Dogged Detective Work
- A second teenage girl has been charged with throwing acid in the face of a 48-year-old woman during a street robbery in the Logan Square neighborhood last month.
The girl, 15, was arrested Wednesday in Cicero and was cited in a juvenile petition with armed robbery and heinous battery. She is being held at a juvenile detention facility awaiting a hearing, Chicago police said.
Her name was not being released because she is a juvenile, but police said she and the other charged teen could be charged as adults.

Speaking of Dogs, my mom's house was burglarized. The beat cop and the E.T. treated my mom with utmost courtesy and respect. They did not know at the time I was the police. The Dt. from A/5 called her for his follow up and told her if she finds out anything to give him a call. I thought you were the Detective...Dick!

Funny, and every time I get stopped for traffic offenses, which are the only offenses I've ever been cited for, the charges stick like no one's business. If throwing acid in people's faces got me to work faster, maybe I'd try that instead!

It was just a matter of tracking her down, and getting her ass back to Chicago. She obviously gave up the others. I'm not saying it wasn't a good arrest, but it happened due to VIDEO, and someone recognizing an offender. My best guess is, we're not being told the whole story here, and there is likely some sort of battle going on over 2 or more chicks doing some serious "man sharing."
Don't knock the Det. who called your Mom and asked her to reach out if she hears anything. Many times, neighbors who actually did see something will come foreward later, and tell the victim if they saw something, and WHO they saw.
If your Mom hears a clue and relays it to the Det, it saves the Det a lot of time (and we all know that very few Dets have the time to actually go out and beat the bushes on the numerous burglaries that occur in this city). So don't act like the Det. was being lazy, your Mom could come up with THE clue that may solve her own burglary, and that's what you want to see happen, right?

The real credit should go to the CBS 2 camera man who found this building with the video. He was at the scene talked to the custodian and the custodian showed him the tape in the office. Cameraman notified 014th Dist. and thanks to NR on desk the info. was passed on. A/5 desk almost fucked this up. They know. Thanks goes out to Cicero PD and CBS 2 camera man.

Only 15 and 16 year olds are eligible for automatic upgrades.
I believe Murder, Agg CSA, Armed Robbery-Firearm, Att. Murder-Firearm, and Agg Batt -firearm are the only charges with automatic upgrades.
Therefore, more savage juveniles will escape punishment for a horrific crime.

Well the point is that everyone is congratulating the Dets. That's fine, but the congrats should be spread around to more than just the detectives.
I work in Area 5 also and the Dets you mentioned seem to be good guys, and girl ... and I am sure it was not them who were patting themselves on the back.
The truth is every case is made by some "break," whether the Detectives beat the bushes to get that break or whether someone else did. The detectives worked hard and completed the case, yes, but they did not do anything magical by any stretch of the imagination.
Even "ground balls" take huge amounts of time and work to complete correctly.
I sometimes wonder why patrolmen have so much angst against the detective division. I have been a homicide detective for six years and I have never had a bad experience with a patrolman or treated them like shit. My partner and I work very hard and go out of our way to help any cop who needs it. We have handled numerous police shootings and have given credit to the patrolman who have helped us clear a case. I remember when I was a tact guy for fifteen years before I made detective and both my partner and I go out of way to make sure good police work by the cops on the street is not squandered. It's rare that an investigation comes to a successful conclusion with just the detectives doing the investigation. WE appreciate the work done by the officers on the street and their knowledge of the gang bangers in their district. Without them our job would be much more difficult. So let's stop with this constant bitching at each other. We're in this together. BE SAFE OUT THERE!!!
Keep fighting amongst yourselves, children, while daddy daley continues getting away with defrauding the taxpayers.
