Chicago Public Schools director of sports administration Calvin Davis told the Tribune late Thursday that three changes would be implemented for the rest of the season:
•All varsity boys basketball games will begin at 4 p.m.
•Fans from the visiting team will not be allowed to attend.
•In some cases in which there has been a history of trouble between schools, no fans will be allowed to attend the game.
On Tuesday night, North Lawndale forward Jermaine Winfield was shot in the leg during a postgame altercation in which Winfield came to the aid of a teammate.
Frankly, we'd like to see them ban all basketball in the public schools. It's a source of way too much violence, gambling and misconduct on a number of levels.

- Last night in the 011 District there was a 10-1 called after the game at Marshal High School. 10 District responded, numerous plain cloths units, MSF was called in, SWAT. The N.Lawnadale coach went at it with the opposing coach and all hell broke lose.
When the first units arrived they went and broke up the fight between the coaches and the N.Lawndale coach was hooten & hollering. Next thing that happened is this skinny N.Lawndale coach arrives in the 011 District wearing his cheesy brown suit and identifies himself as a Detective for I.A.D.
This piece of sh*t then called the commander of I.A.D to get involved and to get the white officer who broke up the fight in trouble because he "pushed" him.
We'd like an explanation of his conduct at the basketball game. How is he able to not identify himself at the scene, participate in a street fight, and then use a phone call to an IAD boss to attempt to jam up on-duty cops.
We don't usually expect much from IAD, but this is low even by our standards. Is J-Fed's best man going to straighten out his own house? Or are we just going to assume business as usual?

I don't know how any of these teachers can get anything accomplished when the “students” just roam the halls doing whatever they want. I cant even hear my radio when in these buildings let alone a history lesson. But then again the C.P.S. system is just a daycare for teens. The main objective must be to just keep the thugs off the street and make sure the enrollment is padded enough to keep that money pouring in. And I noticed that they are no longer called high schools but Career Academy or some B.S. like that. Is that because their scores are so substandard that they cannot be classified as high schools? Time after time the inner city black schools are the scene of 10-1's during and after their sport games.
The CPS should be required to hire off duty police officers in the numbers that are needed to keep these sport activities safe for all that attend. Not just use on duty police to have to cover their messes. Many times when these sport games go up for grabs, 1/2 the available police district is used to calm the disturbance. It is ridiculous that the CPS can keep putting on-duty officers in harms way both physically and financially with these inner city school disturbances.
I have a funny feeling that if these were private Catholic high schools calling for this much police service, Mayor Daley would be handing them a nice big fat bill for the services.
I am so tired that since it is always the same inner city minority schools involved, everybody is afraid to say something.... Which is BULLSHIT as usual!

Everytime there is a major incident, take something else away. Basketball, homecomings, proms, football etc. Is it unfair for those " good kids" ? No. They might have a chance of attending a school to learn the 3 R's without the fear of being shot or battered.

Friday night basketball game: Mt. Carmel Vs. Br. Rice @ Rice. The gym was packed to capacity with fans from both schools. How unusual, I never saw a uniformed police officer nor did I observe one problem. After the game, the crowd exited in an orderly fashion. Someone please explain why?

Maybe the schools should install "jumbotron" tv screens in their gyms or assemby areas, and the students can watch their team's "away" games that way, since they obviously do not know how to act when they come together in large groups. Combine that with the lack of public backing of the police when these events take on a violent tone, and you have what currently exists, a recipe for disaster.
Parents need to do more too. Perhaps "parent patrols" at these sporting events to help keep junior and his/her friends in line.
This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of what will happen to you if you WORK in the JFED era.

How about that IAD fuck that got caught TWICE trying to pick up street whores, most recently a couple of years ago in 019 near Belmont and Sheffield. I never heard what happened to him. I did hear he was crying like a baby when he was charged.

All I can say about this incident is that the bosses in 011 were very supportive of their officers. From the ones on scene, to the w/c. This IAD jagoff got several CRs himself for his behavior. Now whether or not he will be punished as he deserves is anyone's guess. But all the POs that responded to the 10-1 did a great job. Fuck this asshole.
