Just so Everyone Knows

Thirteen months without a contract. Arbitration ought to be filed for shortly. Perhaps that's why the mayor is screaming "poor"? Even with arbitration, we'd guess we're a year away from anything anyway.

Some how, some way, da mayor will find a few hundred million to move the children's museum from Navy Pier to Grant Park.

It doesn't matter that it's a complete waste of our tax dollars and barely anybody actually attends the place. Da mayor wants it, so it must be done!

Then, the police will get the shaft, as usual.

And FOP will not ask for anything other than what its told to do from mayor daley.

The city is offering 2% a year. Whats Flop asking for???3.5%
BFD. FlOP shoud be asking for 7% a year. Cost of living is up at least 6% a year. Nice huh. But keep on making those arrests. We will get screwed yet again only because we dont stick together.

At least the 25 Districts are feeling the work slow down. Tickets down by thousands each month in every district. At least we are getting smarter.

When Donahue and Co. ran against Nolan's people a few years ago, wasn't it a priority that they weren't going to allow the city to drag out contract negotiations. Donahue's regime were "going to get them done in a timely fashion". When was the last time one of these union guys was at your district/unit? Only around election time, if I recall. I voted against every one of them, and they still all retained their spots.

California just banned trans fat statewide, that is one I have to agree with. Adding a hydrogen molecular structure to saturated fat is a known killer.

It takes time to purchase products that don't have any partially hydrogenated fats in them, you can't base it on the label saying no trans fats, that only means it has a negligible amount per serving. They have reduced serving sizes to accomodate this loophole.

My advice is don't eat anything with partially or wholly hyrogenated fats.

Waste!!!!could we have a posting on the new (Cook County Magazine)!!

You have to hear about this one!!!

Stroger pays an incompetent shithead ...must be a friend of the family!! $24,999 to start a magazine that is postive about his administration.

First off if he gave $25,000 he would need County board approval, so he stays under by $1

Then the shithead he gave all the money to puts out a magazine (5000 copies) full of grammatical errors, and incomplete sentences..

Ebonics at its finest...

So none will be distributed..

This is why we have the highest tax rate in the fuc%in country..
Idiots running shit ...

This is all documented in the Sunday Scumtimes!

Stroger spokeman Mullins says he will not distribute them and need a way to get rid of them!!

I'll take them asshat...Then I'll run for County board president with some more ammo against this piece of SHIT

Holy Schizophrenogenic Batman!!!

The Police Department has been crippled by rampant misbehavior of police officers and their supervisors, ridiculous political posturing by local career politicians and police exempt mismanagement. [De-policing is a "law enforcement strategy in which police avoid accusations of racial profiling by ignoring traffic violations and other petty crimes committed by members of visible minorities." In a sense de-policing is the opposite of racial profiling.]

Isn’t everything that happen to the Police Department through intention and by accident the direction we really need to go?

Requiring questionable quantitative measures by unit and officer...is that a true and accurate assessment of performance?

Or is it the single most damaging aspect to constitutional protections. You know those peculiar signs like the enforcement of abstract laws and ordinances by police.

Common sense will tell you that when a supervisor asks for arbitrary law enforcement activity they are challenging their subordinates to run the risk of over jealous policing.

De-policing. Not an ex-federal lawman for a Superintendent is what the Chicago Police Department needs.

De-Policing! We want more of it!

A laundry list of what a police manager should be cannot be found in a book or a classroom paid for by tuition reimbursement.

Police managerial blood must flow through the veins, heart, liver, lungs using the arteries to transport refreshed fluid within a system called boss. The bosses' brain needs oxygen and energy to assess it's environment, direct, and motivate others through all forms of communication. A continuing standard of rational behavior based on experience, style and technique. A true leader's body and mind can do all this plus inspire, anticipate and correct those imbalances."

We need you to step up to the plate and take a swing.

You know, you!

Now it is our time!

I heard from a union rep that FOP is going to hold out a little longer before filing for arbitration because the olympic copmmittee will not selct a city who is in the middle of a contract dispute with emergency responders. heard that it will besometime by April when teh city will feel the pressure of giving us a contract and hat we will be able to use the olympics as leverage.

don't know if this will work, but we shold use the olympics as leverage as we know the city will have no problem using us at their every whim if they get the olympics.

There is no way arbitration will be filed this early. The FOP will hold out as long as they can. The olympic committee wants us all under contract. Why try to settle it now? We need to keep "de-policing", and get what we can get while we watch the city crumble around us.

Regardless of what you think about all of the wasteful spending from the Mayor, the Alderman, etc.

The only way we get paid and our pension stays at least partially funded is through revenue the city collects.

Punishing the City by not producing any revenue may not be the most effective means of protest.

