Two Sheriff Deputies Shot - One Fatally - Suspect still on the loose
North Carolina police launched an all-out search Sunday for a man suspected of shooting two sheriff's deputies — killing one — on Friday night.
Larry Wayne Brucke, 32, who also goes by the name Skip Brinkley, allegedly opened fire on deputies responding to a 911 hang-up call from a home in Lenoir, N.C., around 9:40 p.m. Friday, local news outlets report.
Brucke shot the first deputy to arrive, Adam William Klutz, 24, and the second, Lt. Chris Martin, as they exited their patrol cars, according to WRAL.com.
Officials searching for the suspect said they believed he had worked as a law officer in South Carolina and served in the U.S. Army in Iraq.
Authorities told FOXNews.com that more than 200 officers and state and federal agencies were involved in the search for Brinkley.

SEATTLE — A traffic stop in the woods led to the shooting death of a U.S. Forest Service officer, a shootout in which a fugitive was killed and the discovery of a third gunshot victim at the home of the owner of a pickup truck he was driving, the Washington State Patrol said.
The FBI was investigating the shooting of USFS Officer Kristine Fairbanks, 51, a certified canine officer with 15 years in the forest service, and the other shootings in the Sequim area were being investigated by the patrol and Clallam County sheriff's deputies, state Trooper Krista D. Hedstrom told The Associated Press early Sunday.
Very sad news this weekend.

Eddie was a good cop.Rest In Peace.
Eddie was originally from the 13th District and was probably one of the nicest, most fun loving guys with eyes like giant pools that could melt your heart. Again, this tragedy reminds us not to take anything or anyone for granted because we never know when the big guy upstairs says it's time to come home. Rest in peace Eddie and one day we'll all be there with you!
God Bless

I had the honor of meeting Eddie this summer and hanging out with him a few times. I am priveleged to be able to call him my friend. He was the kind of guy where in the first five minutes of talking to him you felt like you knew him your entire life. I wish I had. His warm fun-loving personality and smile would light up the room. God bless his family and friends. Eddie, you will be truly missed be all.

Can u post this comment?
I am wondering what kind of bike he was riding because there is a big issue with certain model Harley's.
Again does anyone know what kind of bike he was riding.
May GOD take you home. RIP
I've read all (42) posts and TOTALLY agree.... 100% with all the adoration given! We worked in 013 together about 8 years ago and would go out socially. After I left I would see him on occassion and can truely say Eddie was a GENUINE person his mere presence could elevate your mood. We weren't tight but I wouldn't hesitate to call him a friend. I'm on furlough and saw a comment on an unrelated post yesterday. I waited not believing it was the Eddie Massas I knew, and sure enough the the first comment that mentioned where he worked brought me to tears! I can picture those EYES and that awe inspiring SMILE of your's ! I feel honored to have known you, GOD SPEED my friend ! MY deepest sympathies and PRAYERS go out to his FAMILY, TRU and his best friend/partner JAIME......... You'll be missed BROTHER!
Eddie, may God bless you and your loved ones during this time of sorrow. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, your family and your team. Rest in peace brother and watch over us from heaven. It was an absolute pleasure to know you. You will truly be missed by all who knew you.

For all of you motorcyle riders out there (myself included), be very dilligent when on your bike. Not everyone sees us and for those that do, some treat us just like another car or don't give a damn.
My condolences to PO Massas' family, friends and all those who worked with and spoke so highly of him. Godspeed.....
Eddie was a great guy Rip!
Thanks Peer support! We appreciate everything you have been doing!
RIP Eddie you will be missed by all those who crossed paths with you in life.
Dear soul of CPD Officer Edward Massas, may God grant you eternal rest. Please stand guard over your family here on earth including your CPD family.
Brothers/Sisters in Blue, the next time you encounter an officer from a nomadic unit such as TRU, SWAT, VICE, etc...smile, give them a kind word/a helping hand, welcome them in your district.
TOO MANY CPD souls have passed this year reminding us of our brief stay on earth, but also that God reminds us 'that we will not know the hour nor the day, but death will come like a thief in the night.' CPD IS A FAMILY FOR US, DEFINED BY US.
Love & peace to all.
I met him just recently, ironically at the wake for Officer Francis. He struck me a guy you'd want for your partner. Guess he has a new one walking that beat in heaven with him now.
If anyone has wake or funeral info please post!
Eddie, God Bless You Sir.
