Daley Has Our Back?

Actually, he just has it in for Dixon who ousted his tame aldercreature Chandler. But it's almost like he cares about us...aside from the contract thing, the no cars, the no long guns, the no overtime, etc., etc.
  • Without mentioning Ald. Sharon Dixon (24th) by name, Mayor Daley had some choice words today for people who drive drunk or attempt to drive around the scene of a fire, accident or other major emergency.

“I have a candlelight vigil. How many people are killed and seriously injured [by drunken drivers]. You should go to that some day and talk to the families that have lost a loved one. Or their son and daughter, a family member is in rehab for the rest of their life,” Daley said of the gut-wrenching annual event sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

“When you mix drugs and alcohol or just alcohol and you drive, that is a very dangerous type of incident that takes place. It could even jeopardize your life.”

Don't look for J-Fed or anyone to make any public statements in the near future. Word is that Mike McCotter already made an appearance in 024 and thanked everyone for being professional during the entire alderdrunk incident. While it's a class move on McCotter's part, it's probably the only recognition that the cops did the right thing and they're safe from political retribution that we're going to see.

it sounds to me (?) that McCotter (a class act) was sent out to send the message that the "CPD has your back", in the absence of Weis making a comment, which was probably prohibited by City Hall....(just a guess, I suppose); anyway, who cares what another CPD exempt says about an arrest? If the arresting officer had probable cause to make an arrest, then the arrestee goes to jail, plain and simple, regardless of the identity of the arrestee, by the law...and we are still a nation of laws, not men, no?....Richie?.....Weis?....

Alderwoman(hear me roar): "What's all this drunk driving business. How am I supposed to get my CAR HOME!! AAAAHHHH, AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"

Actually Sam Kinison said this in his comedy bit "Rock Against Drugs." Kinison disgustedly mocks anti-drunk-driving campaigns, but in 1992 he was killed by a drunk driver in a car crash. ~ Bret Adams, All Music Guide

Daley is starting to look like Sam by the way.

Lets review history, a young man headed to home after a night of drinking, he was drunk (alledgely) He existed the Dan Ryan Expressway southbound Pershing street exit preparing to make a right and turn westbound for home. A bunch of poor blacks had their cars parked near the housing project and the cars were sideswiped. A tow truck from the State of Illinois showed up as did many Chicago Police working in the 11th Ward. The white boy was the son of the Mayor and some day he would be Mayor. I guess back then the Cops knew you do not test the Mayor's son. NO test, No DUI, right Mayor Daley?

Thank God pictures were taken, some day they will be posted. I hope our current Mayor also sheds some light as to why someones drinking caused his mightiness to end up at the hospital, or will that be kept hush hush? I hope to hear from Patrick Daley about the evil of drinking, don't you?

One thing for sure, if Mike McCotter were Superintendent there would be no doubt about the person in charge, there would be no slowdown in arrests or tickets. And there would be no disintegration of morale.

We need a Superintendent like Mike McCotter. I would follow that man anywhere and do whatever he asked, unquestionably. He is the police. A police officer's police officer. A leader to be respected and one who could lead this Police Department out of the doldrums it is now in.

Dixon does not always votes the way Daley expects. She called the mayor out on crime after the Taste of Chicago shooting. She said said that Lawndale had shooting everyone night and no one seem to care.

Daley never forgets and she will get no help with the po-lece or the courts. He want to let her twist in the wind on this one. She probably got the message yesterday through back channels that she did would not have the mayor's support in putting heat on CPD. Daley's press conference was a way to bitch slap her in public.

Daley wants her to eventually lose her seat and the DUI arrest just helped move his plan along a little further.

RIGHT! ONLY BECAUSE YOU GOT CAUGHT!

"I regret that it happened and I apologize to my constituents and to the city of Chicago".
RIGHT! ONLY BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE THAT BIG, FAT $100K PAYCHECK!

"[But] I did not try to drive through the fire scene," Dixon said.
RIGHT! SO YOU ARE CALLING THE POLICE LIARS???

Just do the honorable thing and resign! Excuse me? What's that? Good point...

The Public League is taking drastic measures to curb a rash of violence that has erupted at its basketball games in the last week.

Chicago Public Schools director of sports administration Calvin Davis told the Tribune late Thursday that three changes would be implemented for the rest of the season:

•All varsity boys basketball games will begin at 4 p.m.

•Fans from the visiting team will not be allowed to attend.

•In some cases in which there has been a history of trouble between schools, no fans will be allowed to attend the game.

I am not a cop but this statement by Daley seems way out of line in the sense that it is really not Daley’s job to make such a statement and in doing so, he makes J-Fed look like a eunuch ball-less, just a shill of Daley’s.

Anyone who has seen that T.V commercial where this guy is on the phone and he's listening his Dr. tell him how to perform a procedure and the patient listening to the Dr. on the other end of the phone says, "Shouldn't you be doing this?" will see the similarity in that and Daley's commenting on this matter where, in my mind, the Superintendent of Police should address the issue.

Really, isn’t this the kind of thing you hire a police superintendent to do, at a minimum, with the Mayor standing behind him at the podium?

If J-fed had any self-respect he’d have stood his ground with that first deputy I think it was that Daley had removed and he’d have made it his business to be making the statement Daley made here.

The fact Daley injected himself in replying on this shows in spite of his saying he knows nothin’ about nothing concerning some “Chicagoesque” rip-off of the taxpayers at the hands of some insider or relative of his given a city contract, his addressing this shows Daley is a grandstanding camera slut and the nobody’s somebody sent don’t take a crap unless Daley tells them that it’s O.K.
