Another Lawsuit

  • The union that represents Chicago police sergeants wants its members to have a third crack at a lieutenant's exam, contending in a federal lawsuit that a retest violated a court decree restricting patronage.

After problems with the administration of the original test surfaced, the city offered to have all 660 applicants retake the exam.

The city said it would accept the better of the two scores. But applicants weren't told their scores on the first exam or whose scores were invalid, making it difficult for many to decide whether to retake it and risk a lower score, the suit, filed last week, said.
The fact that Mark Brown of the Sun Times published all the questions for the re-test that was supposed to gauge how well supervisors think on their feet was hilarious.

Schools across the country run exams with less BS than Chicago. Other government agencies don't have even .00001% of the problems Chicago has with any tests. It supposedly costs $4 million to run any promotional test. And damn near that again to defend it in court. Follow the Money Mr. Fitzgerald. Someone is getting rich of this.

I hope some asshole Sergeant spends tens-of-thousands of dollars fighting this "personal crusade" only to NOT make Lt. That'd be a double-whammy like no other...

C.F.D. has a scandal of it's own regarding a recent Captain's exam. One of the individuals who was caught up in the Fire Prevention Bureau scandal and is white has a time stamped copy of said test. He was looking to deal to maybe keep his job in the event that he is released. I hope something comes of this common practice because it seems the "storefront reverends" get copies of this test to ensure it is not racially bias. You know where it goes from there. Most of the incompetent Mr & Mrs Brown's on the job magically land at the top of the list even tough they can not make a pot of coffee......

Well all I can say is that a current CAPTAIN was 120 spots behind me on the Lieutenants list from the prior test. I think that says it all "JIMMY"?

Lawsuits could easily be avoided if they ran the scantron sheet at the completion of the test, and handed the results back as well. They used to do it this way. Heck the High Schools do it.

The fact that the city doesn't by NO MEANS indicates any suspicious activity on their parts'.

By NO MEANS is there any indication of unscrupulous goings-on on the city's part by taking 6months or longer to grade the tests either, of course, by NO MEANS because they've paid millions to have an accounting firm "handle" the testing.

BY NO MEANS whatsoever .......

Can I get some kool-aid at the next exam ?????

Please! Don't get me started on the City's rigged promotional "processes". You've struck my raw nerve.

I could deliver a manifesto corroborated by cardboard boxes full of "smoking gun" evidence that lead to the inescapable conclusion that no more than a quarter to a third of promoted lieutenants could be considered legit. In EXAMSCAM, we had both white and minority candidates with perfect scores in the legitimate multiple choice pass/fail exam who were summarily "flunked" by the rigged "oral interview" set at 80% weight (Remember "Notify the watch commander", etc.).

I really enjoyed Mark Brown's satire in the Sun-Times. Since Mr. Brown's spouse is none other than Ms. Hanke Gratteau, the Tribune's current managing editor for news, I believe that they are acutely aware that CPD personnel policies concerning promotions and assignments are as crooked as a corkscrew.

I've followed Ms. Gratteau's career since her early days as the late, legendary Mike Royko's assistant.
I regard both Brown and Gratteau as extremely gifted journalists whose integrity is above reproach.

Based on my own personal experiences with EXAMSCAM and litigation v. City, I have archives of fully documented analyses that will clearly demonstrate to anyone that these filthy, arrogant, treacherous cocksuckers will leave no stone unturned to perpetuate patronage. and corruption, Chicago-style.

Aside from Daley, I will never forget the traitorous "investigative reporter" Peter "Judas" Karl, then from TV Channel 5. Instead of concluding a follow-up to a damning expose on EXAMSCAM, he was bought off by Daley with a lucrative publicity contract for the CAPS debacle. Then Daley, Karl and the Tribune's late Jim Gallagher hung me out to twist slowly in the wind at the hands of the vicious bully--LeRoy Martin.

Never mistale the City's chicanery for mere incompetence. They shamelessly know precisely what they are doing. Yet the scammers will insult our intelligence by adamantly denying crimes and other wrongdoing.

Look at the top three off the last list. All Cline suckholes. Coincidence? I think not. How about the merit choices. 3 out of 5 were back in speacial units within 5 months of the promotion handed to them.

It's all real.

Honest and sideline question - is there a lot of respect/regard for Fitzgerald? For what I know I respect the guy, but lack personal contact or the ear to the ground. Seems to be honest and straight-up about doing his job without hiding dirty laundry.

Illinois insurance salesmen take a test. It is graded before they leave the room for a state license. Many more questions than CPD promotional tests. You know your score and they print your license 3 minutes after you leave your chair.

cpd TEST - nine months, graded by 23 year old college students

Took a promotional exam where one group at 9 am text messages questions to another 12 pm group while sitting ion the shitter.

