TASERs are on the way...after a crooked bidding process:
Tasers could soon become standard equipment for Chicago Police beat cops as a "less than lethal" alternative to guns, but a Cook County study has found the electric-shock weapons can trigger heart rhythm problems -- and even death.
The city is seeking bids for 2,500 tasers, far beyond the 350 now in use by the department. The department also is considering putting cameras on Tasers to record how the weapon was used.
And just how did the County come by their study?
- In one test, 11 pigs were hit with 40-second electrical bursts. After a 10-second delay, they were zapped again for 40 seconds. The bursts caused "significant rhythm problems," and two pigs died of ventricular fibrillation, Dennis said. Other tests showed the barbs' location can affect the heart's rhythm, he said.
For 40 seconds, the pigs were effectively paralyzed. That includes the diaphragm. Try holding your breath for 40 seconds, then hyperventilate for 10 seconds and give it another 40 seconds. Now while your holding your breath, beat yourself with a hammer to simulate the pain. We'll bet your heart rate goes up a bit.

Regarding the signs posted at the fuel sites.
Read the sign, it states you must swipe your ID, SIGN your name and pump your own gas IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE AN "M" PLATE.
If your vehicle has an "M" plate you are only required to swipe your ID, and SIGN the log.
You DO NOT have to fill out the log or pump the gas. That is the JOB of the attendant not yours.
DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU ANY DIFFERANT!
It was not a P.O. that they caught stealing gas it was several attendants seen pumpnig gas into non city vehicles. This is why then can olny now pump gas into a vehicle that has "M" plates.
Just pull in and sit there until, Slow Motion gets off his/her ass writes down you milage, outside number and "M" plate. You swipe your card and let them pump the gas. Then let them fill in the amout of gallons, you check the pump and sign your name.
Do not sign your name until the gas has been pumped and you check the the amount. They are watching the fuel sites every day now.
Don't get caught up in this mess!
And please don't do their job for them, they won't do yours!!!
If they tell you that you have to pump you own gas or refuse to pump gas into a vehicle with "M" plates. Call for your supervisor and call for thier supervisor. Then you will see how fast they pump your gas.

Tasers have been proven to effectively take the fight out of an aggressor without injury. It's the abuse of tasers by insensitive supervisors who give its use a band name. Ask Dr. Taser. He was recently promoted to LIEutenant.

Four Stages Of Being A Police Officer
FASCINATION STAGE
Years 1 - 4
For most officers, this is their first time outside of the middle class bubble. They have never seen a dead body, never seen life threatening injuries, never dealt with a family disturbance, never witnessed the shit some people call "home life", and never really understood the phrase "Man's Inhumanity To Man" until now. Everything is new to them. You can identify them by the amount of fancy new equipment they carry. A ten billion candlelight power torch, pens that write in the rain, a ballistic vest rated to stop tomahawk missiles, and an equipment bag large enough to house a squad of marines. They love it, they show up early for their shift. They work way past the end of their shift without even considering an O/T slip. They believe rank within the job is based only on ability and those in the upper ranks got there by knowledge and skill in police work only. They believe everyone is competent, ev eryone is on the same page and working towards the same high minded goals. When they finally go home to their significant other, they tell them everything they did and saw. Some of the more "eaten up" purchase a police scanner so they can hear the radio calls while at home.
HOSTILITY STAGE
Years 5 - 6
They now show up for work about 2 minutes before their shift, and they are hiding about 30 minutes before end of the shift, writing reports so they can just throw them in the sergeant's in-box and leave ASAP. They have to get to their second job to earn money to pay for the divorce that is pending. They gripe about everything, drink excessively, chase women, and hate the public, politicians, media, etc. They feel they have more in common with the hookers, thieves, druggies, etc. but hate them too. Those pens that write in the rain are no longer needed. Writing traffic tickets can be a lot more trouble than they are worth, even on a nice day. To write one, or to write anything while standing in the rain, is a sure sign of an insane person. Their spouse is no longer interested in hearing about all the gore and heartache. They get the "you spend more time with the PO's than you do with me" speech.
SUPERIORITY STAGE
Years 7 - 15
This is when PO's are at their best. They have survived changes in administration. They know how the political game is played, both inside and outside the job. They know who they can trust and who they can't. They have select friends within the job, and stay away, as best they can, from the nuts and boot-lickers. They know the legal system, the judges, prosecutors, defense lawyers, etc. They know how to testify and put a good case together. They are usually the ones that the gaffers turn to when there is some clandestine request or sensitive operation that needs to be done right. These PO's are still physically fit and can handle themselves on the street. They will stay around the station when needed, but have other commitments, such as a second spouse, a second girlfriend (sometimes both), and most of their friends are non job.
ACCEPTANCE STAGE
Years 16 - ????
Now the PO's have a single objective... retirement and pension. Nothing is going to come between them and their monthly pay slip. The boss, the force, the idiots around the station, and the creeps on the street can all go to hell, because they could come between them and "sitting on the beach". There is no topic of discussion that can't somehow lead back to retirement issues. These guys are usually sergeants, detectives, scenes of crime officers, community, or some other post where they will not be endangered. They especially don't want some young stupid cop getting them sued, fired, killed, or anything else causing them to lose their "beach time". They spend a lot of time having coffee, hanging around the station, and looking at brochures of things they want to do in retirement.
The retired cop usually dies within five years of retirement, saving the force a bunch of money. Of course, nothing is ever 100% true, but if you are a cop, were a cop, know a cop, then you will certainly recognize some of the above statements!!!!

