Way to Go J-Fed

This is about as bad as Phil hugging Meeks:
  • Supt. Jody Weis elevated three Hispanic members of the department Thursday, including promoting a Latino officer to head Internal Affairs, the office that investigates misconduct of police.
That's how Channel 2 opens their coverage.

We give a rat's ass about the racial makeup of the upper echelon, but that's the first thing Daley's media lap dogs report. Not that J-Fed promoted the most qualified individuals to the posts. Not that J-Fed conducted a thorough and exhaustive search that resulted in these three persons being moved to where they could provide the Department and City of Chicago their expertise in advancing the cause of policing in the new century. Reading the full article and you find out exactly what occurred:
  • "We're very excited,'' said the Rev. Wilfredo De Jesus, pastor of New Life Covenant Church. "At least they are willing to hear and meet with us, and now we are seeing some changes. It's well overdue. We hope there's more [in] the future.''

Sources said Weis had recognized the need to diversify the upper ranks of the department even before meeting with the clergy. He committed himself to work on it at the meeting, one source said.
Ah, yes. The churches calling the tune. Or at least the churches that have members that Daley needs votes from to hang on to his office on the fifth floor of City Hall.

So Daley tells J-Fed, "Jump" and J-Fed says "How high Mr. Daley?" and Daley says, "Dat's a good boy there Jody" and everyone moves the names around on the doors and desks. If there was any doubt (and there shouldn't have been) that J-Fed is nothing but a tool for Shortshanks, this ought to wash away any remaining questions.

Jody took his ball and went home today... He was absent at the monthly "superintendents award ceremony". Just a week or so after he was given a no confidence vote, Jody Weis was "too busy" to spend an hour of his day honoring and presenting awards to the officers that, according to first deputy superintendent James Jackson, "went above and beyond the call of duty and exemplify why I am proud to call myself a Chicago Policeman". What a shame. This act of defiance by the superintendant clearly has drawn a line in the sand. It is them against me. Many members of the 200 or so rank and file seemed embarrassed in the faces of their family members when the whispers of 'I dont know where the boss is' or 'sorry honey you had to take off work for this, I dont know why he isnt here' were heard almost as a chorus. Weis shows his hand time and time again to the media, acting as if he is on our side and has our backs; yet something as meaningful to the rank and file, something so simple, something so non time consuming and the almighty Jody P Weis couldnt even show his face!? Superintendent, you are a disgrace! Thank you for your vote of no confidence today with the entire Chicago Police Department! At least now we know where your heart is! A sincere thanks to Aunt Bea, Dan Dugan, Patterson, Jimmy J and the other exempts who made time in their busy schedule to actually shake my hand and say thank you... That means alot to us!

Can we start with good of' d. snethen? M. Graffis, J. Reyes, R. Whalen, M. Masterson, and hopefully last but not least R. Vicari?

Yeah same old same old business as usual stuff. But hey, the good news is they just posted in the CO book letting everyone know if you want to be made merit(cloutorious) Sgt. have your resume in to the commander's office by March 30th. We all got a great laugh after that one. So we all have a chance now, just as your average joe working copper with no clout, right? This dept. is one big Fuckn JOKE! Hey J-Fed we aren't that dumb! We know how the police department works. Nice try though!

Every decision is about votes. If it wasn't, Obama and his cabinet of buffoons would send troops to the Mexican border and put an end to the growing violence down there on the US side. But they want the ever increasing hispanic vote, illegal or not so they can stay in power. Remeber they built the Empire State Building in 480 days, but they can't put up a border fence in 5 years?

as a young Chicago Police Officer with four years on the job; I was very disappointed after reading the article and also watching it on several different media segments.

After these influential Revs spoke with Jody Weis and not long after did J.R and R.Z and B.R all get promoted that seems that these guys got promoted because of their race.

I am not African-American nor am I am Latino. What kind of example are you showing officers that are not of Hispanic descent or African-American?

At first, there were not enough African-Americans in high ranking positions and now this happens.

I'm not saying that these choices were bad but on the same token it portrays a bad message of how corrupt our promotion protocol is.

