Are you ready for this, RON MAJORS (SP?) had to walk across the room and ask these ignorant assholes to be quiet out of respect. Not only are we insignificant to this pig, but so are our fallen brothers and sisters. Nice huh?

Did Channel 7's Ron Majors find it necessary to caution Weis and his buddies about the solemnity of the candlelight vigil because they were laughing and whooping it up?
I called the Roe Conn radio show on WLS 890 promptly at 1400 hours today, Friday, 19 SEP 08, because, in the absence of Jim Johnson, Ron Majors was filling in as the news commentator for the first two hours.
I explained my query, but the producer did not want to take the call, stating that there was no plan to talk about the incident. I then e-mailed Roe Conn and his producer about the incident and stated the need for CPD officers to know if the rumor was true or not. I received no response, as of yet.
I turned off the radio in disgust and do not know if the incident was ever discussed.
Ron, Roe, and that pussy producer, listen up. If you haven't already, tell us the truth. True or not? Ron, if you had the balls to take on Weis, have the balls to tell us the truth. We already know Weis is no good, but we need to know if you believed that he was dishonoring our honorable fallen, and told him so. If he did, he has truly broken the camel's back.
J-FED, take off the uniform you did not earn and do not deserve.

A letter to the editors of the Times and Trib should be written on behalf of SCC.
I have been to way to police funerals and always see cops laughing and joking, the same goes for brutal crime scenes. It is definitely inappropriate, but this is the way WE deal with grief. It is not meant as disrespectful but it does appear that way.
Of course weis is not one of US and has no right to grieve the way a CPD officer does.
My point being remember yourself the next time you are involved in a somber scene, there is always someone who will be offended by your actions, so if you don't want it at your time of grieving have the same courtesy not to do it at theirs.

Being present in the United Club in Soldier Field before the vigil, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation was presenting a video showing how they help officers and their families in need. Most of the people in the room were quiet, but the group in question (J-Fed) was in the back off to the left of the podium talking and laughing. Ron Majors did indeed leave the podium and ask them to keep it down, which they finally did.
A total disgrace to myself as a Chicago Police Officer and our Police Department. My wife, who was also in attendance (Not a Police Officer) who usually does not speak badly of anybody, after seeing these actions first hand finally agreed with me that this guy is a total stroke!!!

That is not a position that can suffer someone in an extended period of on-the-job-training. You must know the time of day and be able to handle the job from Day 1. And you need to know the difference between the north side and south side.
At first I thought that J-Fed might be upset at the ever increasing violent crime in the city and the ever decreasing "productivity" of the officers.
But the more and more I hear, J-Fed is just laughing his way to the bank. He totally enjoys the daily ass kissing from the Kool-Aid drinking regulars and the caravan of body guards that follows his out-of-state licensed SUV. I personally witnessed J-Fed in this vehicle and he had a unmarked SUV in front and back of his SUV. The two surrounding SUV's had what appeared to be SWAT guys all decked out including long guns. Then there was a marked car in the front of the three SUV's with the beat tag "LEAD" and a marked squad car behind the SUV's marked "TAIL". Is the crime so bad in this city that the police supt. needs two SWAT filled SUV's and two marked cars? I laughed as it drove past me.
J-Fed is joke to the officers of this job and it doesn't surprise me one bit that he would find people kissing his ass at a memorial more important than to paying attention to the memorial at hand. Remember, J-Fed never worked as partners or along side a fallen cop or a cop who has been so badly shot up or inured that he never returned to the job that officer loved coming to.
With his federal pension and the city paycheck, J-Fed is making about $400,000.00 a year. That is exactly what the US President is paid a year. J-Fed enjoys a nice expense account, department take home vehicles (so he saves on vehicle insurance, gasoline and maintenance), his moving expenses as well as his temporary residence was also paid by the city and all the perks and free gifts a big city supt. receives…. In total were are talking probably about $500,000.00 a year with these added bonuses.
He will either finish out his three years or maybe be let go before that. But either way the city has to pay him his salary for the full three years unless convicted of a crime. Most likely he will publish a book after he leaves (written by a ghost author) and make a few million off that.
And I bet you my yearly salary that once he is done with CPD, J-Fed will move far away from the city and still be laughing his ass off.

