First thing this morning when the clock radio goes off, we hear WBBM 780 reporting on a story pointed out to us almost four days ago. Then we go to the Tribune website and find they are reporting the same thing.
- An off-duty Chicago police officer who had just finished eating breakfast Saturday morning at a pancake restaurant near Provo, Utah, may have saved the life of a man who was attacked in the parking lot by a mentally ill man wielding fabric scissors, police said.
For a second, we thought we were stuck in Groundhog Day. Still, an excellent job by the off duty copper and Utah has been nothing but gracious and appreciative of his efforts according to all reports.

This PO should receive recognition from the CPD for going above and beyone the call of duty.
What a political conundrum that presents, I hope the Utah PD does it for him.

I heard J-Fart called the FBI and demanded an investigation. Wants to see if the ODPO can be charged.
Utah should award this HERO.......the best award would be a lateral transfer to a state that gets it!!!
Will the dept. pay for his expenses/air travel/hotel to make his court appearances? They should, but likely won't!
Great job the copper did good in a state that respects the police if it happened here what would of been the outcome? rev meeks and his fake church crew would of been bitching, the mayor would of been telling j-fed to suspend the coppers, the media would of been talking to pookie and his crew!

He won't receive any recognition from the dept because of who he was there with. (JK III) This pos dept, and broom Hilda D. Kirby hate JK III. He represents everything that they are not. He is the real police, not some pos political hack. One day the truth will be told and nobody will be surprised.
Hey coppers and their civilian family members.Utah allows NON-RESIDENTS to obtain CCW licenses.These are good in 31+ states.
Maybe Utah will offer him a real job and open it up for some more of Chicago's Finest.
funny I havent observed one story on the local media regarding an off duty act of heroism! And being that this off duty incident saved a life and was witnessed by many this act seems much more influential than the tony abatte act... so why is it not all over the local media? Thats right, the media is fair and unbiased, right sarah palin? what a joke
Just this past weekend Sgt. Bill Whalen interrupted a stabbing (the vicimin was stabbed numerous time)on the street in Park Ridge saving the victims life and capturing the offender. Bill was off duty with his wife and teenage son in tow but still showed himself to be one of Chicago's finest. Way to go Bill
How come the papers never talk about things like this

They are complete assh@%&s if they punish V.J. because he was out there teaching classes with J.K.
Regardless of what the dept. thinks of J.K., they were out there doing something good, teaching other coppers how to shoot. V.J. seen something bad happening and took action - regardless of what he was doing out there.
That's our job, that's what we do. I would have expected nothing less from V.J. or J.K. Both of you guys are stand up coppers! Good job you guys. And keep up the great training.
Good luck with your fight against the dept J.K. Stay strong, it's almost over. You're gonna come out on top of this one like a champ! Looking forward to seeing you back on the street - where you belong!