As a minority officer, I believe that people should be promoted based on their credentials and not because of what nationality they are.
Again, I was disgusted and could not believe that he made these moves.

No Mas Senor!! No Mas Senor!!

We are definitely being lead by idiots. Case in point, the FAX message sent out by the new Director of Human Resources Tracey “You can call me Sista” Ladner – card carrying racist Daley plant.

First, she had Avala as being promoted to Area #4 Deputy Chief – poor Wayne Gulliford he thought he got dumped – instead of the correct assignment of Area #5.

Secondly, she violated the Captain’s Contract by elevating a Lt. to ACTING COMMANDER of the 10th District. Violation of the SES provision of their contract.

Oh Well!!! What can we expect from a lawyer sent by Shortshanks to oversee our hiring and personnel issues?

COMPLETE TOOL!!!

PS: Tracey – buy a comb and try combing your hair occasionally.

It would have been wiser to move Lopez from Cmdr of 025 to the A/5 Deputy Chief position. No axe to grind against Zavala, but he hasn't been a Cmdr all that long.
Everyone knows he replaced a Hispanic female who appears to be in way over her head. Do we need any further examples for public display? Our Dept. is already a laughingstock of the entire country, thanks to Weis's continual musical chairs game.
Can Masters & co. make us appear any more foolish and unprofessional this year? In light of recent allegations in a nearby suburban Dept recently, maybe we should just change our name to the Cicero East PD.

Oh come on SCC! You and your readers are crying sour grapes! I am sure the new exempts had to prove themselves for many years in a variety of key mid level leadership posts before being promoted. Jody Weis is a very serious law enforcement executive whose career as a federal agent was full of accomplishments and unblemished. I am sure he didn't make those promotions without due deliberation and an intense review of personnel files. These guys have earned their promotions with their hard work and the city of Chicago will gain much needed diversity in a key agency.

Why the hell do POs have to wait 4 years to get their DC? One that I have pending from years ago - one of the other POs on the award -IOD and on disablity in another state, two now retired and one dead from cancer. [RIP Jerry]
Maybe the city figures they save the 50 cents for the ribbon bar by delaying it long enough till some of us die.
The Super should man-up and send the certificates/ ribbon bars out to all members that are over due more than a year.
Second - stay current with the awards, show-up so that the younger guys can look good to their kids and take a photo with you if they are so inclined. It couldn't help but improve your image.
Lastly - Tell the stupid ass Sgts and LTs to acually put somebody in for an honorable or DC when appropriate. Every time I hear one of them tell some young tact or watch copper "Its just your job...", after they make a great pinch, it remindes me of every dog-ass supervisor I ever worked for in the early 80s.

Super - Your biggest problem with morale is at the district/unit level, with supervisors that couldn't motivate anyone to work with their mis-management styles.

Off-Topic but just as important about Merit nominations!

News flash about upcoming 2009 Sgt. Meri-Clout nominations!

From a confirmed source within the boundaries of the Ivory HQ tower, word has it that a young M/2/30's, has again taken a bite of the merit nomination for the 2nd time. Let's see if he succeeds this time, being of Southside Irish Minority decent!

Remember folks everybody plays the Merit nomination game, not just Blacks and Hispanics out here as some will lead you to believe!

He is from Unit 125, this same guy [M.M.] that right after he was off his probationary status. He was installed right away in a Headquarters position sucking up to big bosses [Yezza Boss!].

He never did any real street time except for "Operation Closed Market" [even then he got himself out of that with some bullshit excuse] let alone make any viable arrests or street stops!

This Officer with zero street crime fighting experience other than fixing some idiot bosses blackberry and installing the stupid blue flashing POD cameras.

He now has been put in for a Merit Sergeant position out of headquarters for the second straight time by the idiot Commander Jonathon "bottom boy" Lewin [Unit 125].

Yea right, merit promotions it's all legit people!
Oh C'mon!!!!!!!

A question begs to be asked: What makes him qualified to be a leader? All he has ever done on this job was to suck up to Phat Phil Cline and company and now J-fed and company!

So all of you aggressive hard chargers out in the districts who believe you have a chance at any promotion. Keep up with your movers, parkers, arrests, contact cards, and event numbers, etc!

