Sergeants Union Caves

  • Due to our ongoing contract negotiations, the Executive Board of the CPSA has voted not to participate in the upcoming “informational picketing”. The CPSA Executive Board fully understands the frustrations that have prompted the other police unions to take this action, but at this time we believe the interests of the members of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association are best served by the ongoing negotiation process.

    Sincerely,

    John Pallohusky
    President
    Chicago Police Sergeants' Association

What happened to uniting under one cause? Are we not all Police Officers? Didn't Daley pull your raise offers also?

The PBPA has always relied on the FOP to do the heavy lifting in contract negotiations. Then afterward, the Supervisor unions come in and do a little fine tuning in regard to discipline, differential and promotions. The "me-too" clauses in their contracts pretty much lock them into everything else.

Does Pallohusky actually believe the City is going to settle with his union first and then everyone else will fall into line? If so, he's delusional and the sergeants better watch their backs, because god knows what deal Pallohusky is brewing with the City.

We realize that this position was taken by the Executive Board and not via a vote by the Sergeants, but it still makes you look like a bunch of hypocritical assholes as most of your benefits come from the FOP's efforts. Pallohusky is dead wrong on this and there's going to be bad blood over it for years to come.

How right you are! I am saddened and disappointed in the decision taken by the CPSA to not take a stand in support of the men and women of the FOP. It is not only the lack of support of a brother union but these folks are our friends, neighbors and in many cases our family members.
I was pleased to see that the Lieutenants and Captains stepped up and showed their support for this cause. Despite my bargaining units decision I have and always will support the men and women of the FOP and I am certain that most if not all sergeants (non-board members) do. See you all at the City Hall.

CHICAGO POLICE LIEUTENANTS ASSOCIATION

Chicago, Illinois 60609

-------------------------------FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-----------------------------
MARCH 30, 2009
The Chicago Police Lieutenants Association and the Chicago Police Captains Association, members of the Police Benevolent & Protective Association, and the bargaining unit for Lieutenants and Captains of the Chicago Police Department wish to offer their support to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 in its informational picketing scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2009.
Chicago’s strength has long been its work force. The city of big shoulders would never have been built had it not been for its organized work force. The men and woman of all police ranks are part of that work force. We understand the frustrations which generate the need for this informational picketing. We appreciate the sincerity of the members of the F.O.P. We also share the common goal of better serving the people and making Chicago a safer place to raise your family.
We encourage all citizens of this great city to respect this exercise in free speech.
Thank you,

You fucking COWARD. The Lieutenants and Captains are going to have people out there. YOu shouldn't be allowed to get paid you prick. We pay almost double the dues FOP pays. They are a bunch of useless pussies too, but I never thought I would find anyone more week and immoral as you motherfuckers. Keep breeming about your 100% member rate you assholes. Pallohusky,

Its time to recall all the union officers that allow us to go almost two tears without a contract.

This VEBA thing is ridiculous but what is more ridiculous is that the union has to spend money putting this out for a vote at our expense. Tell the city that we don't have money to put it out for a vote and make them pay. You really are a goof.

I am going to propose a change in the by-laws that states we must demand arbitration within three months of the contract expiring.

Youre statement that we are making progress is laughable. You know we are going to arbitration so just get on with it.

So thanks John, it only made us sergeants more determined to march and be seen today. You really pissed us off with this one.

Now is not the time to throw stones at any of the Police Unions. The Sgt.s have their reasons and we should respect that. Remember just who the enemy is and do not let them divert you from the true goal. A fair contract is what everyone is after. Just remember it was City Hall that sent Goudy after uniform allowances and duty availability pay. It was City Hall that pulled the financial packages from all the union negotiations. It was city hall that sabotaged all the contract negotiations. The Sgt.s Union is trying to do what they feel is best for their members as well they should. Let's show solidarity and not picker among ourselves. Rather march strong and tall and show the city what professionals really are.

Newsflash SCC: Pallohusky didn't cave to the cities demand for merit promotions and he alone launched the first credible court challenge to that tainted process when he spearheaded the filing of the current federal lawsuit challenging the current lieutenants list. I'm a sergeant who planned to board at Habetler bowling Alley today until my eleven-year-old awoke with strep throat. Look beyond Pooky and examine the roles of the board members, most are Irish merit sellouts of the first order. Therein lies the real problem.

THIS IS FUCKING REDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!

Were acting like the public running with part of the story and not knowing all the FACTS!