Took a test some years earlier where people in the shitter openly discussed questions and told the zit faced 140 pound 22 year old proctor to shut the fuck up.

I'd like to know how the goofs on the PBPA Board did on the exam. I'm willing to bet that none of them scored in the top 100. More crying from the stupid and lazy who didn't do well. Come on Sgt.s Assoc. crybabies, let everyone know where the Pres., Vice Pres., etc., ranked on the list. More abuse of power and members dues by a bunch of do nothings that get paid by the members to run a golf outing and their collective mouths.

One newly appointed Lt. took the re-test from her house because she had an illness. How do we know it was her answering those questions? Every test that I take has a simple process of being fingerprinted when you leave the exam. Was an evidence tech dispatched to her house to collect her prints? Its easy to find out , query her home address and see if an event # was created for the E.T. request. I have your answer. NOT!!!!!!!!!
Wheres that damn event # when you need one?

To 7/31/2008 02:35:00 AM,

Dear Northside,

Glad to read your thoughtful, evocative assesment of the current test scandal. Hope these boneheads are taking it in. It's true. Even gladder to know your here due to the combined effort of 011th District P.O'S and a certain sergeant who quickly responded to the CC simulcast of "liberal stabbed on the street" and wisked you away after your little jaunt through Fillmore that fateful day.
Three tests later I inherited the mantle, or mentals, and continue the fight. Stripes ain't as bad as they claim! Good post, as usual.

Oh, yes, this was fair and impartial and not at all illegal or immoral.

What is with the Sgt.s beef. Didn't they promote enough of the "bosses" little kids. TO the "bosses", if they promoted one of your kiddies who did not know his job that is one to many. Let's face it, you spent all of that money and effort for college. they all have their degrees and you expect them to go from patrolman to commander in less than ten years. If your kid was a goof before he came on this job he won't change. He or she will always be a whinning little whore. For the good of everyone have him or her to back to teaching 2nd grade.

Touche! You got me, sarge.

I was indeed a naive, liberal college boy who didn't give a second thought to taking a nice, vigorous 7-mile walk downtown on Madison St. from my home in Austin. Why didn't this dummy take CTA #20.

In retrospect, I'm surprised I got as far as Sacramento Blvd. before getting stabbed from behind by two dudes for no apparent motive.

As we've seen so often among victims during our careers, I abandoned my knee-jerk, liberal ways overnight to morph slightly to the right of Vlad the Impaler.

A much belated thanks for your help. Could you eMail me the name of that 011 sgt. I believe I later worked with him. Could it have been MS, EN or CZ?

Kiss the promotion (#40) good bye Sgt. A.G. from AFU! That's what you get for abusing the medical and staying at home to "study" for 3 mos. while the rest of the sgt.'s in our unit picked up the slack.
Dumped from Narcotics twice (including having a whole team march into the Deputy Chief's Office and refusing to work for you), then dumped from AFU recently and you go crying to Peterson only to come back and be humiliated. Well, let me enlighten you several of us are preparing to do the same thing.
We are tired of your bullshit and we are willing to sacrafice our spots to prove to the current administration that the right decision was made in moving you.
There are no perks left here anyway. Increased work, no more take home cars, different hours, no O.T.,details, etc...
As you and everyone can see, we got nothing to loose!

The new administration claims that nepotism does not exist any longer but what about this.
UNBELIEVABLE!

Hey, stupid. Sure, everyone had the chance to re-take the 2nd part of the test. But the whole POINT was to make sure that the clout babies knew just what should be said and written to score the max points. The rest of us who weren't privy to the info had to cross our fingers . Didn't work.

Your protests sound very familiar, "lieutenant". However, in EXAMSCAM, there were lying, incompetent, clout-infested political hacks (white, black and Hispanic) that told me the same thing--like they "just got lucky". Bullshit!

However, at least twenty unidentified promotees, most of whom deserved the silver bar, 'fessed up to me and admitted the process was rigged. I was not about to make these truthful fellows into "lightning rods" by revealing their identities.

I will say that the first one was the best man at my wedding who has since passed on, God bless his soul.

Now, if you were to use your actual identity in your post, you might have a scintilla of credibility.

Otherwise, you should be summarily dismissed as just another "anonymous" Kool-Aid guzzler.

Gee, next promotional exam I would like to take at home, too. Perhaps my personal friend who had a part in developing the test can be my proctor.

Then maybe I can score in the top 10.

It's all legit folks.

I would say if you are unfortunately sick, sorry, wait till the next test.