Here is some money;
The $200 million design cost is the first step toward Phase Two of O'Hare modernization, which will cost another $5 billion on top of the $3.2 billion planned for Phase One. The city wants the second phase, which includes a runway extension and a new western terminal, to be done by 2014. The city says the total improvement plan will be around $15 billion. Opponents put the cost higher. Airport revenue bonds are funding much of Phase One.

Those citizens out there know what your making and the benefits you have that they don't, and yes they work different shifs also, pay the same taxes, send the kids to shitty schools, and when some read the shit on here, how can they respect you?
There is a tendency to put the West and Southside people in the same box for the troubles caused by the few,and they inturn put you into the same box for the few who fuck up.
If you think all those people are on welfare or lazy, you better look at the Trains and Buses, they are not just out looking at the scenery.
Another thing, once you lose the street, you'll pay hell to get it back, so in the end,you won the battle but lost the war.
GIVE YOURSELF A RAISE AND BE SAFE.

INFO FROM 35TH STREET.......
yes I admit it, I am an administrative "desk bitch" at 35th street. But before you make fun, I have 20 years on this job and I did do my time on the street (010, 011, SOG). Even though me eye sight is going it seems like my hearing is getting better. I know it doesn't seem like you working coppers who "stopped" working aren't getting under J-Fed's skin....but YOU ARE. So much that J-Fed has been holding "secret" meetings EVERY week since first week in July. I have recently seen "Big bird" and "inspector Brown" attend a few of these "secret meetings"
J-Fed is FUMING that police officer's have stopped producing...I have heard him screaming these word for word excerpts in the past few weeks from his office:

*"It's like they are all on strike! What can we do to make these people do there f*cking job"

*They don't want to work for me because I'm a federal agent then F*ck them all...I will fire EVERYONE on this god-damn department and bring on people that will work!

*(meeting with Inspector's) "These officer's don't want to work then I want you to start hammering the shit out of all of them district to district...they will get the picture then"

*"If I have to fire every last one of them before they get the picture ..then I will"

I think everyone is getting the picture...KEEP UP THE good...I MEAN NO WORK!! The plan IS working and I have seen it first hand. Now Daley is TRYING to fuck with us with this mandatory 3 day NO PAY bullshit....Believe me when Shitcago turns into the next Detroit and we DON'T get the Olympics...then we will have VICTORY. "NO WORK" does NOT mean not backing up fellow officer's so watch each others back and let the City burn.......and Daley and F-fed will be responsible!!!
.....and for you asshats that are still "PRODUCING" numbers and giving the city REVENUE you are total IDIOTS. And any TRU-TARD that is bringing in the "MANDATORY" (1) head a day are in my book a "puppet". They are making your elite Unit a "make -up" squad for numbers. TRU..(AKA: J-Feds little bitches, AKA: Daley's Cronies) But feeding your heads that you guys are the BEST and the next SOS...and the funny thing is your are believing that B.S.

The city could care less about us, our families and the job we do! They show us time and time again by sticking it in our ass every time our contract expires. They insult us with their offers and drag their feet when giving us a contract. This contract will be the worst one yet! They will take away more and give us even less. Whatever small raise we finally get will not even come close to the cost of living increases we have felt. Our FOP is in bed with the city and will not back us!

The city and leadership of this department keep asking us to do more with less. They keep expanding the mission and responsibilities but with less support, equipment and money. There is no trust or confidence in the bosses and their one-way numbers game. Don't go the extra mile anymore, it's not worth it. Just answer your calls and back each other up. Since they don't have our backs it's time to watch our own backs by limiting our contact with the public.

If it is true that the Olympic committee will not choose a city in negotiations with police/fire, then I say screw the city out of their beloved nomination and carry on negotiations for another 2yrs. That is what the city did to us the last time our contract expired anyway, right? Chicago does not deserve the Olympics anyway. This city is too corrupt, fiscally irresponsible, and treats it's police force like crap. It would be tragic to have some of the world's best athletes come here to be victimized by the savages. God knows they wouldn't get any justice here; all the courts and the reverends protect and foster their criminal behavior, meanwhile they scorn and condemn the police for doing their job!

Other than the first contract under Jayne Byrne the last contract was the quickest one to one settled. FOP asked for arbitration about Labor Day and the American Society of Arbitrators sent it back and said it was not long enough to be considered an impasse. About Feb. they appointed an arbitrator who first tried to negotiate the contract before he arbitrated it. The city considered the contract a loss because they wanted higher health care premiums. The union wanted eye care as part of the wellness plan that the city was forced to accept. We lost that one issue. Now the city wants to increase the wellness plan because it was found to cut over all costs if you can prevent a major surgery.