Everyone call in to the Roe Conn show on Monday and ask Ron to speak on this! He usually comes on Roe's show daily sometime between 1500-1630rs and stays for anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour.

Ron Majors has always been a very nice man. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times over the years and he was always completely professional unlike many others in both his job and ours. I will always remember him walking up to me on Michigan Ave one day and simply saying "thank you" for something I had considerded insignificant earlier that day. He had seen me running down Michigan in respones to a hold up alarm at a jewelry store. Apparently, we were pretty much pushing people out of the way trying to get there on foot as no traffic would have been able to get through. He saw the efforts we made and later in the day walked up to me on the street and voiced his appreciation. It is the little things like this that earned him my respect.
They should cover this story on the news as a very good reason why morale might be down the tubes!!

I was there in the stadium club that night and as i was standing at attention after playing a few tunes for the families and supporters of goldstar, R.M. played the Video of "what WILL we do for them" i did hear the sound of laughter and talking behind me and it was only after something was said by RM did it finally get quiet and respect was soon to the familes gathered there. so from LIFM "show some fucking respect"

Watched the coverage by WGN Thursday night at 9pm of the memorial service. Excerpt of Weis's "speech" was pathetic! Sounded mechanical with lack of all emotion whatsoever. What a shame these families couldn't have been addressed by someone who was truly appreciative of the sacrifice's their loved ones had made, with the empathy they deserved.
Everyone needs to check out the commentator's remarks at the end! Can't help but wonder where all of this "insignificant" information regarding low police morale is coming from!!!

Poor planning had a large group spread out so that 6 televisions were required for all to view the presentation. 3 of these, including the one directly in front of J-Fed, were not working. The "group of friends" J-Fed was talking were donors to the Memorial Fund who wanted to meet the new supe. Ron Majors walked over as many on our side of the room had no idea the video was even being played. Having said that, J-Fed has made horrific decision after horrific decision, surrounded himself with useless sycophants, and in general been a complete failure as a boss...but he was there to support the Memorial Foundation and did so in an honorable way. Let's stick to his real faults-there's plenty enough so we don't have to invent fake ones.

As a private citizen, that is very sad and disturbing to hear. I've always looked upon the police department as a military organization with all the honor and distinction that bestows. Have always felt that those drawn to put their lives on the line were a special breed of people who deserve my respect always and that the tradition of the police department is carried on through the weathered individuals who came up through the ranks and pass along their knowledge to the new officers coming on.
I hate Mayor Daley, J-Fed and every suckhole that has managed to rise to the top solely through their own sinister ambition and without a sense of obligation to contribute to or maintain the grandeur of the department.
It's truly a mess and in need of drastic change. Keep plugging away SCC. You have obviously moved onto the national stage and are shedding light into the corruption that is so unique to the City of Chicago.

I attended the vigil but not the pre event, Im not a gold star family member. It was kind of sad that not many of us (police officers) attended. Regardless what you think of the memorial we should try to pay our respect at all police memorials events.
federal people won't do anything unless they are told to do so. they will not take initiative. professional policeman make snap decisions all the time without asking permission first. that is the problem with j-fed. he is told how to do everything because he has no clue as to what goes on here and he has been given some bad advice. why would it be a suprise to anyone that he was grabassin with his buddies during ceremony. he has no link to anyone here. he has never worked a beat car, never written a ticket, never been hassled for activity by a treacherous boss, etc... having this turd come here was like putting the pope in charge of a strip club.

J-Fud ensured that his Contract had a clause that guarantees he's paid his salary in full whether he leaves tomorrow or stays until the expiation of his contract. He's a city contractor just like the landscape guys or concrete crews, should be viewed as accordingly.

I have been embarassed in so many situations by on and off-duty policeman, Det's, Sgts., and up. I personally was sitting in a restaurant next to a group of on-duty Det's. I had my wife, mother-in-law and small children. The loud conversation these a--h--- thought was comical, made me sick. No regard for the families sitting next to them. I had to literally move my family to another table to protect OUR police image in front of my children. Sad, but true. I could only imagine how many times, non-police families just shook their head Makes us all look like a bunch of animals.

