And Speaking of Guns...

  • Chicago Police say more than 6,800 guns were collected Saturday during the city’s gun turn-in program.
Wait for it....wait!
  • That number exceeds last year's total of 6,705.
There it is! Just like the Taste attendance figures or the 03 July Fireworks totals or even Jerry Lewis's telethon numbers - always just over last years figures to maintain the illusion of success.

However....

Disturbing rumors are reaching our ears. Rumors of way more BB guns than anyone is letting on. Rumors of people coming up from Kentucky with non functional guns and turning them in for a quick $100. Sixty-six guns at one location as a matter of fact. And that's only the biggest total mentioned. How is this going to make Chicago streets any safer? Answer - it won't. The whole gun turn-in thing never has and never will. It's all theater for Daley, Pfleger, Meeks and the rest of their ilk.

Has anyone seen a breakdown of real guns vs. BB-type guns? Because $100 times 6,800 guns is $680,000 and $10 per 6,800 BB guns is only $68,000. That's a whole lot of leeway for donated debit cards and given the City's past accounting practices, let's just say more than enough room for "error." Good thing they have J-Fed on tape praising the turn-in. It's all legit because a former feeb says so.

My neighbor is a diehard nra guy. He collected all kinds of 3 dollar guns in the last 12 months and cashed them in at St. sabina's. He and his friends got over 21oo dollars for 50 dollars worth of junk metal. He does this every year. He is now taking his share of the profits and is buying some new guns from gats in dundee. great scam and legal too!!

Not to mention that there were jobs in 008 saying that there was a creme or biege car driving around a turn in site offering ppl more then $100 to get the weapon off their hands. LOL This program shows no downside at all!! The bad economy hasnt hit the urban communities yet, still top dollar paid for your slightly homicide used gun.

Next year if 3,200 guns are turned in the media number will be 6,900 turned in. Figures lie and liars figure.

I don't get the double talk? Every story starts with the figure, but they stte, "That the numbers were lower than expected." Then they end the story with the fact that they had to give IOUs for some. Which is it? Fewer guns or more? How are you going to give IOU's for a defunct BB gun? Who is going to foot the bill (you can hear the sarcasm in my typing, right?) So did the city anticipate more than 6800 guns? They had to of if there were disappointing nubers. If so, then why did they not have the cards to cover them?

wait just a fucking minute. you mean to tell me that a bb gun gets you $100 debit card. no fucking way. a brand new bb gun might cost you $40 bucks. i turn it in while in Chicago and get one hundred bucks for it. hmmm, let me do the math for just a minute. okay I'm done. fuck my 401k plan, fuck a long term cd, fuck my savings account, dumb ass Chicago is going to pay be bigtime the next time the gun turn in is up. I'm going to make 10's of thousands. just you watch.

Believe me I was there and watched more than one replica gun get a hundred bucks. Two different debit cards, one for $10.00 and the other for $100.00. Sure would like to see how many replica and BB guns got the hundred dollar prize.

Congratulations to Daley, et al., for "collecting a kilo of sand from North Avenue Beach", all for less than a half million dollars.

It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing that "the bad guys" are voluntarily giving up their shit.

It's gonna take a while to get all those guns in the system before an accurate count can be made. But rest assured that now, seeing as it's getting more public, the CAGE unit will be handling the BB guns differently for this lot. It's going to be a bit more difficult to determine which are BB guns and which aren't becuase people are being "taught" how to enter the bullshit guns. Much information will be missing that can easily identify BB guns, such as .177 caliber, the letters BB or B.B., manufacturer names like Crossman, Daisy, firearm type = BB or PELLET.

The same goes for starter pistols, which will be entered for their caliber, usually .22.

Additionally, in order to make just a bit more difficult, people are going to be instructed at differing times and places that they are to inventory the guns at difffering locations and various recovery dates to further obscure the true count from the real tally. 35th is counting on paper record from the drop sites and card expenditure plus some rounding up to give them the numbers they want.

Good luck though to anyone with Crystal Reports knowledge to find as many as they can and pulling out the NON firearm guns.

Yah, if they figured more guns they would have planned for more cards, why did they run out of cards then? How much money did they collect and how much was spent on cards for the guns?

Someone stealing money between the donations and the cards printed?

And why were they expecting more guns? Were they planning on Kentucky Joe and his friends to drop off multiple guns at one time? Where they counting on the people with HS diplomas to scavenge up as many worthless bb and rusted pitsols up as they could to rape the process?

With all that I've seen blogged here, I'm thinking the majority of the money spent buying back the guns went into the hands of people who either can't vote in this city or are smart enough not to vote for Daley anyway. Either way, it didn't accomplish any of the PUBLIC goals it was supposed to, but I'm sure the private goal of lining someone's pockets with "administrative" fees for this game was met or exceeded.

You guys better not blow this for me. I've been turning in non-functional crap for years and upgrading my arsenal. Shut up about it already so I can keep taking money from libtards. They're good for some things, you know. This whole BB gun thing was just icing on the cake for me. I also get a sick sense of satisfaction in buying friends annual memberships to the NRA at Christmas time using some of the cash from the turn in.

It doesn't really matter to me anyone's opinion. I will just say Area 1 and Area 2 was a lot quieter Saturday night and 1 gun off the streets of Chicago is a potential life saved. For a change, I was not called across the city all night from one homicide scene to the next. This job is making me sick to my stomache.

Or it could mean one life potentially lost, due to the absence of an effective means to defend that life.

Or haven't you ever considered that?

You get enough people to to turn in 5 or 6 pieces of garbage on your behalf, you could go out and buy a pretty nice weapon with the proceeds.

For the news conference, they must have collected the cream of the turn in crop. Some of them looked pretty servicable.

Good question.

Doesn't the FOID law require both parties to the transaction to be holders of valid FOID cards?

And what city or county law(s) would apply to said transaction being conducted within the city or county limits?