I am not trying to argue that one should not be careful and properly trained when using force at any level, but ...
This may come as a surprise to you, but the actual conditions of the "study" were not reported correctly by the media. It is my understanding that they could only get the heart to be affected by the Taser if they moved the Taser probes closer to the heart. They had to surgically remove all the tissue between the probes and the heart to get the results they were seeking. Not surprisingly if you put the probes right next to a heart and then activate the Taser, it will have some negative consequences. So, be careful if you need to take action against a person with their heart on the outside of thier body.

I am retired for 8 years and work another job. Double dipper. That five year story is a rumor. Learn to survive by the 11th commandment. Thou shall mind thy own business. Why worry? Who cares? Exercise will hurt you. Eat while you can. Take a nap, relax and have sex once a year. Hug your dog and learn to laugh. Be glad you still can still take a leak. (10 minutes).

1-5 yrs. Go to Academy before others get in due to phone call/ family connections/ drop to Alderman..
Get accolades in Academy although really already obvious not very much "Real Police" material.
Get out of Academy after numerous fuckups, and get phone called to nice slow District, Afternoons or Days right away, working nice, slow beat with best restaurants.
5-10 yrs: get promoted via Clout even though worked only slow Districts, slow beats, desk or office, or Personnel already, and not even very competent at that. Took an old-timers spot as a Supervisor, although obviously previously incompetent at patrol work, take the best Supervisor Spot from old-timer Supervisor by weasely politicing,, again thinking only greedily about self-centered self, as taught by relatives who were past generations of CPD Clout Babies.
Bitch at the troops to more work even though you never even did half of what the worst worker on the watch did when you were in Patrol.
10-15 yrs. gimme more, gimmie more, gimme more, I deserve it, I should have another Merit Promotion already, cause I'm sooo good. So what if Hundreds scored higher than me on the fixed Promo Exam, It's all about ME! They can get their own Clout!

I talked to a radio guy, at 51st. Told him about the battery lasting about 4-5 hours then starts chirping.
#1) Told me that the battery we use has a useful life of about 2 years.
(Removed my battery and said it was over 3 years old) then he handed me a new one.
#2) Batteries HAVE to sit in a charger for 8 hours after reaching the green light. he said that could be explained by a radio person not keeping track of how long the battery has sat in the charger.
So what to do? Buy 2 of own batteries? I dont think so.

Tasers should be a standard piece of equipment for every Patrol officer in the field.
We don't need no stinkin' tasers!
Where I work on days, we have a school Sgt. who is able to talk violent people into willing submitting to arrest, even getting into the wagon unassisted! This Sgt. should be considered a role model for all! And he's got the cutest little haircut going on now...
