Global Warming?

  • ...records of past climate changes suggest an altogether different scenario for the 21st century. Rather than drastic global warming at a rate of 0.5 ° C (1° F) per decade, historic records of past natural cycles suggest global cooling for the first several decades of the 21st century to about 2030, followed by global warming from about 2030 to about 2060, and renewed global cooling from 2060 to 2090 (Easterbrook, D.J., 2005, 2006a, b, 2007, 2008a, b); Easterbrook and Kovanen, 2000, 2001). Climatic fluctuations over the past several hundred years suggest ~30 year climatic cycles of global warming and cooling, on a general rising trend from the Little Ice Age.
We still remember the "global cooling" and "new Ice Age" scares of the 1970s (which follows perfectly with the above mentioned 30 year cycles.) That might not be enough to stop the Gore-icle from pressing forward with his plan to completely bankrupt the electrical industry by pouring money into "alternative" sources of energy rather than going nuclear as most of Europe and Japan have done. It's amazing that of everything the democrats admire about Europe (universal health care, confiscatory tax rates of 60%, etc.) they've never seemed to notice European reliance on the atom.

Great post, SCC.

"Nobel Prize Winner" Gore, and his drones, are in the position of defending the indefensible: namely, that our meteorologists can hardly predict when a tornado is going to touch down, let alone a cyclical 200 year cooling/warming system.

On the face of it, it would appear that the Global Warming hysteria has taken the place of a spiritual base in our society. With so many people turned off by the mainstream religions, they're turning to Eco-extremism to give their lives some meaning.

Meanwhile, the Global-warming crowd is using the phenomenon to etch away at our individual rights. Thanks to Obama and the other Leftists-with-nowhere-to-go, You're now going to be required to use specific low-wattage, eco-friendly bulbs, a lower "carbon footprint" and lower your carbohydrate intake.

The Global warming hoax is being used to infiltrate and eliminate our basic constitutional rights. In Great Britain, the government is using their environmental laws (1,400 of them!) as a pretense for kicking in your door. Do you want that type of government here???? Sadly, with Obama we may get just that!

God help us!

SCC, from what I learned in my college science day’s global warming/cooling is largely due to Milankovitch cycles.
Look it up please because "Granola-nuts" Al Gore forgot to mention this earthen axial quirk.

The Center for Research on Globalization is, according to its website, "an independent research and media group of writers, scholars, journalists and activists" and "acts as a think tank on crucial international and geopolitical issues".[1] According to the website's old about page, the organization is "committed to curbing the tide of 'globalisation' and 'disarming' the New World Order" and seeks "to unveil the workings of the New World Order".[2]. Jonathan Kuhn's book "Fist in Your Face" has a lot of insight into the research of this Kuhnsian Theory.

Sounds kind of cranky...

I don't see using specific low-wattage bulbs as a major sacrifice. Lower energy usage leads us to lower energy demands, which will reduce our dependance on foreign sources.

Now, you will say, that coal and other sources are used for electricity production, which are produced here. This is correct, but all energy sources contribute to the total energy usage balance.

Using power generated by coal, for example, could be used to generate electricity for cars instead of high-wattage bulbs. Therefore, less oil is needed for cars.

Basically, your arguement is fine, other than the stupidity about use of low-wattage bulbs.

They are part of the solution (reducing dependance of foreign sources), maybe you are part of the problem.

Damn.

Woke up this morning and there were dead polar bears all over the lawn.

I wish Algore would hurry up and fix global warming. This is getting ridiculous.

Read State of Fear by Micheal Crichton. While it is a story of fiction it uses facts and figures to show how global warming is basically a myth and how scare tactics and misinformation are used on the public.

Kind of like what our Mayor does.

Algore's whole game plan is to be a carbon footprint broker. Selling a non-existant product to a gullible public for a commission.

SCC,

I like your take on nuke power, but you are a dolt when it comes to global warming. 30 year cycles, my ass. The north pole will be a navigable waterway next year.

Here's a suggestion, go to the Tetons in Wyoming or the Canadian Rockies. Take a look at the deterioration of all North American glaciers over the course of the 20th century. You science-deniers are really becoming a problem in the U.S.