My partner is our unit rep and I know a kid across the alley who works for the city administration and both sides want to avoid arbitration because they each want what is called break thru issues. The city knows that they screwed up buy not settling wage issues right out of the box because the cost of living has gone up. None of the other unions especially the trade unions have really settled anything. They all agreed to accept what ever prevailing wages are in their trade for 10 years. We a still negotiating the health care costs for everyone. Not the premiums, but what the co-pays are and how large the deductibles are and what is covered and not covered. It is basically what the school teachers agreed to. So in a nut shell we again are negotiating for everyone in the city again. Most of what the city wants is related to discipline. If forced into arbitration we will do a little better than the city because most of what they want to change was things they wanted first and never let work like it was supposed to. Like the review process of beefs. It was their idea last contract and now they want to change it. They would lose that one. We want to lower the age on health care and make the deductibles and co-pays for retirees that same as if you are working. Win, lose, or draw if the city hopes to get the Olympics ( I still think S. America gets it) arbitration would be no quicker than trying to finish next summer on our own. Remember if we have no contract than no Olympics. We do informational picketing when they come here the last time. A fair contract or blue flu during the Olympics

7/30/2008 04:48:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

There is no way arbitration will be filed this early. The FOP will hold out as long as they can. The olympic committee wants us all under contract. Why try to settle it now? We need to keep "de-policing", and get what we can get while we watch the city crumble around us.

you know what we are gonna get ? were gonna get fucked and then were gonna get laid off and then when the city has less than 5000 coppers on the street
and everyone is holding there breath cause they hope that there not next they'll agree to nothing but no more layoffs and those who are still working at that time will be so happy to still have a job that they wont bitch even alittle bit

If he can prove the chity doesnt have the money (and by prove I mean fix the books to act like they dont) then the city doesnt have to pay us one cent of retro pay! Think about that one... No retro... Anyone ask FOP by the way, why they ask for the least amount in the first year if they know the first year is the biggest retro grabber? Just curious... I want a big retro check too! The federal arbitrator is appointed by the executive branch of the federal government. The person who would be appointed will be done so by 1 of 3 people, if done before January of next year, President Bush has the say so, if done after January, Obama or McCain will appoint the arbitrator, that is why the city will never agree to arbitration before January. Expect 2.5% minimum and 3.5% Max. with an increase in insurance co-pay and erosion of seniority perks. Expect more civilian REV appointees to be doing case reports at ARP, desk slots, and community policing. Distrcit managers sraffs will be expanded and community policing will hire the cease fire idiots as community liasons.

I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE ANY PAY, I HAVE BILLS, I HAVE TO BUY GAS TO DRIVE TO WORK. I HAVE TO BUY FOOD FOR MY FAMILY TO SURVIVE, AND PAY MORE FOR IT. I HAVE TO LIVE IN AN OVERTAXED CITY AND COUNTY RUN IN THE GROUND BY MORONS.

WORD TO THE MIGHTY MIDGET:
FIRE THE RELATIVES, GET RID OF THE USELESS ALDERCREATURES, AND STOP SELLING OFF CITY ASSETS. THERE'S ABOUT 500 MILLION OR MORE RIGHT THERE. THE CITY WOULD BE ROLLING IN MONEY.

HIS NEXT STEP IS TO RAISE PROPERTY TAXES BECAUSE OF THE POLICE WANTING A RAISE. OH GEE, LETS SEE, THE ALDERMEN VOTED THEMSELVES AND THE MAYOR A RAISE, THE TEACHERS GOT A GREAT CONTRACT FOR A PART TIME JOB, SUMMERS OFF, THE CTA JUST GOT A 3% PER YEAR RAISE, BUT FUCK THE POLICE AND FIREMEN. EVERYTIME IT COMES TO A RAISE FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE, IT'S THE SAME STORY, "WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY".

THE NEW POLICE RESPONSE IS GOING TO BE SORRY I CAN'T DO MY JOB EFFICIENTLY, IF I CAN'T TAKE CARE OF MY FAMILY IN THIS OVERTAXED CITY WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THE EXTRA MONEY I HAVE TO PAY OUT. I AM TOO STRESSED TO CHASE THE BAD GUYS. I CAN'T LIFT MY ARM TO WRITE TICKETS BECAUSE OF LACK OF FOOD. IF I DON'T GET A RAISE I HAVE TO FEED MY CHILDREN FIRST AND I WILL HAVE TO EAT THE SCRAPS OR A BOX OF CAKE MIX TO FILL UP.
I CAN BUY CAKE MIXES 2 FOR A DOLLAR. NO WONDER I AM GETTING FAT. THANK GOD FOR SOME OF THE DUNKIN DONUTS. AT LEAST I CAN GET A CUP OF COFFEE AND A DONUT TO EAT. I FEEL LIKE A FUCKING HOMELESS PERSON. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE A BUS TO WORK, UNLESS THEY START CHARGING ME, BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD GAS FOR MY CAR, SO I CAN TRY TO FIGHT CRIME.