JP ACTUALLY SUPPORTED THE PROTEST, HE COULDN'T SWAY ALL THE BOARD VOTES TO GET THE 51%.

I can understand being upset at the union. However, to start bashing Pallohusky, because he was the messenger is just asinine. What do you think he has a dictatorship?

I'm a Sgt. and was down at the protest. And know for a fact. While having a conversation with Pallohusky, he was in favor of it. But there were too many trying to "protect their spots" that were on the board.

So the point is, those bashing Pallohusky, and trying to ruin his reputation. He's a guy I've known over 20 yrs. And you just don't know what the fuck your talking abt. even though he's a Sgt. he's always been "the real police".

He's always gone to bat for us, and been there for other officers no matter the case. And any of you that know him, or worked with him, know that to be a fact.

So stop acting like the media whore's, and hearing one side of the story trying to connect the dots and just assume part of what you read to be true. If any thing we all should know better than that with all the B.S. complaints we get everyday, and the biased media coverage.

To, SCC, I appreciate, your blog tremendously, I just wish in this regard, in this particular case. You would have been a little more objective, then, what seemed to me, trying to throw an actual good cop, under the bus. Because he did support the protest. It was those merit tools on the Board that had more votes. He had to put his name on it, we shouldn't be shooting the messenger in this case.

I was there and saw one hell of a lot of Sgts. Just because their union president and board are a bunch of capons don't lump them all together. We all know who the good ones are, support them. The main thing is we ALL have to hang together or we surely will hang separately, someone else coined that phrase not me. But it sure fits!

Hey Pallohusky I worked with you in the A5 Agg. Batt. Mission team in the early 90's when you were a Detective assigned there. I thought you were a stand up guy back then. But from your comments I can see you are a piece of shit who forgot where you came from and the blue shirts that were kicking in doors with you looking for the bad guy. I would like to take you out to lunch some time and buy you a big "FUCK YOU" sandwich!!!

Hey Pallohusky how does it feel being the third most hated person by the CPD? Yes, Daley is first and Weis is second. You forever will be a piece of shit in my eyes and you could never repair your reputation. You should do like that Dallas copper and resign!!!

To my brothers and sisters in blue don't lump the sgt.s with this piece of shit or the sgt. board. They are individuals who chose not to back the FOP.
In the defense of sgt.'s I saw several sgt.s and even retired ones who were marching right along the guys in blue. So to the sgt.'s active and retired who were at the march I say a big thank you to all. Remember who the individuals are who serve on the sgt. board and run their names through the dirt and not the rest of the sgt.'s.

I just want to say that Pallohusky really sucks ... I am a Sgt. and I marched ... The vote was 6-5 against from the board ... I intend on making the next union meeting and letting this jagbag know how I feel ... I call on all Sgts. to attend the next meeting if they are off and let this goof know it is time to resign ... all he did was embarrass us ... If there is another march I will be there

I, and several other sergeants I talked with today, will NOT vote for any board member who voted against supporting FOP today.

We were shocked at that announcement and DO NOT SUPPORT it.

We were NOT consulted and the board did NOT speak for us. That announcement made me sick.

I have lost all respect and faith with our Sgts. Union, I was one of the members who was overpaid by the city for 26 months, andwas told by our union that there was nothing they could do to assist in arranging a re payment plan. that would alow it to be repaid over 26 months, the city decided to take it back in 16 pay periods. alot of money out of each check, They said that the city could take it back anyway that they choose to, I went to the rally today and this union does not reflect onm the membership. they should have asked our opinion. I hope I'm still around for our next election, BYe bye John and tkae Ade and that Asshole former president Cosgrove with you. I would take FOP in a minute over you guys. And Fuck that VEBA Shit too.

I'm a blueshirt and saw a ton of Sgts at the march. Thanks for your support. Sgts that showed up are truly brothers and sisters in arms. As for their union, time to start thinking about joining the FOP. Captains, Lts and Sgts along with patrolman should all belong to the same union. Divide and conquer is shortshanks motto. We showed today that we can be united!Lets show that greasy little prick that we mean business!

I'm glad the Sarges Union elected to be responsible citizens and not stooges. We need the Olympics in 2016. We need the CPD rank and file to remember there is no "I" in the word team! Assistant Homeroom Instructor PO Marshall Pufundt taught that back in 1986 when I entered the CPD Academy as a young PPO who wanted to serve and protect the citizens of this great city!

