The Department is planning to roll out changes to the Field Training Program beginning 09 October 08. Full details should be released by the Department early next week.
Here is a brief synopsis of the planned changes.
Field Training Districts will be limited to: 004, 006, 008, 010, 024, 025.
FTOs who are not currently assigned to one of these districts will have two opportunities to bid into one of these training districts. FTOs who are currently assigned to one of these training districts do not need to bid unless they are seeking assignment to one of the other districts.
FTOs who choose not to participate in the program will revert to D-1 status and remain in the district that they are currently assigned to.
I have a nephew working there? I really didn't know it.... But it's not because he works there that they will make MILLIONS.....

This is what happens when the city doesn't hire any recruits. They don't want to pay FTO's extra money if they are no recruits. This thing will last between a year and a year and a half. Once the hiring freeze is lifted the training districts will go back to normal. Look at the districts not included, 007, 011 and 015. They have to include 007 and 011. The last two periods there have been openings in each and NOBODY has bid for them because they are crap districts. They need recruits there or they will be undermanned. And recruits need to be there to learn how to be the police. Imagine at the end of the PPO cycle when the department ships all the PPOs from 024 to the ghetto. It will be a year and a half wasted. They will be crappin their pants. 024 vs. 007. Ha.

The 'program' such as it is needs to be scrapped. All the current FTO's stripped of their titles. Create a legit program (ha ha ha) and offer some true incentive to become an FTO. Maybe then you would get more qualified trainers.
Right now? You have 2% that actually give a fuck about the job they are tasked with. The other 98% only do it because they are such fuck-ups no one else will work with them and they can bully the recruits, teach them next to nothing or worse - teach them incorrectly and the rest of the watch has to undo the damages done once they are finally off their cycles.

Since Eddie Acevedo has been in the Illinois House of Representatives for the pas 13 years and is also drawing a salary as a Chicago Police Officer, I am curious as the what district he is assigned to? How many arrest has he made in the past 13 years? How many hours has he put in a beat car? I must wonder if he meets the city's residency requirement rules.
I am sure his 65k salary could be put to a much better use by hiring a police officer who will actually do the job of protecting the people and locking up the animals. But Eddie will continue to do King Rich's bidding so he will continue to collect his unearned city salary.
