SPEAKING OF INSIGNIFICANT

SCC: I HOPE YOU ARE SITTING DOWN!

During the Police Memorial Vigil, J-Fuck, his ugly ol' lady and all of his FED buddies were in the back of the room talking and laughing. Are you ready for this, RON MAJORS (SP?) had to walk across the room and ask these ignorant assholes to be quiet out of respect. Not only are we insignificant to this pig, but so are our fallen brothers and sisters. Nice huh?

copied from another post, may every officer who is able to attend, BE THERE, I WILL!

Another slap in the face to the rank and file of the CPD. Remember, this could be any one of us at anytime. Jim Mullins and Officer Airhardt (sic). This is the capstone of disrespect to all of us.

You are driving your beat car and respond to a disturbance call at 836 N. Hamlin in the alley. You exit the car and are gunned down, hit with a volley of gunfire that leaves you hanging on for life. You survive the initial fatal encounter only to have to learn how to do everything a five year old can do, with incredible difficulty after months of intensive physical therapy. You barely etch out an existence on the meager disability you are paid for your service to the City of Chicago and then the initial incident takes your life after a good hard fight.

In my book this is another huge slap in our face and another huge INJUSTICE. When will it stop???

Officers,

If you can not attend the serivces send a sympathy card or Mass card. This is totally wrong and we must honor our own when our city won't.

If a Marine, Sailor, Airman or a Soldier was shot and subsequently perished the military would take care of them, a full honors service would be rendered. How low can they go by denying this Officer his due Honor???

Once again, where oh where is the Chicago media at? Does this need to hit the national media???

Obama's hometown is looking like shit these days, isn't it???

Typical of the City of Chicago to not acknowledge the truth.

The Chicago Police Memorial still lists Casper Lauer as the first officer killed in the line of duty and refuses to acknowledge that Constable James Quinn was the first officer killed in the line of duty or to add his name to the Chicago Police Memorial.

I refuse to contribute a penny to this farce due to this and Phil Cline's exorbitant salary. I apologize to any families with relatives killed int he line of duty but if your relative was deprived of being on the all and deprived of the truth, being the first killed in the line of duty you would think much differently.

Speaking of which, where is your indignation at this INJUSTICE???

This officer essentially gave his life in the line of duty, shot multiple times and died due to it and no HONOR FUNERAL???

SCC you are the "voice of the former working coppers," not an honors funeral? Why? again another slap at "us"! When will the madness end? If j-fed had balls he would have daley indicted immediately and then go back to philly and the city could move forward, find daleys stash of billions and billions and hire more coppers and buy more equipment! Maybe then we could even get a decent contract! Or any contract! Where is FOP on the honors funeral? Hello mark put the booze down asshole!

How sad is this ? We MUST show this BROTHER OFFICE, His Family, Citizens of Chicago, and the powers that be that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Please try to stop by or at least send a condolence card to the family letting them know that we do remember. I plan on calling City Hall, My Alderman, Blagos office and voicing my displeasure over this and will have all my family do the same.

KMA 3 to go

The M.E. was unable to determine cause of death. Can't automatically assume this officer passed away because of his injuries. Many officers have been injured on this job. Can't give everyone who passes away an honors funeral. Thomas - great guy- should not have received one by the way.
If the M.E. determines that he died because of complications due to his injuries (which may take a while)then by all means, he deserves an honors funeral. But how long do we wait for a determination? Families have to move on.

Do we know if the family declined a full honors funeral or if the City didn't offer one? The answer to that question is critical and should color our responses here.

I have already told my family the only way I would want an honors funeral is if 1) My family, friends and co-workers sat up front, and the brass could sit BEHIND them, and 2) the Mayor and Superintendent were not permitted to speak, in any capacity.

I apologize for the caps. I typed it that way so I can read tomorrow w/o bifocals.

EULOGY FOR MICHAEL ROBBINS

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE WHO COME INTO OUR WORLD AND TOUCH OUR LIVES DRAMATICALLY. SOME OF THE PEOPLE WE MEET ARE JUST FLICKERS OF LIGHT DURING A LONG LIFE. WHILE OTHERS LIKE MICHAEL ARE CONSISTENT GLOWS OF LIGHT FOR YEARS. FOR ME, MICHAEL WAS MY GLOW OF INSPIRATION AND PASSION TO HELP DISABLED POLICE OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HE WAS A FRIEND FOR OVER 10 YEARS.

MICHAEL AND I MET AFTER HE WAS PLACED ON DUTY DISABILITY. I REMEMBER HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT TWO OFFICERS BEING AMBUSHED AND SHOT ON SEPT 10, 1994 AND FELT SADDEN NOT EVEN KNOWING THOSE OFFICERS AT THAT TIME, BECAUSE THEY WERE OUR POLICE FAMILY.