I am a sgt, and I must say that I am ashamed of our union. Please do not hold the real street sgts accountable for the actions of our lame ass president, who won't even leave his cushy department position to be a full time president like he should be, or the likes of Ade, the fat ass wimp who has been hiding in spots his whole career. The ass kissing political hack hasn't been on the street for years, and when he was, all he worried about was where he would feed his fat face, for free if possible.
The REAL sgts, working in the districts with you men and women are with you and support you. We were sold out by punk, loser leadership. But I am not absolving myself...we must change this regime of assholes that we have put in power.

Just sick of how gossipy and high schoolish a lot of tools like yourself act. You're no better than the media whores jumping on board without knowing the whole story. Guilty until proven innocent. Not even giving the benefit of the doubt. Fucking hypocrite.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

EXACTLY!! To all you who are bashing the Sgt's, a H U G E F/U to all of you!! Bash the Sgt's union all you want, but to bash the Sgt's themselves is bullshit. I had not been contacted by the union nor was I asked my feelings on the protest. I WAS THERE, and would do it again in a minute without any reservation! Our Sgt's union sucks and is completely worthless. I am a 23+ year Sgt with my entire career in a district, working the street. I owe NOTHING to the city or the union. I have had a great career and have worked for, and with and have some of the best Officers working for me that I could've ever hoped for. I know I may catch some grief for saying such, but I love my job! The city, the politics and the bullshit really suck, but you Police Officers are remarkable. I honestly believe 99% of the Officers are only asking for a fair shake: a fair contract, decent equipment, proper manpower staffing and to be treated like adults!
Do all the Patrolmen agree with every decision the FOP makes? I don't think so. If the FOP were to recommend a particular job action, would I paint you all with the same brush? NO!
All I'm saying is because the Sgt's union did not agree with taking part in the protest does not mean the membership feels the same way! Let us speak for ourselves!
BE SAFE!!

I am a Sgt, and I was a member of the FOP for 18 years. I was there today, and I was happy to see many other sgts there as well. While the kicking of the sgts continues due to a stupid fucking decision by our board, I want to say that I was not consulted for my opinion, nor were any other PBPA members. I called them and they said that the decision was made in the best interest of our membership. BULLSHIT. How in the fuck could supporting the fop members possibly impact us? We, just like the fop will get whatever crumbs that the city or the arbitrator gives us. We work with the officers, and I say WITH every day. Standing off to the side is reprehensible whether it is in this picketing or on jobs or wherever the case might be. I for one am embarrassed that this happened, and I will apologize for it. Remember, we were not consulted. Pollohusky will feel the sting of this decision the next time there is an election.
Hey John, if you or any of the boys are reading this, please tell me how this was in our "best interest". You made a very bad decision.

or so it seems..............

I hope they defend a Sgt. in trouble better than they represent the CPD because this response shows they have no balls or loyalty to the job!

Meaning if your worried about Daley you'll forever be a pushover and not a smart business man or agent that we need!

The timing of the sgt's union could not be worse. Now is the time for all police officers regardless of rank to stand together against the daley administration. Other unions were locked in so they would not be out there alongside us. We are the only city unoin that cannot strike so thats why our contract is last. We cannot hold it over daley, but we can show our support for each other. The decision of the sgt's union is not the opinion and feelings of the union members as a whole.

From SCC's own Problem # 6 Supervisors vs Bosses

happyjoyjoyjoy said...

most white shirts want to be bosses who are liked but with the constant threats from higher above and all the assinine and idiot officers in blue, and trust me, when you become a white shirt that number multiplies by 10, they become supervisors. i always wanted to take care of the blue shirts but was taken advantage of and every time i try to take care of one i hear it from above that they should be written up instead of taken care of. am i disliked? definitely, but more importantly i am liked by those who understand how this is all played out.

10/17/2006 08:07:00 PM

white shirts sgts are not blue shirts. they get shit on going up the chain and down the chain. they are supposed to "remember where they came from" and be one of the guys. Oh yeah, I'm taking a day to back up my guys. Right, you gonna feed my kids? As far as the FOP doing the "heavy lifting", since Dolan's days, Donohue & his lot haven't done a hell of alot of lifting. I dont see any new FOP contract. I remember them "forgiving the city" (giving back) some money as well. Mark and the boys got there's.

And just out of curiousity, didn't King Daley give in to mental health protesters, instead of the Police. And where are the Firemen? Organized labor?

hardly.
