervisor at the U.S. Attorney's office in charge of their gang unit. He was a fan of the police like his boss Fitzgerald. An honorable, very intelligent and well spoken person. The mayor might have gotten more than he wanted when he hired Hoffman. He clerked for Chief Justice Renquist and I believe want to Yale law. Was in private practice with major law firm and decided to enter public service. When he leaves it will be the City of Chicago's loss. The large firms will be lined to get him back. Hoffman is the type of person that should be running government, not getting run over by it.

Of all the deals going on with Daley's clan, the DV Urban Development one is the most amazing in that a small connected clique with very limited experience has been given 68 million dollars of pension money and for the most part nobody seems to be going Defcon Five over it.

The way the square-dance works is the mayors nephew, Vanecko and his Development company don't really care if there re-development of property for low income people goes the way of Rezko's re-developements, that is in to foreclosure because by that time Vanecko and and all his consultants and builders will have already been paid.
The people that will be left holding the bag will be the investors. That's the people that have paid in to the pensions.
When Allison Davis and Vanecko made there pitch to the eunechs on the pension board they told the board, "Investors must be prepared to lose all or substantially all of their investment,".
There ought to be a law against pension money being given to politically connected people and the pensioners ought to have a vote on how there money is invested.

Just to clear this up - wasn't it his brother who was cleared in the killing? Not RJ. And I agree - how this was not investigated is disgusting - unless of course the family of the deceased was paid for their grief. It was a very sad story.

All of us should be supportive of Hoffman and his investigators who are paid peanuts and work harder than we know. They get no paid overtime, must really work an 8.5 day, and most make less than 2nd year coppers. Daley thought if he could keep them paid low, hoffman would get low producers, but he's got a great new crew.

I thought there were many laws and regulations restricting and limiting the levels of risk a pension could be exposed to.
If there weren't, what's to prevent a pension board from 'investing' pension funds at any of the many craps tables in Vegas or Atlantic City?
Or in buying Lotto tickets?
Or float some or all of that pension on the streets, at the prevailing vig?
There's got to be something illegal about this deal, no legitimate pension board would ever place the funds that they've been entrusted with managing into an 'investment' clearly stating "Investors must be prepared to lose all or substantially all of their investment,".
That kind of shit is supposed to be only for the victims of bunko artists, not something one would expect to get past a pension board 'protecting' the solvency of a police labor union's pension fund.