MICHAEL'S LIFE WAS SPARED AFTER BEING SHOT 11 TIMES. HIS WORK WAS NOT YET DONE. AGAIN, GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. AFTER WE MET, WE HIT IT OFF IMMEDIATLEY. WE HAD THE SAME PASSION AND GOALS AND I WAS PROUD TO CALL HIM MY BROTHER.

MICHAEL ALSO BECAME AN ADVOCATE AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE AND WORKED AND VOLUNTEERD COUNTLESS HOURS COMFORTING FAMILIES OF VICTIMS OF GUN VIOLENCE.

MICHAEL ALSO WORKED ALONG SIDE ME AS VICE PRESIDENT OF DCPOA. WE WORKED EFFORTLSY IN CHANGING THE ANTIQUATED PENSION LAWS FOR DISABLED POLICE OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE SUCCEDED AND WENT ON OUR SEPERATE WAYS, JUST KEEPING IN TOUCH FROM TIME TO TIME.

I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THERE ARE ONLY A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE WALKED INTO MY LIFE AND CHANGED IT FOREVER. MIKE IS ONE OF THOSE FEW AND I WOULDNT MISS THIS MOMENT TO HONOR AND TELL HIM SO.

MICHAEL TAUGHT ME THAT LIFE IS SHORT AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF LIFE IS THE PEOPLE IN IT. I AM GRATEFUL FOR HIS WORDS OF WISDOM AND ON GOING FRIENDSHIP.

TO HIS FAMILY, MICHAEL, MICHELLE, MICHAEL AND LAWRENCE, I KNOW YOUR FATHER LOVED YOU ALL VERY MUCH. HIS EYES WOULD SPARKLE WHEN HE SPOKE OF YOU. HIS SMILE AND LAUGHTER ALONG WITH ALL YOUR FOND MEMORIES WILL BE IN YOUR HEARTS FOREVER.

MICHAEL, I LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU. I AM HONORED TO SAY TODAY, TO HAVE KNOWN YOU. YOU HAVE GRACED MY LIFE WITH YOUR PRESENCE MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW.

GOD BLESS YOU

Mike was a good guy. I would like to know if his death was a result of the shooting. As I recall he was shot multiple times. It would be hard to believe that it did not contribute greatly to his early death, but it would be nice to know for sure. If the shooting did cause his early passing, he should have all honors. Something special should be done by CPD anyway as the shooting changed his life forever. God bless him and his fanily.

The Dept honored 1st Deputy John Thomas with an honors funeral after he died in his home.

I wasnt there, but I can picture him in his bathrobe wearing his pajamas and house slippers drinking coffee, reading the paper,or watching The Price Is Right when his time came

The powers that be, stated that due to a telephone call he received earlier about from the Superintendant about some police business, the resulting heart attack was duty related.

On top of that the Pension "trustees" all voted to award Mrs Thomas the "Line of Duty" Pension which is more than twice what she'd get if the 1st Deputy's demise was ruled an ordinary death.

I wont bore you with the details about how unfair this is. Or how pissed off I am about the injustice here.

Im sure you boys and girls are smart enough to figure that out on your own

At least the last 1st deputy that was awarded the line of duty honors was shot to death.

This brings me to the outrage about Officer Robbins. I didnt know him but I can tell you that the evening he was shot, he did more police work than I did in a career

Though Im not a doctor there is little doubt in my mind that his recent death was premature and was due to complications of organ failure due to wounds suffered on the night that he and Officer Jackson were shot and almost killed

May you rest in Peace Officer Robbins

I have heard that there is only one salaried staff member of the Memorial Fund

She is the wife of a CPD Sgt who helped start it. She puts in about 6 hrs a day 5 days a week and makes about $12/hr

Im fairly certain that Phat Phil does whatever he does for gratis

It really shouldn't matter what the ME's ultimate finding is. The initial findings were inconclusive and as a result the facts should favor Mike's having died as the ultimate result of his injuries. He should have been accorded an honors funeral or at least some recognition by the department as someone who sacrified a significant portion of his life to this department.

I don't know for sure but I doubt very much that Mike's family turned down an honors funeral given that by all appearances, they barely had the funds available to bury him. There was no wake and no repast, just a memorial service and the placement of his ashes. The dept. didn't even both to acknowledge his passing on its own website.

I hope this wasn't a racial thing seeing all that was done for Jim Mullens. I'm not sure what Airhardt's current status is but I can't imagine that he won't be accorded an honors funderal when he dies. Few people have been shot as much as Mike and survived but because he survived both he and his family are denied the benefits to which they would have been entitled.

Shame on us, shame on this department!!
