Interesting Observation
There were almost as many comments about the "Office Space" crack we made as there were to the "Talk Like Shakespeare" post.
We see the the low side of humanity more than most people even dream about, but anyone who has grown up around coppers knows that there is an inordinate amount of knowledge regarding so-called "high brow" subjects like Shakespeare, cult movies, art, history and other subjects.
Still, it's amusing to see it in action.

Didn't happen in the city, so the daley ban on upsetting his largest voter base doesn't apply.

Yeah, it was nice to be near the memorial, not diminishing the value or the purpose of the memorial park; but Michigan is the crown jewel of the city. We belong on Michigan on that bright sunny morning, not just the yuppies and poochie walkers! I felt the other path we took was obscured from public view. That was wrong. They need to stop traffic so we can honor our dead.
Nevertheless, I will still be there whether it is on Michigan or not. My whole watch will be there too. (We are on midnights). Then I am RDO on Monday/Tuesday. CCSPD lost three officers; I knew two of them. John Rusnyak was before my time. Michael Ridges was my contemporary as was Jim Knapp. I tell my crew to think of the sacrifice that they made, and give up a few hours on a Sunday for them as well as your departed.
I couldn't think of a better way to start my RDO'S.

OT: but to enlighten the obviously UNINFORMED tact officer at Diversey and Shefield on 23 APL 09 at or around 1545 hours:
No where in Illinois State Law does it state that an armed guard on the way to work with proper credentials has to keep his/her weapon covered from view. The TAN CARD is what ALLOWS the carry of the weapon. The FOID card is what allows the ownership of said weapon. So the NEXT time you decided to be an over testosteroned ASSHOLE make sure you know the law as well as the person you are harassing. Had you taken the time to CHECK credentials before you barked like the braindead MORON you were,you would have KNOWN WITHOUT DOUBT that the person you were dogging was PERFECTLY LEGAL in carrying that weapon. Oh by the way did Cap't Ryan talk to you about that little lapse in judgement? Pull THAT again and it WILL be a FORMAL COMPLAINT.