NOTE TO MAYOR:
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY POLICE AND FIREMEN, YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE OLYMPICS. GIVE IT UP BUDDY. YOU HAVE KILLED THE MORAL OF ALL OF US. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING ASSHOLE!

Of all the issues surrounding the FOP and its elected representatives the one that should get one most upset are their salaries!! Which are paid out of our dues!! When you make ADS pay the pain of your members is the furthest from your mind. How about an amendment to the bylaws which lowers their salaries to that of whom they represent?

Da hole truff an nuttin but....

First of all arbitration is NOT always the answer> We got screwed by the arbi'traitor' last time. It's usually a flip of the coin. We take that chance usually when the City insults us to the degree where we'll say, "Screw it, enough already!" But, remember it's a coin toss.

Secondly, EVERY time we go for a contract da' mere cries poor mouth and usually mentions a property tax increase and blames the po-po. We've all seen it before.

Remember, it's a win-win for the City. Why should they EVER bargain with us in a timely manner. When/if they finally give us a raise, years have passed and they saved 'millions' in interest alone. It's good for government [Daley] bad for morale. Yeah, like he really cares about ther latter!

I personally think the Olympic idea is (now) in our best interest. While he still holds the cards, were still in the game. All the contracts need to be settled before the Olympic Committee will continue to consider Chicago as host.

So, my brothers and sisters, it's business as usual so let "US" hold out now for a while to see what shakes. The worst that can happen is.....business as usual.

Just my opinion.....STAY SAFE!!!!

"So to all of you with shit for brains:

Punishing the City by not producing any revenue may not be the most effective means of protest.

7/30/2008 07:17:00 AM"

That would depend upon what your definition of 'effective' is and what 'effects' are desired.

The ONLY way the pension will ever achieve solvency is when the thieves who've been pillaging our city and county coffers are removed from office.

And the only way that will ever happen is when enough citizens of this city and county become acutely aware of the fact that, if even the police are outraged at the shit that's going on, what the hell are the citizens waiting for?

REGISTER TO VOTE, VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION and NEVER VOTE FOR THE INCUMBENT DEMOCRATS.

Oh, and referring to this mythical personage of 'the City' just continues the fallacy that there is such a creature.

The City is us.

NOT the cocksuckers we've been foolish enough to reelect.

Those citizens out there know what your making and the benefits you have that they don't, and yes they work different shifs also, pay the same taxes, send the kids to shitty schools, and when some read the shit on here, how can they respect you?

**And those citizens don't put their lives on the line for strangers 8 hours a day 6 days a week only to be kicked in the teeth by those they served as well as their employer. Do they chance being sued & losing everything they've worked for every time someone "accuses" them of something. Those citizens cannot lose their jobs for off duty incidents like I can for claims of drinking too much off duty, having an argument with a spouse. Are their bosses required to respond to the scene of their accident to ensure they haven't been drinking? Are they dragged into court for claims of violating someone's civil rights while doing their jobs. So if they think they are the same as me, they are very wrong. If they don't respect me...so what!

I have a solution:) they want 3 to five unpaid furlough days, right? We agree and the whole department advertises that the entire Chicago Police Department is not operating for those five days. In other words, ALL POLICE OFFICERS DO NOT WORK ON THE SAME FIVE UNPAID FURLOUGH DAYS, AND ITS AIRED ON ALL NEWS CHANNELS. DALEY WOULD GET HIS WISH;). AND HE WILL NEVER ASK FOR THIS AGAIN !!!

The federal arbitrator is appointed by the executive branch of the federal government. The person who would be appointed will be done so by 1 of 3 people, if done before January of next year, President Bush has the say so, if done after January, Obama or McCain will appoint the arbitrator

Be prepared for a long, hard battle boys and girls! These people are pros and FOP will be on the sidelines drinking beer and eating "sammiches!" Daley is playing the "we're broke" card!

Remember if we have no contract than no Olympics. We do informational picketing when they come here the last time. A fair contract or blue flu during the Olympics

7/30/2008 04:48:00 PM

________________________________

Great rumor, but what's the actual source of this commonly held belief the Olympics committee demands all city union contracts be settled before they commit to us?

Another great rumor I'd like to see source material for: the comment that CPS has one guy who only handles funerals for CPS students at over a hundred thousand a year and that CPS pays for all the funerals with taxpayer money.

I've burned my search engine out looking for solid sources on both. As far as I can see, the CPS 'interfaith director' has a bunch of jobs besides contacting next of kin of the kid and I can't find anything saying CPS pays for funerals (actually found lots of stories talking about the cost to families, though).

And the only sources on union contracts being mandatory for the Olympic bid (and, no, I don't want the Olympics here, either) are speculative and rumor-filled.

Hard as it may be to believe, the Internet is not the only source for information.

In fact, most of the really incriminating data is buried, far from the eyes of those most interested in exposing it to the light of day.

But you know that, don't you?