Here is the complete story: J-Fed and his wife were quietly turned toward the direction of the video, which neither they nor the 100 or so exempts and donors standing behind them could hear. The club is a long narrow room, with not enough room for all to gather in front of the podium. Many people were talking-some out of ignorance to the fact a presentation was taking place, some elderly donors and family members because they coudn't hear what the presentation was, and some wondering out loud when they were going to turn the rest of the monitors on so everyone could see. The only people near J-Fed were people waiting to introduce themselves...Gold Star families and donors. No cronies.
The people who were present at the event were either Gold Star families, citizens who donated at least $5000 to the Memorial Fund, and sworn/civilian and retired members who were there to act as "ambassadors" to the non-police. Granted, some exempts seemed to be there for the express purpose to network and kiss ass, but most acted honorably. J-Fed talked to anyone that approached, and was respectful.
He may be a total failure as a boss, but he and his wife were respectful and friendly to the family members of fallen officers at the event. Poor logistical planning was the cause of Ron having to shoosh everyone.

I don't believe General Orders, Special orders and department notices are some huge secret. There's an order and a procedure that details what we're supposed to do in every law enforcement scenario.

You know, that last line really brought a tear to my eye. The reality is that in Cook County, it is almost impossible to be convicted of a crime. First you have to be caught. Then, weave your way through a corrupt, overburdened court system, who has judges who routinely throw out cases for amazing reasons...(after a DUI who blew a 0.132, a certain judge related that she "didn't believe that breathalyzers were a good indicator of guilt"). Or how about the judges who throw out dope pinches because only "one" of the "twenty" grams of suspect heroin came back positive for heroin. (They only test one at the state, and this judge needs "five" grams to give probable cause).
Unless of course, your a cop, off duty God forbid, then they will go after you with a vengeance.
Now be nice, go back to your cubicle, and surf some porn. You either a) are not a police officer, or b) are one of those few who didn't have to pass any tests in the academy, didn't pass any cycles on the street, and are still a cop (Yes, we have a few of those).

I don't really care to be a part of BS accusations and negative conversations, but I must simply say that this department has had its share of corrupt cops and those that do not follow the line. Can you please point out any profession who has not. Now, this is not justifying anyone's actions nor reactions, but the state of this department is ultimately dictated by its leader. This is a para-military organization that is led by a complete idiot who we cannot trust. He then places other idiots who, if you took a true poll of the officers, they totally agree that not a few, but ALL Deputy Superintendents were very poorly selected. All of our senior people who actually had some idea of the short and long term impact of daily decisions that are made are mostly all gone.
I don't have enough years to retire, though I have the age, but I have been blessed enough to find a job with a law firm who is willing to pay for my expertise. I will truly miss fighting the knuckle heads in 11, 3 and Housing, but I will not miss the fight this department will face for the next 20 plus years, dealing with the management team and the worst decisions in the history of CPD.
By the way, since you won't pay us even a descent raise, I will definitely hit your pockets Mr Mayor. The firm by the way oversees many cases involving the city. As you continue to shit on us and police the police, I think I will now help police those that surround you and lets see how long their pockets are.

Maybe you shouldn't take your kids to a bar to eat and you would not hear such language. People go to these places to be adults, not to mind your kids.
Try sitting in an office for 8 hours a day. Or in some cases unfortunately, a cell.
You know, that last line really brought a tear to my eye. The reality is that in Cook County, it is almost impossible to be convicted of a crime. First you have to be caught. Then, weave your way through a corrupt, overburdened court system, who has judges who routinely throw out cases for amazing reasons...(after a DUI who blew a 0.132, a certain judge related that she "didn't believe that breathalyzers were a good indicator of guilt"). Or how about the judges who throw out dope pinches because only "one" of the "twenty" grams of suspect heroin came back positive for heroin. (They only test one at the state, and this judge needs "five" grams to give probable cause).
Unless of course, your a cop, off duty God forbid, then they will go after you with a vengeance.
Now be nice, go back to your cubicle, and surf some porn. You either a) are not a police officer, or b) are one of those few who didn't have to pass any tests in the academy, didn't pass any cycles on the street, and are still a cop (Yes, we have a few of those).
I was going to try to be a little more pithy and sarcastic, but this individual really doesn't deserve any more effort...To you sir, or madam, you just don't get it...