Soon, you'll have a Sgt. like this guy who can't lead his way out of an open box! He will be leading you and trying to educate you about your mistakes even though he has NEVER been a street cop himself!

Then again he and J-FED both have something in common. That is they have NEVER been the Police to begin with!

Promotions are needed and we need recruits. The city does not have to promote anyone meritoroiusly.

But this “leadership” of this Department cares nothing about how it appears to the rest of the Department members. Constantly ignores morale issues. Constantly ignores federal case law. I guess that it could be worse; they could have promoted Rick Flair even further. Maybe even give Helm another promotion. There was I time I enjoyed coming to work every day. That day has past., for me and countless others. Jody, do you really not know why, as an organization, that our efforts have abated. Masters, Brust, CUELLO to name three reasons. Earlier today, I was copied on a letter sent from FOP President Mark Donohue to the City’s Corporation Counsel alleging that the Department was planning an improper first amendment investigation into those individuals who choose to participate in an FOP-organized picket on 02 April.

This allegation is false and not substantiated by any information that is available within the Department. I am deeply concerned that such an allegation would be raised against members of the Department without proof.

I would ask that you inform the members of your command that the Department is committed to upholding the constitution, and that we will support the first amendment rights of the men and women of the Department, regardless of the first amendment activity they choose to participate in. The Department will support their rights; it is vital that we stress this point to the membership.

Every day, numerous first amendment activities are ongoing throughout the City with the full support and protection of legal first amendment activity by the members of the Department; the event on 02 April will enjoy the same support and protections by the Department provided to any other activity.

Thank you for your leadership in this issue.
Jody

When will the city realize that federal law prohibits employment decisions made on the basis of race. When's the last time we had a White commander in 002 or a Black commander in 016 or a Hispanic commander in 022? EEOC, are you listening?
---------------------------------
because you want people who communicate best with the people they serve. Who cares where they are as long as they're there. Don't complain just to complain.

So only Black officers should be assigned to 002, and White officers to 016 since they can communicate best with the people they serve?

as a young Chicago Police Officer with four years on the job; I was very disappointed after reading the article and also watching it on several different media segments.

Welcome to CPD Kid..now bend over!

Is this code speak for your support of racial profiling?

As in only blacks can communicate with blacks, only hispanics can communicate with hispanics, only asians can communicate with asians, only whites can communicate with whites, etc., etc., etc.?

Why was there another fax following the promotions that said:

To clarify Elias Voulgaris will be the acting Commander of 010 until the appointment of Berscott. Did Jody promoted someone that doesn't meet the qualifications? What's the story?

Maybe you stupid people that are complaining about these promotions should also complain when a white person gets promoted, when a black person gets promoted. its about time that hispanics got promoted are numbers are down but yet everyone cries when in reality only one hispanic was promoted to commander. the other two hispanics were already in command positions. whats the big deal everyone should have a piece of the pie not just whites and blacks. i really dont care who gets promoted as long as that person does his job. whether its white, black, hispanic, asian, female. so stop being a hater and do something for yourself and maybe you too will be promoted. stop the racist whining remarks they get old remember we all bleed blue we are supposed to be in the same team. peace out brothers.

Bunch of lappers on this topic! "Oh, hes a great boss!" "Congrats boss!" "Im so glad to see he made it!" WHat the fuck have all these "bosses" done? It makes me sick to see men? suck up to some mope who most likely was never the police but came out of the academy "baptized" by some alderman or othe phony politician right into a soft district only to vanish into HQ and voila! you see him a year or two later at his promotion party! You just will never get how Chicago works! Its a 100+ year scam that continues up to today! He will then make LT, CPT, and then exempt! Some of you will assume he must know what he's doing! Why would they lie? You just don't get it!

Rivera knows about IAD because he used to be the C/O of the Confidential Section of IAD. Must be a reward for all the hard work they did on the SOS capers.

Mexico’s matricula consular card, so easily obtained that I have one even though I’m not Mexican and did not have to provide a shred of evidence to prove who I am. The only thing I had to show was $25.00
