Gun Turn In Totals
6,000 weapons. A far cry from the 14,000 J-Fed wanted. As of this time, we haven't seen any count of actual weapons versus lookalikes.
And we doubt we'll ever see a count of functional versus rusted out junkers, but the highlight reel didn't show too many high quality firearms that we could see. We're sure there are one or two museum quality pieces worth ten or twenty thousand dollars - there always is. The rest might not even be worth their weight in the scrap steel they contained.

Gee,why don't they show a news photo of the actual junk guns that were turned in instead of the usual police photo of guns put on the display table rounded up from holsters of the officers?

Tragically J-Fed ain’t suppressing any crime over this weekend from his ineffective crime fighting strategies. The community turned in another 6,000 guns off the streets....also yesterday a dozen or more persons shot...several murdered. Did the gun turn-in stop any of the “out-of-control” killing going on here in Chicago? I bet most people turning guns in aren't even gang bangers at all. Just regular folks not knowing what to do with grandfather's gun that’s been sitting in a closet collecting dust.
I hate peeing on the parade people...but I’m not jumping on this bandwagon. Instead of a weapons turn-in what about a Shooters Reward Program? How many felons are out there wanted for all these handgun murders? Do we have any bounty money for them? Why is it that our local criminal justice system doesn’t provide standard rewards for information leading to an arrest?
If you go to the Dept’s website each district publicizes their most wanted...I don’t see any reward money being offered for them.
How about a Bureau of Pre-Crime, an elite task force spearhead by one of our executive command staff members who handle the Tastee, they could use their predictive capabilities that a murder is going to happen before it takes place. Armed with that knowledge, they can arrest someone before he actually kills, saving the victims and preventing the crime?

I was listening to comments on AM780 radio yesterday...a guy said he turned in a 9mm pistol. Thats one less gun for the police to have to deal with. I just hope the guy doesnt end up needing it for protecting his family against a home invasion...
and those 2 or 3 museum quality guns are going to get burned just like the rest of them. Inspectors along with other various personnel accompany the weapons to the destruction site to ensure nothing disappears.
Give out a card and track them against the number of weapons turned in and it gets tough to pull the good ones.
Unless of course you bring your own shit gun to substitute in if you find a museum piece come by. That way the count stays in line with the missing credit cards and everything gets burned. Gotta do that on site tho and hope you get away with it.

The Daley slave CPD Supe just says wahtever Daley wants him to because he is getting 350K LARGE per year to lie.

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in front of a residence on the South Side.
The man, identified as Thomas Williams, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was shot in the abdomen and possibly in the groin, an Englewood District officer said.
The shooting happened about 2 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Emerald Avenue.
Williams, of the 2000 block of W. 80th St., was pronounced dead at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Center at 3 a.m.
No shooter is in custody.

Friday night, Andy Shaw commented (on Chicago Tonight) that two guns from last year's turn-in were implicated in two homicides. He was pretty critical of the fact the chain of evidence is blown by this anonymous 'recovery' method.
He also cracked on Daley 'getting his own way' all the time and flat-out said the red-light cameras are there solely for bringing in revenue.
Methinks the blinders are coming off the media.

I am no fan of Andy Shaw but it's a start.
