Nice Target Shirts, Target Inc!

An "unfortunate" choice of sponsor in the opinions of our readers:
  • Superintendent Jody Weis says despite the latest murders, Chicago is on pace to have the fifth lowest homicide rate in the last 43 years.

Weis made the comments Saturday morning while announcing a new CAPS program called C.I.T.Y., or Cops Interaction Targeting Youth.

C.I.T.Y. is an athletic program is geared to children ages 11 to 14 to help them make the transition between grades. Approximately, 60 kids take part in flag football and other sports every week.

The space is provided by Chicago Indoor Sports, and Target is providing uniforms and equipment.

And "The Picture Worth a Thousand Words"

Sometimes this stuff just writes itself.

Read the article.

Note the boldfaced section

Look at the t-shirts that say "Target" and have the nice little logo placed exactly where a bullet can do maximum damage.

Giggle at the irony.

Typical in politics...
Rule #1 when asked a question that you can't be answered correctly, shift subjects. I.E. what do you think about the shortage of P.O.'s and the homicide rate???
Well we have a great out reach program targeting the kids...
If you cant answer them honestly, then dazzle them with bullshit..
Nice Job

I hear that they stole the idea from the cpd soccer team. I went to their web page and they have a similar program. I kind of like their acronym K.I.C.K.S. Who came up with the acronym city. Cops targeting youth sounds like pervs.

Not a cop but a fan.

Much ado about nothing..

You don't really believe that the gangbangers aim, do you?

If they did that they would be able to hit that small of a target.

Now if the Target logo was say, 8-10" in diameter, it would have been something.

Off Topic: Has anyone read the FAX on the Washington D.C. Detail.
You have to have a scheduled 1,1a,1b, or scheduled baby furlough (not C/U ETC..) in Januarary. Your TO/FROM has to be in by 18 November. First the majority of people with 1 a 1b Furloughs are coppers with 2 years on the job, and second most districts arent picking furloughs til later this month. What are they thinking. No Supervisors? No mention of compensation?
