Pathetic
- A fight between inmates at a maximum-security division of the Cook County Jail sent seven possible gang members to area hospitals Saturday night. Just before 7 p.m., a fight broke out between a group of inmates in the 9th division of the Cook County Jail, one of the three maximum-security divisions in the jail, Cook County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Cunningham said. The fight was believed to be gang-related.
At least two inmates are in critical condition. One would assume no great loss. Until you add up the amount of tax money being drained to pay for medical treatment along with the housing and food provided during their court sanctioned stay in our 5-star County Jail.

Of course, The John Howard Association will find a way to blame the Sheriff, the County and ultimatly the taxpayers for this.

It is obvious you have no idea what goes on in the jail. I used to work in Division 9 and just like CPD there are good and bad people working there.
Please tell me how the Corrections officers were supposed to stop this. There is typically one unarmed guy watching 44 or more inmates armed with prison shanks.
Please don't make stupid comments unless you have been there. You sound like those idiots who watch the Abbate video and condem the entire CPD.
I was so glad to get out of there. Imagine, how annoying these s***heads are when you are processing them x 44, and now do it for 8 hrs a day. Those guys earn their money.

Make the county jail a Level l DOC area, that should resolve the problem. Thank God I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this job.

FYI-jail homicides go on cook county index-not chicago-sheriffs do all their own paper as of 3 years ago.that includes rapes,agg. batts.arson etc.it is called killing crime the DALEY way.

Im guessing you never walked on to a deck of 66 prison hard inmates, with out a pistol, pepper spray or taser.The first time that heavy ass door locks behind you know your on your own. Its just you and 66 animals. Maybe you need to grow a set of nuts and try it for a while. Every cpd officer should work they for a year. If you can control a bunch of assholes witout a pistol,you sure as hell can do it with one. We are overloaded with people who would sh*t themselves if they saw a bad guy and were'nt armed. Im current CPD and former div 9 ccdoc. Until you go and slug it out in there for a while save your B.S. for yourself. Im guessing you wear cpd shirts every where you go, and only picked up women after you go on the job..... Rubber (JUst looked at the other postings. I see theres a fellow div 9 guy, Im sure you can attest, if you didnt work in there you wouldnt have a clue. Id like to see a lot of these s**t talkers rush in to a deck thats gone up, with people shanking each other all over the place and not have a pistol. Furhtermore theres no where to hide. You cant drive away.
it's not the deputies fault. i use to work there also and that is the most thank-less job ever! i used to be locked inside an inmate tier with 48 inmates and me inside div XI supermax. no interlock to separate us etc. ive seen many riots jump off and fights and there's nothing you can do. your all by yourself except the dog-ass upstairs in the control booth whos suppose to be watching the monitors, but instaed she is doing her nails and yapping on the phone. also, female ofc's were'nt allowed to respond to riots and they received the same pay check i did. so your by yourself even more. 99% of them were useless and all you ever saw was them eating. so in that case you just let them fight until 25 min's go by and you get enough ofc's to go in and try to break it up. so glad i left that shit hole! a very stressful and thankless job!

Exactly, why rush in and try to break it up? who cares if they are fighting? let them kill each other, lob tear gas in there when it's over and collect the injured and dead.
I think the deputies in the jail do a great job. Some are dogs? Of course. Some members of the supreme court are dogs as well. Whats the point? And believe it or not, some memebrs of the CPD are dogs. Like the moron who posted the drivel regarding the jail deputies.
Well, the feedback from CCJ employees can be welcome on the topic. It is a shit job and no one questions the danger around those animals. God love the hard working ones over there. I don't ever see any IDOC posters on the blog. Any comments from IDOC out there?... Ooops, they haven't built a computer so eay a caveman can use it yet. Sorry!
