- Chicago’s Olympic bid committee and South Side community groups hope to wrap up an agreement by the end of the week that spells out City Hall guarantees on contracting and affordable housing, sources close to the negotiations said.
The two sides are hammering out details such as the percentage of Olympic-related contracts that will go to minority- and women-owned businesses and what amount of the Olympic Village will be reserved as affordable housing after the games wrap up, assuming Chicago is chosen to host the 2016 Summer Games.
Some people are putting an awful lot of assumptions on the table 7 months early.

How about ALL, not a percentage of Olympic-related contracts, go to the lowest-bidding, competent, capable businesses? The International Olympic Committee comes to Chicago to visit locals venues ie. Millenium Park, Soldiers Field, Museum Campus and Grant Park. Buckingham Fountain is probably gonna get turned on for a "TEST".
The CPD will provide 24/7 security at the Hotel. Probably somewhere close to the AON building since they are a major sponsor for Chicago's Olympic bid. The Chicago 2016 commitee who occupies part of a floor at the AON building is rumored to have a budget of $500,000,000. Now we know where part of the Billions Daley has gotten from selling parts of the City have gone.
SCC! BOYS AND GIRLS please realize that the The Fix is firmly in place. October '09 the IOC will announce that Chicago has gone from a Candidate City to Host City of the 2016 Summer Games. Think about it.
The criminal organization (the city under Shortshanks) caved for these groups because this group was about to demonstrate.

I think we should make every effort to show the IOC decision makers what Chicago is all about!.
First, the building of Olympics related facilities.
-Shoddy construction work by connected contractors
-Huge cost overruns that will we forced onto the taxpayers.
Then...there is the fact that Chicago is a city whose primary population can not afford the price of a ticket, and the venue's will be located in the less desirable areas keeping those who can, away.
So there becomes a perfect shitstorm of debt led by the little Emperor with no clothes.

thats one of the better points to make. insisting on having Olympic venues in places where spectators are unwilling to go is certainly going to affect attendance.

the only minority i see in this city right now is the white caucasian male. i just read an entire story in the trib about the two goofs who dropped the little kid out of the window in the jetts and killed him because he ratted them out about stealing a candy bar. a full page 9 story about how bad little boo and willie have it because the MAN fucked up their lives. how about the trib printing a full page story about a husband and wife who both work their asses off and raise their kids right. they both sacrifice a lot to put their kids thru good schools in a good neighborhood and the kids go on to be productive citizens.
That minority and woman-owned business is usually 90% bs. Whatever project it is will go up at leat 15-20% more so that these businesses get their cut first then it will go to the actual sub-contractor. It's all a scam.
Another scam is that the minority business is usually held by someone other than the minority pulling the strings. Some guy's grandma is the company president who has no clue on how the business is run or propbably has no idea she is a president of a company.
So in the end, the Olympic buildings are going to cost a hell of a lot more than they should. Who's gonna pay for it??? The taxpayer.

No opposition here, just ACORN and the revs and so forth trying to get their piece of the pie.
Believe it or not, there are white people in this city who could use some "affordable," some help -- if one were to sit down with a map and do some overlays, one would very rapidly find that almost all available social services are concentrated in black and Hispanic areas that are essentially "no-go" for whites --physically dangerous to travel to.
I still can't believe the opposition a few years ago to a senior center in Norwood Park on the grounds that it would attract "pedophiles." Bunch of hysterical 170-pound soccer moms waddling around with water bottles and cell phones, looking for a blade of grass out of place (while their precious kid is heaving rocks and scrap metal onto the Kennedy, waking up ten square blocks with his boom car, driving to the West Side to cop, etc.)
