Heinous Battery
There really ought to be an "Officer Awareness" bulletin put out about this:
Police are seeking two female suspects who threw "caustic liquid" in a woman's face during an armed robbery Monday morning in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of West Altgeld Avenue when two females of an unknown age, threw caustic liquid on a woman's face during an armed robbery, according to Shakespeare District police Capt. Marc Buslik.
The woman was seriously injured and will probably need plastic surgery, according to Buslik, who said she was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition.
How many times do we walk up on cars and see a cup or bottle of coffee, soda, whatever? If you watch the video (over at Channel 2), these jagoffs were carrying something in open cups and then they scarred this woman forever. Watch yourselves.

This incident resonates with passion and jealousy. It doesn't sound like your typical robbery but an act of revenge intended to take the victim's beauty.
Could the victim have had an affair with one of the offender's boyfriends,husbands,etcetra?

Someone should have told her gang-bangin', dope-sellin' sons/relatives that shit like this can happen. Incidents like this aren't random. Maybe her baby-machine daughters shouldn't have "dissed" another illegal F/4 by sleeping with her "man". We all know how this shit starts and escalates. Starting to sound like this was a pointed attack on a specific, predetermined victim. Looks like the security cameras picked up enough to identify them with, too.
But, point well taken, SCC. Many moons ago, Operation Angel was directed (for a few months) at a specific n/w side offender who was squirting bleach and other caustic substances in hookers' faces when they walked up on his car. So they put a bunch of ppo females out on corners to try to snag him. What did the ppo's do? Peered into the cars of all the prospective johns, of course. Just lucky nobody got 'got'.
He turned out to be a little old grampa guy, only with a butcher knife under his thigh. You just never know who the bad guy's gonna be... be careful out there.

Not true. Have you ever got muriatic acid (pool chemical, cleaner) on your skin? It burns like a mo-fo instantly and it is in a plastic bottle.

Incident happened at 0628hrs. Channel 2 found out about the video and notifies 014 Desk. Calls made to A/5. 014 Dist. told, we are dealing with a double 0110 up in 25. P.O. told to fax report. Channel 2 and rest of media starts 11 and noon news and all hell breaks loose. All of a sudden about 1500 or 1600 CFD and Dics all over the scene. Nice! About 8-10 hrs after crime. Are we that low in manpower in the Detective Division also? J-Fraud and the rest of his FBI buddies are really fucking up.

i think thats any area, we know you can't depend on the 008th or 016th district when the shit hits the fan. and it isn't their fault. districts are too big, manpower is to low.
A little background on the last two acid attacks in chicago. Same victim.Young black female.
First was a group of young black males trying to abduct victim from her residence.Placed her in trunk and through acid on her.Victim was able to escape using emergency trunk release.This happened in the south loop.
2nd time victim was approached on street by two females in Skokie,IL. Offenders were stalking her and hell bent on burning her a 2nd time. One female offender holding a gun and one female offender holding the acid in container. Acid was thrown on victim directly hitting her face at gun point while victim was sitting in car.
Victim was burned severely.
And FYI: The victim of the two previous attacks I am speakin of was the daughter of two Chicago Police Officers.
Sent chills up my back to see the same attack pretty much done in the same way.
Concealed Carry is a must in Chicago.
Victim should not have been a victim twice.
No doubt there will be calls to require coffee cups to have lids soon so it will be harder to throw liquids out of them.
Or maybe coffee cup registration. bring your cup down to police HQ, pay a $20 a year fee, and then you can drink your coffee.

I'm over there a lot and the area is okay w/ the exception of the Milshire Hotel & La Estrella Club which is a HUGE dope spot (hello Bt. 1414!!! Wake up!). This wasn't a random attack.
But I do suggest that if you feel so tense of an impending attack that you move.
Let me tell you, I don't live on the Northwest or Southwest Side but I do live in a nicer area and it's worth it!

Last I checked, 014 is in Area Five. And who cares how well they dress? Dress as pretty as you want, as long as it doesn't keep you from doing your job.

This really should be an officer safety alert. I worked 2 years as an armored car driver/messenger in the early 90s and this was done to a guy from another armored car company, to blind the guy and it worked. I think it was bleach in a coffee cup. The guard never got his .38 out of the holster and the robber got big $$$. My partner and i both looked at each other when this came over the radio in the truck. Another one of our partners never took off his sunglasses on a stop, ever again. We agreed that we would shoot if they tried that one on us ! This would include the driver firing through the gunport, or even cracking the door open just enough to blast the badguy if needed to protect the messenger.