This brought a tear to my eyes also reading a response so filled with truth that coppers on patrol see too often making us cynical, jaded...but also because the general public really are naive and decent thinking in simplistic terms...afterall, when you are calling 911 in the midst of a terrible uncontrollable crime occurring to 'YOU THE VICTIM' the police are the ones coming to your rescue when everyone else is heading the opposite direction time after time after time...
The thirst for the blood of a CPD officer to fall reminds you of the roman times when the public dictated the gladiator's demise.
If you have ever been a victim of any crime, you feel so violated, helpless at the time of the incident, but when the police arrive & say an offender is caught...to see the judicial system let the offender 'walk' with possibly a slap on his wrist..now you have been victimized twice.
with the present administration in place and the present public climate, the fact that there is no contract in place & disciplinary procedures are being totally ignored to appease the public...musical chairs have been played with all exempt positions eliminating all stability in leadership...officers with 20+ years can retire w/ a pension, but what of the young officer starting his career with possibly a family to boot; can he/she afford to secondguess their decisions on the street with NO sure backing from their leaders?

I called the Roe Conn radio show on WLS 890 promptly at 1400 hours today, Friday, 19 SEP 08, because, in the absence of Jim Johnson, Ron Majors was filling in as the news commentator for the first two hours.
I explained my query, but the producer did not want to take the call, stating that there was no plan to talk about the incident. I then e-mailed Roe Conn and his producer about the incident and stated the need for CPD officers to know if the rumor was true or not. I received no response, as of yet.
I turned off the radio in disgust and do not know if the incident was ever discussed.
Ron, Roe, and that pussy producer, listen up. If you haven't already, tell us the truth. True or not? Ron, if you had the balls to take on Weis, have the balls to tell us the truth. We already know Weis is no good, but we need to know if you believed that he was dishonoring our honorable fallen, and told him so. If he did, he has truly broken the camel's back.

His producer is a kid name Todd Roskowski (as close as I can figure) who chooses to ignore any comments that are any way critical of J-Fed. However, this tool of a producer always seems to find time to have some mope named Clyde the totally ignorant, illiterate, mumble mouth black gardener, have his say on every issue. Listening to the man speak I'd be surprised if he finished grammar school. Typical "pookie" who somehow manages to be able to have his views aired while we are not. I really enjoyed Roe in the past but I can't bring myself to listen anymore.

I have been to way to police funerals and always see cops laughing and joking, the same goes for brutal crime scenes. It is definitely inappropriate, but this is the way WE deal with grief. It is not meant as disrespectful but it does appear that way.
Of course weis is not one of US and has no right to grieve the way a CPD officer does.
My point being remember yourself the next time you are involved in a somber scene, there is always someone who will be offended by your actions, so if you don't want it at your time of grieving have the same courtesy not to do it at theirs.

Having spent 35 years of my life as a member of the CPD I find their a ctions offensive. I worked the streets in the late 60's and 70's when we went to more Honor's Funerals then I can remember. Those of us who haved talked the talk and walked the walk choose to use humor to ease the pain. These men have done neither. They should have remained in as somber and solemn mindset through the entire event. Are they that stupid, or just plain arrogant, enough to think their actions would go unnoticed? More likely a combination of the two.
Stay Safe - do yourselves a favor. Push for the reinstituion of the watch 28 day rotation system. That is what held this Department together through many a difficult time. Hard on the body but great for the soul.

The Gang Lt. from 006 rocks. So what if he might have cussed a little. We all would if we were fighting with those honor students in 006 while trying to fend off a pit bull. So if you can't handle swearing from someone asking for assistance from their own teams over the radio, then find another line of work. That Lt. will go through a wall for his workers, and if your a pooch, watch out. Leave the tact team if your feelings were hurt. As for TRU, half are good hard working coppers, the other half are strokes, the latter of which I think the poster falls into.
