Guess This Gun Wasn't Turned In
- [...] an 8-year-old Rockford boy, is dead after being shot in the chest by a 9-year-old as they played with a gun in the backyard of an apartment building. [His] death is being called an accident. Investigators are trying to learn who brought the gun to the backyard and how it was obtained. They're also hoping to question the weapon's owner.
So where were the parents? Why wasn't the gun locked up or rendered safe?
Questions that ought to be asked instead of the shrill screams from Blago and Daley we can expect over the coming weeks.

This is what happens when the parent(s) fail to teach their children about all of the many realities of life.
Life is full of perils; the body can be cut, burned, bruised and broken, as well as frozen, suffocated, poisoned and diseased.
Parents, presumably, teach their children to look both ways before crossing the road, refrain from placing a plastic bag over their heads, keep their balance when walking, running or playing, duck when a punch is thrown their way, avoid an open flame and boiling fluids, inspect for spoilage before eating anything, don't put anything in your mouth that doesn't belong there, etc., so, how do 8 or 9 year olds NOT know the difference between a TOY gun and a REAL one?
(This presuming that the shooting wasn't intentional)
What I find really laughable is that in order to buy a gun someone has to run a criminal background check on you. According to some new legislation that Alderman Burke and others want to pass, in order to have an intact dog in the city of Chicago a criminal background check has to be run on the owner, the family of the owner, and friends of the owner. Talk about ridiculous!

I was 9 once.My father bought me an old Remington slide action .22 rifle.He taught me firearm safety and that while its inherently dangerous,it can be handled safely(like a power tool) in the right hands.
I knew how to handle a firearm safely.I knew how to check to see if it was loaded,and to NEVER point it at anything I wasnt prepared to shoot.I was taught never to point it at anyone,except a bad guy.
I was also taught my parents word was law.I was not permitted to touch the rifle without their permission.
What happened to the America I once knew??

I heard that the pistol wound up in the yard after the Rockford PD chased an M/1 gangbanger with a pistol and lost sight of dude momentarily. Dude had the pistol after it was passed to him by the M/1 who shot out the tourist's hotel room window after the Taste. The original dude got it after he took it from an unlocked desk drawer of Harvey Mayor Kellogg? The mayor of Harvey got it from a constituent on the way to Shitcago to trade it in for a $100 mastercard a few years back. Quite interesting if you think about it.
